Unable to connect to internet because of proxy, cannot turn off proxy.?

I recently logged onto chrome to get an error message telling me it was "Unable to connect to the proxy server." I discovered that nothing on my computer could connect. I opened up my PC settings to turn off "Use a proxy server" because i never set up one in the first place. The problem is, everytime I close out of PC settings, the option to use a proxy server reselects itself and I'm back to using a proxy. I encountered a similar problem in chrome's settings. What could be causing my computer to force me to use a proxy? How can I fix this?

Error Message: Unable to Connect to Proxy Server?

On my windows vista laptop, only a few years old, I am getting this error message whenever I try to open or connect to the internet. This occurs when I open any browser (chrome, explorer, safari, or firefox) as well as the itunes store, and will not let me access the internet.

One exception to this, is that I can send/receive Email just fine, despite the message. I am not sure why it is doing this; I have not consciously changed any settings. I have tried restarting, rebooting, and turning wireless off/on all multiple times, but still I get the same error. I want to be able to access the web, so does anyone have an Idea of what this problem could be or how I could solve it?

Why do my browsers say unable to connect to a proxy server, although I'm not using one?

How to get google chrome onto another computer that is not able to connect to internet?

Ok so my mom just found a computer on the side of the road so she picked it up and we plugged it in, it starts up, runs and everything, but when i click IE, the internet explorer, it gives me an error and does not open at all, i dont even see the program pop up.

so my question is, how would i go about trying to install google chrome, or any other type of internet browser(the best one to use with slower computers), on a computer that only has one internet browsing program and it is broken?

I was thinking i would have to somehow transfer the installation software onto a cd or flashdrive and install it like that, but i have no idea how to, can somebody please let me know how?

Google Chrome Proxy Error?

So, whenever I try to open Google Chrome (or IE) I am "Unable to connect to the proxy server". This is Error code: ERR_PROXY_CONNECTION_FAILED. It says that I need to go to the Chrome menu then settings and so on until I get to the LAN settings and it says to de-select "Use a proxy server for your LAN", but under my LAN settings it's set up with an automatic configuration so everything is greyed out and I can't un-check any boxes. It says to disable automatic configuration so I can manually configure the settings (thus being able to un-check "use proxy server for your LAN"), but I don't know how to do this. So, I need someone to tell me how to disable automatic configuration for LAN settings, or just how to fix this whole problem another way so I can get on the internet. I'm using Windows 8, by the way.
