How Do I Shut Down My Web Page And Open A New One Ithink It Has A Virus

I think I have a Virus..?

First download the following (if the virus is blocking your internet, you may have to download these on another machine and burn to CD or copy to a USB memory stick)

Malwarebytes: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

Superantispyware: http://www.superantispyware.com/superant...

CCleaner (cleans out caches) http://www.ccleaner.com

Avast! 4 Home: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

Now, start the machine in Safe Mode (hit the F8 function key as the machine boots up, and choose Safe mode)

Turn off System Restore on your machine, but only until you get this fixed - many of these trojans get copied into the System Restore files, which anti-virus programs aren't allowed to touch and the viruses could reinstall themselves from there. My Computer > Properties > System Restore.

Then run Malwarebytes, and clean everything it says

Then run Superantispyware

Then run Avast - If a virus infection is persistent, use Avast to do a boot-scan - click on "schedule boot-scan" and restart the computer

Then run CCleaner

Then turn System Restore back on.

Now install the antivirus program and antispyware program of your choice to do continuous scanning, and make sure you keep it up to date.

Always keep your Windows, web browser and Java software up to date - frequent patches are released to plug security holes.

Can you get a virus just by visiting a website?

You can not get a Virus while simply visiting a site, you need to download an application or something that can execute a command to your PC.But your information is something completely different, websites use something called cookies, cookies do collect some information about you including your IP address and your Email address. That’s mostly where all your spam mails come from if you have any, by extension these spam mails can actually contain a Virus in attached files, usually Microsoft Word files. When you try to open the Word file and enable the Macros a command will run and will install the Virus. So to put it in a simple matter, you can’t get a virus simply by opening a webpage but hackers do find workarounds for this including the email spams. Let’s keep in mind that new kinds of Viruses are getting created every day, so just because today you can’t get a virus by visiting a website, doesn't mean that the same will apply for tomorrow.

How do I know if my Mac has a virus?

Macs can get viruses and do  get viruses.  But there are not very many and they are not as serious as the ones that are on Windows.  Some people will tell you this is because the Mac doesn't have the the large installed base of windows. But this is not the reason why. The reason why there are less viruses in the MacOSX today is because Apple has really good mechanisms for patching the MacOSX quickly and easily when a virus does appear and because down deep MacOSX is based on a very secure architecture called UNIX. Out-of-the-box Mac OSX does not enable root user account (although you can over ride this) and is really good about requiring a username and a password in order to do much of anything to the operating system itself. This means that the virus does not have access to a lot of the lower level things that can do a lot of damage on the vast majority of macs. Because of this a lot of virus writers don't even bother to write things that work on the MacOS. Windows doesn't share these features and is therefore much less secure than the Mac which makes it a major target for virus writers who get thier jollies doing evil things to computers. Window out of the box is not as secure or well written. Microsoft has traditionally been much slower about patching it's  systems and a lot of the windows install base are running out of date versions of the OS.  You have to do a lot of work to secure a windows system and a huge percentage of the user base doesn't bother to do the work. Because of this millions and millions of Windows machines are open to viral attacks. This is led to a situation where the general public has the false belief that Macs don't get viruses.  So while you can't say that the MacOS doesn't have viruses you can say that the Mac OS has very few of them that you need to be afraid of and they get felt with quickly.

My web page keeps changing automatically..?

If you could tell us what you mean by your web page changing, maybe we could help.

Several options:
1. I leave an Internet window open and a few minutes later, it is open to a different site from what I left it.
2. When I view my personal website, every few minutes it looks different, although I did not edit it.
3. I am viewing a site and without me going to a new page, it goes to a new site.

I think in most cases, it may be a virus. Many types of viruses cause your Internet browser to redirect the address to advertisements or porn sites to get higher "click rates" for that site. You need not "shut it off and never touch it again", you can install an antivirus cleaning program - (either buy or download free) or you can simply choose to restore / reformat your computer (I warn you, it doesn't always work for the more stubborn infections).

Edit: Don't "search" by hand. Most viruses are not so stupid as to put "trojan" or "virus" in their name, and not all viruses are outright .exe files that you can easily find and delete. Again, for option 1, I would recommend cleaning your computer like I said above. Antivirus or reformat.

Webpage claiming im under FBI arrest?

These things are petty pathetic attempts to get people to pay money into accounts. The site may have caught your I.P but not your I.P that'll let them trace your location, there isn't much you can do about the site, because the scammers will just open up a new one, if you see another one of these, ignore it completely.

My Mac has a virus!?!?

Your problem is you use Google Chrome. It is very prone to malware infection. This one is just an advertising pop-up. Don't fret too much. Just clear everything for Chrome, and all is well... until the next one.

"But how do I clear Chrome?"
Use the Help menu > Google Chrome Help. Haha! Sorry, that was a joke... or rather Chrome's Help is a joke, but try it anyhow to see that it has no Mac Help.

This might be better help....

You could also use Safari (better) or Firefox (best) for fewer pop-ups.

Chrome facts….

– It is old-school 32-bit, so it is not compatible with the new Retina displays (text will look fuzzy: http://www.notebookreview.com/assets/657... )
– It is difficult to set preferences (a maze of extensive reading instead of just simple check box options).
– It is not as secure as Safari 6.
– It is not as customizable as Firefox.
– It is not faster than Safari (Using the latest RobotHornet testing). See this: http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2012/10/bro...
– It quits occasionally on two of my Macs where I use it just for testing.
– It takes up more than four times the drive space as Safari (140MB compared with 30MB)
– It uses six times the memory as Safari.

If you are still not feeling safe, try iAntivirus, free from the App Store on the Dock.

"Why not other antivirus?" Sure, try others, but Sophos is very slow scanning and finds a lot of false-positives, and Avast finds a huge number of benign stuff and false-positives (and is annoyingly difficult to really get the free registration they require).

When I open up the new SimCity (2013) all I see is a black screen?

I have purchased the new SimCity and successfully downloaded it to my computer. I was able to log on to an available server, and when I click play I hear the music and see the pointer, but it's just a black screen. Is anyone else having this problem? I know that many are not happy with the game right now. Could this have something to do with my graphics card (which I believe is too low), or did the game not download properly?
Thank you.
