There really is no way to find out if the person is in the military. You can ask him for his email address or tell him or her that you would like to send him or her a http://package I'm assuming that you must have met this person on social media you will know soon enough because they will ask you for money or iTune cards. Your talking to a scammer block him and move on. I hate to say this but 90 percent of the men and women you meet on dating sites. I have caught 20 of them I have had every scam there is pulled on me luckily Im smarter than that they will say I did 3000.00 for leave my favorite one is I have found a bag with gold bars and cash worth 8000.00 An agent will be contacting you pay him 500.00 and open the bag give him the amount I tell you .He was blocked before he could blink I just had one loved me within 5 minutes sure enough within a day he had a sick mother wanted me to give him my banking information and so he could put money in my account and then Western Union his poor sick mother the money. All he got was blocked then a couple days later I get a text from his colonel telling me how devastated this fake soldier was. A colonel would never contact you never. They will try anything to get your money I need 100.00 for combat boots LIE we have no food please send money. LIE please don't send money to anyone that you haven't met. Because you're not talking to a soldier your really speaking to a 12 year old from Ghana or Nigeria. My son is in the military I have made him shut down all of his social media. Is lying about military service or veteran status…i.e. "Stolen Valor" illegal?

The Stolen Valor Act of 2013 was signed by President Barack Obama on June 3, 2013. The act makes it a federal crime to fraudulently claim to be a recipient of certain military decorations or medals in order to obtain money, property, or other tangible benefit. The key here is tangible benefit and many states are now enhancing this and in some cases, elevating their laws to where the federal law fails. In addition, it is personally appalling and demeaning since I earned my medals and badges. But, I don’t go out of my way to make a big deal about seeing a faker unless they’re wearing combat valor awards and I know its bullsh.. Just on the news yesterday an individual that said he was a Viet Nam veteran had to walk that back saying he is a Viet Nam era veteran.1.4 million people serving in the U.S. armed forces, according to the latest numbers from the Department of Defense. That means that 0.4 percent of the American population is active military personnel. 2 million military veterans in the U.S. population. If you add their figures on veterans to the active personnel numbers mentioned above, 7.3 percent of all living Americans have served in the military at some point in their lives. It is like collector cars they say more split window Corvettes are reported to be owned and or tagged then were ever built. I say all this because at any time only about 10% of those that even apply to serve even qualify and of those less than 1% go in and the numbers of us that do a full career are even smaller.
