How Do I Personalise My Desktop Icons

How can I restore the desktop icons on Windows 10?

It's a known issue in Windows 10 that all of a sudden the icons on your desktop might disappear without warning.Having said that, we're surprised a right-click to the desktop doesn't work. What it should do is bring up a pop-up menu that serves up some options. With that in mind, here are two suggestions that might work:After you right-click and see the pop-up menu, one of the options is Show Desktop Icons, you need to make sure that has a check mark next to it so everything stays visible. If that doesn’t work (because we're assuming a right-click doesn't bring up the menu like it should), then you could try turning off Tablet mode - there's a chance it's switched on at some point. To check this, click on the Action Centre icon - you'll find that next to the clock in the bottom-right hand corner of your screen. From there tap Tablet mode and toggle it off. If you've somehow had Tablet mode on that will have hidden everything on your desktop. ReferencesHow Does the Windows 10 Desktop Work?

How to make desktop icons flexible?

In my new computer my desktop icons are acting tight - meaning if I want to place a icon at say the middle of the screen for easy navigation, it wont allow me to do that and the icon jumps back to the left and lines itself up with the others. How do i solve this problem? In my laptop i used to place icons all over the desktop freely, but never knew the process behind it. Can someone please help?

How do you create icons on Iconator.com?

Q: How do I make an icon?
A: There are quite a few different ways to create icons. You need to use photo-editing software such as Paint or Photoshop. There is a great imaging program at www.getpaint.net/download.html that you can download for free.

After you have some images, you can use our Iconator Animator to create a custom animated buddy icon or the Iconator Resizulator to change the size of your images. Once you're happy with your icon, you can login to Iconator and click “Upload Icons/Avatars/Wallpapers” at the top of the page to submit it to the site.

Q: What are the icon requirements?
A: They are as follows:
Icons can only be 50x50 pixels and 7,000 bytes in size or smaller due to restrictions in AIM. Icons should be 48x48 for best results.

You must have created the icon--icons created by other people, icons from online icon generators, or icons from other websites are not allowed.

Offensive or obscene icons, premade icons (customized icons from other websites), icons mentioning dates or multiple people (such as "John and Mary, 12-2-86"), duplicate icons, icons containing advertisements (such as "Made at DollWizard.com"), and defective or incomplete will not be accepted.

Steam won't open on my Desktop, can someone help me?

CTRL+ALT+DEL open task manager, then find Steam in the processes and end it.

right click on the steam icon that is on your desktop and select 'open file location'

this should take you to the installation folder :\Program Files (x86)\Steam\

find the file called 'ClientRegistry.blob' and delete this file, then run steam again and it should re download this file and startup.

Edit_

so you see steam at the bottom when it's loaded, hover the mouse over it and can see a preview, but clicking on it brings nothing up?

i know what has happened, you have moved the window off screen and it's not coming back when you open it.

if thats the issue, do this:

start steam, click on it in the start bar at the bottom and then right click on the desktop, select 'personalise' and change the resolution to one lower, and then change it back to what it was, this should center the window if its out of the screen paramiters.

(if your icons mess up, easy fix is to right click on the start bar, select 'task manager' and then in the processes tab, click on Explorer and end it, then in the applications tab at the bottom click on 'new task' and type in explorer.exe)
