How Do I Join And Make A Minecraft Server

Do you have a Minecraft server that I can join?

Yes, it’s called mc.hypixel.net :D

How do I join a Minecraft server with a friend, they have a Mojang account and I have Microsoft?

To play a world (Your own on a device) you just simply need to have an Xbox Live account (These are referred to and connected to Microsoft) made… These accounts can be signed in/created for Minecraft on devices/versions such as PE (Mobile…Tablets, Ipads, Phones) Windows 10 (Computer/Laptop) and Xbox’s…When talking about public servers however…It’s a different story… I’ll explain how it works for “Mineplex”…….. You first go to the servers tab in minecraft and click on the bar titled “Mineplex” Upon clicking it…It will load…Once it’s loaded…You can create an account (If one isn’t already made) And you can link these accounts to your Xbox/Microsoft account, If you want to… But after that you click on the friends menu-open (It’s an item on your hotbar you click) and then click “Add Friend”…Your friend will need an account made…You then type there name in, and them doing the same…And then click add…You then can create a party with them by opening the “Friends Menu” again and clicking their name… Then you can click “Invite to Party” and it will invite them…They then have to type in the chat what it tells them…Usually something like /Party Accept AndrewThePenguin or something along those lines… You both are in a party then…On same map/lobby…And to join a mini-game together you click what ever mini-game (The party host) to join… You then are together… Have fun :DNOTE—My friend and I both have tried (And failed) to play servers together on different devices such as me playing Mineplex on a tablet…And him on his Xbox…So that there is one thing that should be noted…You can’t cross play devices on public servers…

How do I get more players on my Minecraft server?

I generally agree with other answers - some reasonable and consistent ruleset + community + advertising is the way. I tried to play it for couple of minutes and I have these notes:- Abundance of messages, I really hate it and it distract from playing- Information usually does not make much sense. For example rules say what is wrong, but not what is right. There is the RPG plugins available, so maybe you want the RPG fans, but there is no info about that. Or maybe you hate them, but why the plugin then. - Inconsistency. There are the simple shops, but random wild teleportation points, but no monsters (easy/peaceful game mode?). So it's not clear if you want newbies or experienced players or which other kind of players. My advice:Think about the server concept. For example I like the survival part the most, but I miss monsters. I like the random wild locations, but it's not clear how can I interact with other players. Also, there is no residence plugin (or I could not find it) and it's not clear how you defend against griefers. I don't mind to mine for resources, but when the diamonds can be bought in a shop, then what is the whole point? With affordable admin shop you attract the lovers of easy game play, is it what you want? Tune down the self promo thing. If I play, I want to enjoy it. I will vote for you if I like the server. I don't care about some stupid reward thing. I also don't understand the command cool down timer. Last command I did was /spawn and there I had to wait two minutes (not 2 seconds as for teleport) for no reason on an empty server. You treat me as a bad person from the very beginning and I don't like it. I expect you to protect my gameplay not to protect the gameplay against me. About advertising and community - paid advertising is not wrong, but it's not the only way. Maybe start to invite people you know and tell them why they should join. Make the server working for them first. They can invite more people.

What makes a minecraft server stand out for you? What do you consider important aspects of massively popular minecraft servers? What (in your opinion) makes a minecraft server successful?

Personally I think that you shouldn't have minigames. There are already thousands of minigames servers out there. You can have them, just don't make it the selling point. What you should make your server is amazing. Make it amazing in some aspect. The reason Mineplex is a famous server is because there are a ton of developers making original plugins. This means that you won't find that exact minigame in any other server. Another thing they are good at is producing. They are good at designing and putting out maps that are creative and original. A lot of time is put into making a map balanced and fun. Unless you are good at java programming, or have a friend who is proficient in it, don't make a minigames server. What makes a good server is how appealing it is to the eye. Make sure whoever is joining feels a need to stay. One way I did this is by using command blocks to change a sign to say Welcome [username] to [Server name which at the time was called MECVERSE]. Make sure you know what type of server you want. Is it Survival, RPG, modded? To build a community without coding fun plugins you need to have it be very good in some aspect. It has to be different and excellent at what it does differently. Start off with a couple few players. You'd be surprised how well you can grow a server from one or two people. Make sure the first 20 that join become very close to you. This makes them loyal allies in your quest to make your server popular! Also, don't make a bunch of your new pals staff members. Don't make all your real-life friends staff members either. Make sure you make the people who you trust the most, with the epic duty of maintaining a server while you're gone, the staff. Colours. You need colours! Especially a good colour scheme. When people are welcomed, they like to know that they are. Don't pick dark colours that darken the mood; pick loud ones that give off the impression of a fun server. Good luck with your adventures as a Server Owner!

What server IP do I give my friends for Minecraft?

http://www.whatsmyip.org/ <-- use this number at the top of the page to allow people to connect

also make sure that you allow your router (if you have one) to allow people through it.

You do this easily by having a static IP address, and using the number on it with the port to allow people through it

for example, I use:
192.168.0.--- : Port 7777 (25565 in your case)

User guide on how to setup a static ip:
http://portforward.com/networking/static...
After this you will log into your router and allow the port using your static IP address as the IP, and the UCIP / TCIP port as the port you want to use.. in this case 25565
To log into your router: Open up the start menu, type CMD, open the only available program. and then type "ipconfig /all" (Do not put the quotes "" in) You should be able to find it under 'Default Gateway" I believe.. just use the guide above that I linked to help more.

also be sure to allow it to bypass your firewall as well if that applies, which you can find in your control panel -> system and security -> allow a program through windows firewall -> and adding the port number to open.

I've never played Minecraft, but this is the basic way of setting up access to anything you host... I used this for Terraria.

What steps should I take to start my own Minecraft server where players are invite-only?

First of all I'd like to tell you that unless you know hundreds of people who play Minecraft and are close to you, your server will not be very popular, so don't bother putting it on server lists. So if making a popular server is your goal, don't make it invite only. If you just want a private server to play on with friends, read onFirst get some friends to play on the server with, talk about what gametype you want.Next, either host the server on your computer (Won't be able to handle more than a few players at a time, and won't be up 24/7) or get a dedicated server from a Minecraft hosting company.Make sure you enable whitelist in your server.properties. Simply add the players names that you want to allow to join in the whitelist.json file.Restart your server. That's pretty much it.

How to host/join a minecraft server without internet?

Me and my brother are currently camping, so we have no Internet. (using phone). I would like to know how he
can host a server and I can join it offline. Maybe through ethernet cable? Me and him have minecraft accounts but can't access the because of no Internet.

When trying to join a Minecraft server that uses mods, do I need to install all the mods the server uses on my computer?

Depends on exactly what you mean, on servers mods a very rarEly used, instead plug-ins and texture packs are used, the plug-in is server side and texture packs will need to be downloaded, however with mods you will have to install the mod before joining the server due to mods being harder to in stall and require editing of .minecraft generally through the use of forge. So is the server uses mod then you will have to install it beforehand but if it uses plug-ins and texture packs then you will have to download the texture pack but not the plug-ins, hope this helps.
