How Do I Motivate Myself To Do School Work

How do I motivate myself to do well in school?

I used to have awesome grades, and had above a 4.0. This year, I only had a 3.8 and had like 3 Bs, and 1 C on my report card for the first quarter D: NOW I logged on to check my grades, AND I HAVE THREE Cs. THREE. I cried when I saw that, literally. I've totally lost motivation to do well in school, and I just don't know what to do. :( Can I raise my grades by the end of the semester? If so, how? I almost never study because I'm too lazy; I'm used to naturally doing well in school, but classes are getting harder, and I'm getting lazier. I spend all night doing nothing when I get home, then cram all my homework into an hour late at night, or don't do it at all. Kids at school would be SHOCKED to know that. I was always that really smart girl that does awesome in school and does everything right. But, I just don't feel like trying anymore. What's the point? My parents don't notice that my grades have dropped, and if they don't care, nobody will. The only reason I slightly care about my grades is that fact that college is coming up, and there's no way I'm getting accepted if my grades keep going downhill..so, help? :(

How to motivate myself to go to school?

Some of the kids left school at your age when I was growing up too. I never really understood why. Yes it was hard to go on...yes I felt like leaving days on end too.... There was plenty, I mean plenty of time to pick up sticks and go to work instead of what felt like then, dead end schooling.

But you know why you don't give up so quick. Because High School is so essential to everything. If you want motivation this is how it is, go to school, get your education, then take your break for a bit and you can always work too. But at least if you finish high school you can go on to college or uni....

If you quit now you will be one of the very very very few in your line of work that has not finished high school. When and if in your future you have your own kids do you want to present yourself as someone who quit high school? Think to your future and how you are going to feel because that should be motivating enough for you. Good luck.

How can I motivate myself to do school work when I'm very tired and burnt out?

Thanks for the A2AFinding that motivation is not easy; I wont lie. I was never truly motivated to do my school work; though, I knew I had to in order to pass and graduate. On top of that stress - I was in an advanced standing program for honor students. If I did not maintain a 3.5 GPA or above, I would lose my place in the program and it would take me an additional year to graduate. I felt like I was living under a ten-thousand pound weight at all times.I stole time to do school work. I carried my books everywhere. I worked on my lunch break, I worked or read while I was waiting for court to start, or while I was waiting for a client to show up and while sitting my doctor’s office. My weekends were devoted to school work - period. Alas, I lost friendships and did not have time to fool around or socialize. My motivation was keeping my eye on the prize and wanting that diploma more than anything. And I got it, right on time! Those were the hardest years of my life and they now feel like a blur. My life did not work out like I hoped it would. I had many upsets in my late 40s and early 50s, and I found myself starting over. Though, I did not start over in poverty because I did my school work when I did not want to. I did my school work when I wanted to say “to hell with it all,” and hang out with my girlfriends, watch a movie, or pretend I did not have a care in the world. Alas, I had a lot of “cares in my world,” and knew I had to stay focused at all cost. This time will fly by - just do it! Do your school work and read those assignments, no matter how much you despise having to do it. You will never regret obtaining your degree, feeling that amazing sense of personal success and knowing you can face anything life throws in your direction with confidence. You will be okay and you will get through this. Best wishes.

How do you get motivated to do your school work?

1. Set yourself rewards for completing each subject's work for the day.

For example: every time you finish a math problem, give yourself an M&M...hey, that one would work for me. =D

Or say "When I've completed my work, then and only then will I check my email." Or something like that.

2. If you're competitive, get someone to do it with you and try to beat them.

3. Set a timer for each subject and make yourself race the timer.

4. Sometimes you need someone to breathe down your neck. Maybe ask someone to do that for you. Don't do this if it'll make you mad - it's not fair to the person you've asked.

5. If you've been studying for several weeks without a break, ask your parents for permission to take a break.

6. Sometimes its helps to switch up subjects. Study one or two subjects each day just for the fun of it. Ie. on Mondays study the entire week's Math and Art. On Tuesdays study the entire week's English and Foreign Language. On Wednesdays study the entire week's Science and History. On Thursdays read for the entire day...or whatever.

How can I motivate myself to do my homework?

You don’t, you just do it.How do you stay motivated? You can read this article I wrote a while ago, but I don’t think it will help you much. Homework is homework, and if you don’t feel like doing it, then that’s pretty much it.There are just a few people in this world who really feel motivated to do extra hours of school after they finished school. Those who don’t feel like that? Well, that’s normal.I almost never did my homework at home, with some exception. I did it all in class, because It was easy enough and I didn’t felt like losing my free time doing something that won’t help me anyway. If you don’t think your homework is easy enough for you, and you have to do it at home, then just do it without thinking too much about it. Come home from school, start doing your homework as fast as possible and be free for the rest of the day.If you want to achieve your dream or something, have a certain goal, a certain reason to do that things could motivate you all the time, as I’m motivated to work as a freelancer every day.But homework? Well, if you can find a good reason to do your homework, then you’ll be motivated. If not, then you just have to do it, as fast as possible, just so you can pass, and that’s it.Good luck!

