I would take it as the same thing. If he is interested enough he will get past his shyness.

so i met this guy just about a month ago. he was an old friend whom i haven't seen in a long time. we talked and then it got to the point where he said he was "interested" in me but didn't say he liked me. im not sure if he likes me. he told me he isn't ready for a real relationship yet because he just broke up with his ex about half a year ago. but he asked me out on a date once and we hung out a few times. he took me to work, bought me lunch, etc. he tells me personal things about himself as well. but he is really flirty with other girls and i don't know if he treats other girls the same way. he still hasn't asked me to be his girlfriend yet. if a guy is interested in you, does it also mean he likes you and that it's just another way of saying it? when a guy says he isn't ready for a relationship yet but is interested in you, is he just playing mind games with me?

Here's an interesting question. How does foreign guys flirt (show interest)? Or are just being honest? I dout anyone I know is going to realize or recognize specifically who 'm reffering to...but I learned about various cultures at my university. Specifically Asian culture. This new guy and I were talking. He was shy at first but then open up to me more. He transfered from China. We ende up talkingfor hours. So we added each other on facebook and chatted. He called me beautiful. Suggested a restaraunt some of his American friends took him to, for us to go to some time. I asked him if he was flirting and he says..."I tell the truth." He came to America 2 semesters ago and is fascintated by it. I'm fascinated by Asian culture. What I'm confused about is....is he showing interest? Or being friendly?He was complimenting sooo much. And when he said he was complimenting. I said oh just make that clear and then he typed "Got you!" Like he was kidding and actually flirting? ugh Idk. He's different. :3 I like that. How do I know when a foreign person is flirting (interested)? I studied his culture but it's left me clueless right now!!

Then he is probably interested. I am a guy, so there might be some discrepancies in relation to my experience with Norwegian girls, but still...
