How Do I Hide My Birth Year On Facebook Without Hiding My Birthday Date

How to you hide your birthday on facebook?

The question is not as simple as what is stated above.
I mean how do I make sure nobody gets the notification on my birthday.
I have seen other answers, but facebook has changed and I need some help with this one
Thank You!!

P.S. If you are wondering what my intentions are for hiding my notification, it is because I don't want my friends to know via facebook that it is my birthday, I want to see if they can actually remember. Sometimes, technology gets in the way of true wishes...

How can I hide my birthday on Facebook?

How can I remain hidden from having birthday wishes on Facebook?

You can hide your birth date hence the notification of your birthday won't be shown. Therefore no birthday wishes.Or you can disable 'posting on wall' option. People get notification of your birthday but they won't be able to post.

What are the reasons to hide one's birthday on Facebook?

I don’t like the (perceived) insincerity of getting a notification, typing a quick ‘happy birthday’, maybe add a original non-original birthday image and be done with it.How I came to that? I used to be flattered by all the notifications on my birthday. However, a few years ago I’ve turned off every notification from any social media platform, because of decluttering. That gave me a tremendous peace of mind. I love that I don’t react like a Pavlovian dog anymore to alerts from my phone. That clarity grew into a resentment of all empty notifications, which seems to be the pinnacle of todays society. Before I didn’t notice the shallowness of the Facebook birthday wishes as much, but when those are revealed from the clutter of all the other notifications, they really stand out in a negative way. I like my birthday wishes – both ways – to be heartfelt. I wasn’t able to distinguish them from obligatory ones. So I set my birthday visibility to ‘only me’.The great thing I noticed was a newfound appreciation of birthday wishes. I’m a snob who appreciates the effort of remembering a date. There were some people who did, and made time to send me a birthday wish, instead of the opportunity being hand fed to them. While the numbers were much lower than last years (when I caved in at the last moment and put the setting to ‘friends’ again, because I thought I didn’t want to exclude people from the opportunity), I can truly say I love the quality over the quantity.

How do I turn off the notification of my birthday to others on Facebook?

You cannot turn off. Only when you put privacy from public/friends to only me there will be no notification. When you put only me no one will know your birthday. You can do this prior to some days and after your birthday date so that there will be no notification. Which some people do just so that they can hide. Some even deactivated their account prior to and after some days from their birthday date so that no one will wish them or ask for birthday treat.

How can I know the birthday date of a person on Facebook whom I don't know?

There's one tech hack, that might sometimes work.Check for the profile URL i.e. when you visit their page look at the URL in the browser. Many people have DOBs in their email addresses and that's what social sites pick up while making the URL for you, that might give you a clue.Social sites would mean twitter, facebook, etc.Not a 100% but does work well many times :)

Why do people hide their birthdays on Facebook?

Aside from putting my birthday to "Only me". I also put an effort that a week before my birthday to "update" my birthday to a wrong date (usually on a previous month so they'll never get a notification). There are a lot of reasons why I do this (Some had been stated by previous answers) but for me, the biggest reason is to identify which portion of friends cares about you the most.I mean it takes an effort to actually greet someone even though Facebook has notified them but by not having a reminders on a social media site. It gives you an element of surprise on who still remembers my birthday and when unexpected people do greet, it gives you a feeling that they care about you. Specially if it comes from someone who you haven't meet for a while.
