How Do I Prevent A Burn Blister From Scarring

How to prevent burn from scarring?

If your skin is just red, it means you only have a first degree burn. What works for me is applying fresh (or relatively fresh) aloe vera gel to the burn for a few days. If you can get an aloe leaf, break it open and rub the gel on the burn, then let it dry. The aloe is soothing as it dries, and it helps with healing. If you can't get fresh aloe vera gel, then you can use the type that's recommended for sunburns... it's cooling and soothing, but it doesn't really do as much for the healing as the real stuff.

Vitamin E oil also works well with healing and on scars, but I prefer using the polysporin 'heal-fast' ointment on mild burns, because in addition to antibiotics it has cocoa butter and vitamin E in it... i.e. it keeps your burn from getting infected, and it helps to keep scars from forming too!

If your skin blisters, then you have a 2nd degree burn. Please please do NOT break the blisters and PLEASE see a doctor! If the blisters aren't taken care of properly, then after they break they will leave really bad scars! (trust me, I have an oil burn on my arm to prove that)

If your skin blisters, and you have scars, then you can use (whatever the doctor gives you or) polysporin on the burns as they heal. Polysporin helped with healing AND minimized scarring for me.

After the burn heals, if you see a noticeable scar, you can use 'Scar Therapy' from "New-Skin” (http://newskinproducts.com/scar-therapy.htm) . It will minimize the appearance of new scars after they've healed.

(In case you're wondering... I'm a really bad cook, and I'm accident prone, so these are burn remedies that have worked for me. Good Luck!)

How do you treat a minor burn to prevent a scar?

More than anything you need to keep it moisturized and leave the blister alone and when it scabs over definently leave it alone. The neosporin you are using will do just fine while it is a blister and as a scab, keeping the area moist is the key to minimizing scarring. Unfortunately you are probably going to have a nice brighter pink spot on your nose because it is new tissue growth, but it will improve with time. I do suggest that you also wear a sunscreen on your face when outside, makeup is a good screen and many moisturizers for makeup come with a little SPF, the last think you want to do is sun burn that new skin.

Another thing you may want to consider is that I know when my Aunt had a surgery her Dr. told her to rub straight vitamen E oil on the scar, I also did that with a scar on my sons cheek and it helped with the new skin growth and minimal scarring. You can get that at the local drugstore. I also know that there is a vitamin you can take called L-Lysine, I believe it is in the B vitamins, anyway I take it when start getting cancer sores. My Dr. told me it aids in new tissue growth and repair throughout your body.

How to avoid a scar after a blister burn?

You will have a scar now. The best way to prevent the blister from occuring in the first place is right after you get burnt you put a cold compress on the burnt spot and that will draw the heat away from the skin not causing a blister but now that you waited I suggest you wash the area with warm water and antibacterial soap during the day everyday and at night before going to bed apply either vitamin E oil or aloe vera gel and that will greatly minimize the occurence of a scar.

Can I prevent a burn from scarring?

Can I prevent a burn from scarring?  It's just a minor burn from touching a hot plate in chemistry. It happened yesterday. Is there anything I can do to prevent my thumb from scarring?Keep it clean and avoid disturbing the blister.  Leave the blister in place.  See a doctor to find whether or not an antibiotic or emollient cream, or protective dressing is needed.  Monitor for signs of infection and follow-up with the doctor if it does become infected.  Small second degree burns that do not become infected often heal without scarring.Second-Degree Burn

Will my burn bubble-blister scar?

I got a pretty bad burn from a heat appliance on my arm that formed into about an inch long blister, sounds gross but it sort of looks like a golden worm sitting on top of my skin, surrounded by redness. It's pretty raised. I read about proper care etc. but I was just wondering if someone has had something similar and if it healed without any major scarring? Will it go away completely?
Thanks for any help!

How to keep grease burns from scarring?

So I had a bit of bacon grease splash on my arm two days ago. There are a bunch of pink marks on my arm where it hit, but it only hurts if you scratch it (not that I've been scratching them or anything). I want to prevent scarring at any cost. Any ideas?

Is there a way i can stop my cigarette burn from scarring?

Sarah,
In most cases, once a cut or scrape is clean and the bleeding has stopped, doctors advise soaking and slowly removing the scab, then keeping the area moist with antibacterial ointment or bacitracin. With a small burn, once the scab has appeared, soak and then remove it and continue as above. Research has shown that a moist environment will speed up healing and reduce scarring. The worst thing you can do for a small wound is put iodine or Mercurochrome on it. These substances have been shown to cause tissue damage and impede healing. "Any cut that goes through the entire thickness of the skin is going to produce a scar, but there are things you can do to make it look better," said Dr. Olivia Hutchinson, a plastic surgeon in Manhattan. Never leave a small wound exposed or allow it to breathe. A Band-Aid can ward off infection and prevent a scab from forming. It might also protect the area from sunlight, which stimulates the production of pigment and causes discoloration. Most stores now carry new "liquid" bandages, gel-like versions of traditional Band-Aids that discourage scabbing. The liquid forms a transparent film that seals in moisture. As the skin replaces itself, the gel simply sloughs off - leaving any hair behind. Keeping a wound moist and covered promotes healing and minimizes scarring. As “Miss Rose” says above “don’t pick it,” but the scab should be removed when it has formed.

How long do burn blisters last?

It depends on how many blisters you have and how you take care of them. DO see a DOCTOR. Blisters CAN cause scars depending on how they are taken care of. There is always a risk of infection. A medication the Dr. may give you is Silvadene Ointment which helps relieve the pain from the burns and increases healing time and helps prevent scaring. You may also be placed on antibiotics. Cover the scars w/ a sterile gauze pad of wrap depending on where they are located. Do NOT open or pop the blisters unless the Dr. tells you to and WHAT to open them with and the PROCEDURE to follow. DO go to THE DR. They can heal in 2 -4 weeks depending on how many you have and the location. Of course the Dr. will give you more of an idea of what to expect. Sun Lamps on the face are bad because people fall asleep under them and many times end up in the hospital w/ Second Degree Burns.. that is what you have since they are blisters.

How can I treat a burst burn blister?

Keep it clean with soap and water. Don’t pull the skin off that was covering the blister, although if you have, don’t worry. After cleaning it, dry it, and cover it with a bandage. The area will probably weep…produce some clear fluid, so change the bandage when it’s damp.At night, or whenever it stops weeping leave it open to air to help dry it out. Or if it’s in an area where it’s going to rub against something, then keep it covered until it’s healed. Some may say to put an antibiotic ointment on it, which if you feel the need to go ahead, but soap and water should do the trick.
