How Do I Locate My Hp G6 Technical Properties

Is a 2.4Ghz processor good for a laptop?

It's okay for normal computer work. My wife has a laptop that is 1.66 GHz and she does her work okay. She sends and receives a lot of e-mails, goes on face book, also uses Microsoft Office in her beauty cosmetics business. It works fine for her. Her computer has 3 GB of ram.
And also windows XP. I have a Dell desktop that is 7 years old it has a 1.86 GHz processor
with 3 GB of ram and it works fine.

Why every HP laptops have overheating problem?

My G62 (May 2011) developed its first problem just after the warranty expired. I'm an electronics engineer and deal with this kind of stuff at work, so I dug into it and got the schematic from a shady website in Lower Elbonia. The laptops are built by a contract manufacturer and so HP might not have the control over the process that would be evident in the business models. It’s not an overheating problem per se, it’s caused by thermal expansion from heat. From perusing the HP support forums I get the impression that cooling of the video chips is the root problem, and sometimes resoldering (with difficulty) them restores functioning temporarily. Sounds like just a poor design that works for a length of time but ultimately results in solder joint fatigue. The connections for the video chip are underneath it, so you need a wave soldering machine to do it right. Or a heat gun, which is just going to move things around and may fix it, may make it worse. Like in the olden days when you’d whack the TV to get it to work. Or break it.I also had a problem where the internal power supply just quit and after pulling the whole thing apart, couldn't find anything wrong, put it back together, and it's been working ever since. (????) They also had a recall on the power cord for the wall wart; must have tried to cheapen up on that too and a few caught fire or something unpleasant. So I learned my lesson: two manufacturers to avoid for cheap laptops are Packard and Hewlett. I have an 11 year old Toshiba that still works great (except for the battery). The best thing I can say for HP is that it runs nicely all distros of Linux that I've tried on it: Puppy, openSuSE, all descendents of Debian (Mint, Ubuntu, Bodhi). The other advice I give is to get a HP business laptop, which are made much better. (Better to get a Thinkpad, though.) The used ones are a bargain, and will run Linux like new without all that Windows bloatware. I don’t know about desktops, my wife is happily running a 7 year old HP, which is actually made by Compaq.I forgot to mention: like every laptop or PC ever, the air vents clog up with dirt, fuzz, cat hair, lint, and everything that floats around in your air. I blow mine out regularly with an air compressor; every couple months for daily drivers. If you have a critter, maybe sooner. DO NOT run your desktop PC on the floor.

What is the best laptop for mechanical engineers (Ansys, Matlab, solidworks)?

Matlab works fine on a system with 4GB RAM. Check the link below:System Requirements for MATLAB R2016a (Professional & Student versions)But if you want to use Solidworks and Ansys then you will need a system with good graphics and RAM.For solidworks, a system with good RAM is needed (8GB recommended but will work fine with 4 or 6GB)and for ANSYS you requires a system with very high graphic support. So, you will need to have atleast 1GB graphic card(Nvidia would be preferable)(2GB will be addon) and also ANSYS needs high RAM(16 GB recommended but works fine with 8GB).But this all will depend on things you wanna use during designing. If you want to learn these softwares then you don’t need very high configuration. For learner:RAM: 6GB or more.Graphic Card: NVidia 1GB or moreProcessor:Intel i3 or above (or equivalent)For experts:RAM: 16GB(a combo of 8GB and 4GB will be more than enough if motherboard allows you for same).Graphic Card: NVidia 2GB or moreProcessor: Intel i5 or above (or equivalent)Note: I had worked on all three softwares on Lenovo G500(RAM:6GB Graphic card:AMD-2GB and i3-processor) and never faced any issue.

My touch pad scrolling stopped working for my HP Pavilion dv6 laptop.?

If you've never reformatted your laptop or anything like that you should have an HP folder somewhere in your programs list with factory restore utilities. It should include a driver restore tool that will let you reinstall the touchpad driver. If you don't have the utility anymore try googling HP Pavilion dv6 touchpad driver. I have a Pavilion dv7 and that same problem has happened to me, reinstalling the driver fixed it.

What should I do to speed up my HP laptop?

Here's what you can do to *optimise* your PC:(ie without adding newer hardware)1.Delete all bloatware. If you don't need it,it' just using hogging up more resources and real time threads.Dispose them.2.Defragment disks periodically.3.run %temp% and then clean up your cache at regular intervals.4.Throttling is a major issue.Make sure you're not blocking your exhaust vents. The performance of a laptop, depends to a very large extent,on it's ambient temperature.5.Keep your charger plugged in when you're into intensive workloads. Most mobile CPUs and GPUs have dynamic clocks that auto-adjust to the wattage available. Here are some ways to actually "upgrade" your laptop:1.Throw in a SSD to improve boot times and increase overall efficiency of your OS.2.Add some RAM if you need it.(8 GB is the sweet spot right now.If you think you need 16,go for it)3.Buy a laptop cooler,if you're getting off-the-chart thermal spikes.

Cat peed on laptop keyboard?

I have Hp pavilion g6 notebook. One day I returned home, switched it on but when I tried to type my email password, it displayed 'l9' for '9', 'f' for 'h' and so forth. There were cat hair stuck to the sides so I assumed he peed on it.. (he's adult now and has taken to spraying urine everywhere.)

Presently only 4 of its keys are working so I know I will have to replace it. All the other ports seem to be working fine. It powers up and functions like it used to, its just the keyboard thats not working. I called hp customer care and they suggested I replace it. But the cost of product, its shipping including service charges is pretty high and I'm reluctant to go for it as I recently purchased its battery because of faulty backup and I'm not willing to shell out that much which ends up being half the laptop price.

The replacement keyboard I see online comes relatively cheap and going by similar stories on the net, its said replacing it at home by yourself is pretty easy using video tutorials.

So should I do it myself or let experts handle it?