How can i get more motivated to do school work and stop procasionating?

start being the person you want to be 10 years from now

if you do not do your school work then you are going to pay the price later on...unless you have rich parents or marry a person with a lot of money or win a lottery?

this is not going to happen...if you don't care about your future you should go to a homeless shelter and see if that is how you would like to spend your years.

its not fun be broke in any country...so if you don't want to fail and live on the charity of the Government then you must prepare yourself today for the challenges of tomorrow...good luck..i was a bit of a gold brick..but i lucked out..i had breaks but maybe you won't so lucky...prepare for the worst but hope for the best...good luck

Edit: Qoura sent me a note to add a credential to this post in order to get more views. I could say that I have degrees in psychology, teaching or I have professional job titles that qualifies my comment. But that would be a lie, I have none of those credentials. I have lived everything I have talked about and given advice about. I hope what I say helps just one reader.

How do I motivate myself to do schoolwork when I don't know what I'm studying for long-term?

Well, I didn't and now I regret it. I studied economics extremely superficially in my school. It seemed like I hated the subject but I never took efforts to read it in depth. Turns out I really love it now.If, only if, I had motivated myself to study it more, I could've liked it and my career path might've been completely different. It's okay for you to not being able to understand what you want to study for long term. But that's the exact reason to study each and every subject you have now, so that you don't miss any one like I did.Think of it this way - even if you don't have interest in it, studying it wouldn't be a waste as you have to do well in exams anyway. In life you will not always get to do only those things that you love. At times you'll have to adapt. Studying now will make you a disciplined individual and it will definitely go a long way.

Why am I not motivated to do schoolwork?

Let’s look into what schoolwork and motivation essentially are. What is schoolwork? It’s a means to engage you in a learning experience. In other words, schoolwork is something you have to do in order to learn. But are you learning what you’re supposed to when you do homework? Are you engaged enough to do the chore? And is it really an experience? The reason why we have to do schoolwork is more than clear to us. It’s all of the above: It is supposed to engage us, to make us learn, to provide the experience of working through something. Except, it doesn’t always do that. When you’re up against a deadline on a paper, then you are researching a subject, you are involved in thought experiments, you are calculating the odds of an event, you are always doing something with purpose.Schoolwork, more often than not, is academic in nature. It’s purposefully removed from reality. As a result, it feels like a chore. That’s because we don’t see its purpose other than knowing it’s supposed to make us learn. Not the best incentive, is it?So, schoolwork in itself is an issue in that it doesn’t always provide real purpose. What is motivation?Whenever we have a reason to feel moved to do something, we are motivated. There’s purpose. And we are driven. We no longer have to expend additional mental energy to direct and focus our attention; we just effortlessly move forward with our thing and do it.Motivation is a comfortable thing to have. But the error with motivation lies in assuming that we’re incapable of doing something without being “motivated”.Do you enjoy vacuum cleaning? No? You are capable of doing it anyway.Do you like taking out the garbage? No? You are still capable of doing it.We don’t need motivation to get things done. Motivation just makes it easier to get them done, that’s all.Why are we not motivated to do schoolwork?Especially when schoolwork is too academic we don’t see its purpose. We use up mental energy reassuring ourselves of its meaningfulness even though we don’t see the purpose of doing that schoolwork. And that energy is expended before we even begin doing the actual work.We lose energy by having to move our thoughts in the direction of just doing it without being naturally moved to do so. It’s quite exhausting. And it’s understandable why.

How do I become motivated to do school work?

I was there. What’s worst I grew up in a country where you can’t pick your favourite subjects in high school, so ar times you have homework from a subject that falls on the other side of the spectrum of what you perceived as pleasurable or enjoyable. The bestbapproach you can have is to create a daily routine where you set a given time to focus on your homework.Let’s say you come back at 2pm, lunch at 2,30, calling friends/girlfriend/boyfriend or watching tv till 3, maybe gym or a quick nap so you wake up again and then homework from 3 to 4, 3 to 5 or 3 to 6, depending on how much stuff you have to deal, your work ethic and your level of focus.Make it a habit because your brain will always thrive on habits but might often cope on motivation, since motivation is influenced by so many factors. If you want to make it even better, write things down.Buy a whiteboard, place it in front of your bed and create a visual map of your daily, weekly and monthly schedule with deadlines and routines with boxes to cross off day by day.Apply this for a minimum of 30 days and you will see (and feel) relevant changes.Best of luck, Luca
