How can Alex earn money without having a regular part-time job?

Alex is a high school sophomore who recently learned about the importance of having an emergency fund in her personal finance class. She doesn’t have a regular job yet because her soccer schedule and school assignments take up most of her time. She would like to start saving up an emergency fund and money for her summer soccer camp.

Broke, unemployed and alone at Christmas?

Well, let's see. I lost my job a couple of months ago, haven't found work yet and I am looking every single day. My family is 1200 miles away, and I live alone with no friends. Money is extremely tight, and if I don't find a job very soon, I will be homeless. I am thankful that I don't have children having to deal with this situation, that would be horrible...but it's bad enough. I used to make a very nice living and always splurged on my family and always sponsored a family at Christmas, and I enjoyed that. Christmas has always been my favorite time of the year...but this year I am depressed to the point getting out of bed is often a big accomplishment. I have cried so much my eyes hurt, and I try to not feel sorry for myself because I am thankful for my health and I am fortunate. What would you do if this happened to you at Christmas and how would you handle it? I am not looking for handouts, as they would be refused....just looking for some words of encouragement

Saving money for a child's future?

My child is almost 2 if I put away £80 a month for him will that be enough for a start in life? + birthday/Christmas/Easter money? Then so he doesn't grow up not to learn the value of money I'll make him get a job and give me half of his earnings when he's around 14 to teach him it's hard work earning money and to teach him yearly how important saving is.. I wrote a similar question here a few days ago.. And a few of the answers were 141k savings and college fund.. College in the UK IS free and I'm not too bothered about money for me my child's future is more important than mine.. Is £80 a month a good amount for a single mother with no help from father ect ..?
