How do I prove her dad wrong?
My girlfriend and I have been together for 17 months,i'm 25,I don't drink,don't do drugs,i'm a clean living respectful guy,she is 18 and her dad took her phone away 4 days ago and we haven't spoken since.Her dad thinks i'm "a drinking,drug taking,promiscuous" guy just because he was when he was my age,not all 25yr old are the same..what should I do?
Love doesn't exist...or can you prove me wrong?
I think that true, selfless love doesn't really exist judging from my experience and my observations of those around me. When you think about it, romantic love only lasts about 18 months to two years, only because it serves a biological function to bring people together to have sex and perpetuate the species. Attraction is only chemical - a response to pheremones - and there is no way that love between a man and a woman will survive for any long period of time if one of them doesn't want to have sex. Then, you may as well be living with any one of your platonic friends. People get sick of each other and divorce, so whatever was holding them together was only a temporary attraction and not a deep, enduring affection. It was probably lust or what they thought was love but was something else - like panic or settling. The only people who really stay together are those who need to for financial reasons, those who are too scared to be alone, and those who are too lazy to pack up and change their situation. You see lots of old married couples. Do you really think that they have a real passion for each other or that they are just resigned to their fate of needing a companion to with whom to share life's burdens and with whom to split bills, rather than really knowing that is the one person they want to be with over all others and why. Even the supposedly unconditional love for a child doesn't survive for some people if the parent and child are different enough or have personalities and behaviours that the other one cannot tolerate. I think love is just a made up scam to perpetuate the human race (who knows why?) and/or to couple up for economic reasons. Anyone else? Anyone been in what they would call love for a long time? What's the difference between love and lust. Isn't love really just love with better manners and a hidden agenda?
How do I prove to my dad that I don't hate him? He's wrong about a lot, and I can't agree with him. His excuse is, "You're just 17"?
You are just 17. You don't have a lot of life experience. And I wish I could share some deep conversation with my 17 year old self. Not sure if it would have helped because I'm that stubborn. But, you might want to listen every once and a while. As bad as that sounds, he's going to be the first one to notice things you don't. About your friends, your boyfriends, and he's going to be able to tell you about yourself too. Because Unfortunatly he was himself 17 once. I know this isn't going to change your 17 year old mind however; but if you are going to do risky or dangerous things; be smart about it. Have an out plan. Know self defense. And scream fire not rape. Things like that and constantly evaluate what's going on. Follow your gut, and don't be afraid to over react. Don't be afraid to look ridiculous. But you're also 17. You're not going to agree. But you can still nodd your head yes.. Sure ok… ha ha ha. Brush it off. But take some heed. He has been there and he wants what's best for you. Because he loves you too.
How can one prove to his mother that he loves her so much?
It's your mother. She knows...But it won't hurt to tell her so in words.She knows, just be a good son. I can not tell you what you have to do to prove your love for her.Just be her son, follow your heart.
