NO. In fact, you cannot patent a website, much less an idea for a website.Patents are granted for improvement in technology, or for new technology. Websites are not technology, they are a result of combination of many technologies working together. Filing only for a patent will not be a great idea as software per se, or schemes or presentation are not considered patent worthy according to Indian patent laws. It's impossible. Coming up with an idea first gives you a small time advantage in the market at best. Fast followers will be in the market very quickly.The car industry is an easy example. None of these companies were the first, but they are still here while so many of their historical competitors are not.Search engines are another easy example. Locking ideas down with patents this early in the game is a waste of money. Patents give you a leg to stand on in court, but that is all. You personally need to police a patent and need to personally finance any legal protection of it. If a massive company decides to take your IP, they could easily out lawyer you depending how deep your pockets are.Concentrate on being the best, leverage being first as much as you can, but accept that it is a short term advantage and that fast followers are inevitable.

Do you know about the Provisional Application for Patent? It only costs $65 and was designed by Congress to give individual inventors a chance at bringing their inventive ideas to market easily. It is SUPER EASY to do.. If a provisional application for patent looks like the right thing for you to do then take a look at a website that shows EXACTLY how to file one using a video format. Just know the USPTO if a branch of the Federal Government and the Federal government wants YOU to be a millionaire so you can pay taxes. Therefore, the Federal Government, via the USPTO, makes it EASY to file a Provisional Application for Patent. Extremely easy.
