How Do I Make Electronic Music And Remixes

What does "vs" mean (in Electronic music)?

Sometimes I see songs whose producers are stated with a so-and-so vs so-and-so
e.g. Armin van Buuren vs Rank 1, Eric Prydz vs Pink Floyd
What does it mean?
Is it a collaboration between the two? Or one producer does a remix on the other producer's track?

How do I learn to remix music?

It depends on how you would want to remix the song.Let's start with the tools. If you wish to mash two or more songs up, I highly suggest Ableton Live, as recommended by other people who have written an answer for this post.Using Ableton Live, you should learn this to make life easier:Warping. In Ableton Live, you are allowed to warp song, which allows you to change the BPM of the song without it sounding too stretched. This is a useful feature when you want to: Sync two songs that have different BPMUseful when you are mashing two songs that might have different BPM, or are in a different genre (for example, big room escalating to hardstyle (128BPM - 150BPM))Create markers on a song to edit it.I once made a mashup using the acepella of "Eye of the tiger". As the vocals are rock vocals and may not have a constant BPM, the markers allows me to fine tune the vocals to ensure that it completely synchronized with song.2. Harmonizing.Usually, it suggested that you understand how songs match in terms of key, as it will make sure your remix will always be musically correct. As a DJ, I tend to find mashup ideas while I'm DJing, because I (bad habit) over rely on the accuracy of my key analysis in my DJ software. But, we are all born to tell whether a key is off or not, even when we are not musically trained. As such, when thinking of songs to remix, use your gut feelings and feel. There are tools out there to ensure everything is synchronized. So, don't lose hope if you're not musically trained or the only harmony you know is Racial Harmony.3. Idea generation.Ideas are everywhere, and I mean EVERYWHERE.Once I was playing a EDM song while my friend was blasting classical music, and I realized that they had the same feel, thus giving me a mashup idea, and the mashup turned out perfectly. When lacking inspiration, take a look at your surroundings, sometimes the best ideas are always in front of you.And that's all I have to offer. If I made a mistake, do tell me and I will edit.Good luck!

What to use to record and make remix's with electronic drum kit on PC?

Okay so here's what i want to do.
I just got an alesis dm6 kit and am ready to start doing some recording. i got the usb cord for the computer and i have fruity loops 8(hardly know how to use it), and when i plug it in and i try to play on the fruity loops, it does the same sound for each trigger..like there is different sound layers but when i hit each drum pad only the layer that has been selected goes off.

so first off, how do i get it so that i can make each trigger have a dif sound.

secondly, i'd like to play along with a song and record both the song + my drums.. so after i figure out how to make each individual sound work, how do i go about doing this!?

thanks ahead of time

Some good EDM (Electronic Dance Music) songs?

I love house, progressive house, electro, remixes, dubstep all of it. Give me some good mixes please :) & I know a lot already so try to give me stuff you know I probably haven't heard of.

What does 'bootleg' mean when talking about music remixes?

Bootleg means an unofficial version of an existing song. A bootleg is usually made by someone other then the original producer of the bootlegged song, and in done without that person's permission.

In some music genres bootlegs are widely acceptable, hence why they tend to happen. In others however, it is frowned upon and legal action is occasionally (But rarely) brought.
