How Do I Sing Without Sounding Plain

My singing voice sounds sort of plain?

Im a 14 year old guy and i love singing but i feel as though my voice doesnt have any "spice" or too it lol
But Its sort of high pitched not real high though its kind of hard for me to sing higher pitches because my voice is still changing btw, no im not straining it
So what can i do to make it more "tastefull"

How do I make my singing voice sound nicer?

singing, like anything else, takes practice. that is the only way to truly improve your singing voice.

one of the best ways to improve your singing voice is by getting a private lesson teacher, if you don't have one already. even with 30- minute lessons a week, you will greatly improve. these people know their stuff and they can help even the best singers.

when you are alone, work on your range by singing scale patterns on an "oh" vowel. you might want to try this one i found on youtube... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqVzi36Al... you can either play it on the piano yourself or sing along with the computer. just make sure that you are sitting up tall and using the best sound you can.

about vibrato- although vibrato is pretty, the number one rule is that you can't force it. forcing your vibrato makes the quality of your voice sound worse. practicing vibrato is complicated for me to explain but this video might help you... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDv59ZbPA...

remember, every voice is different. you may not think your voice is pretty, but maybe you are just comparing it to other voices... some voices are loud and booming, while others are soft and sweet. having a good acapella voice is a good thing! it means you don't need the help of an instrument to sound good. :)

good luck!

My singing voice sounds really plain and boring whenever I sing, I can hit all the notes perfectly, I sing from my diaphragm. :/?

There's nothing wrong with having a 'plain' voice, especially if you sing well in key and know how to project rproperly from the diaphragm without straining. (And Liz is correct that we don't really project from the diaphragm, that's just a saying.) In fact, the plain voice is much more valuable in the world. Choirs and choruses don't want voices that stand out, they want people who can blend into a beautiful combined sound. As a church choir director the last thing I want is somebody with a unique voice. That's fine for being a pop star, but in the real world of music there's much more room for a good but ordinary voice. I often reject auditioners who have big, powerful, emotional voices. They just don't fit in to the plan. Be proud of your good, plain voice. Those who can hit the notes and blend well are worth their weight in gold. I reject 'superstars' all the time. You just have to sing the kind of music your 'instrument' was made for. Think of it like this: The saxophone is a beautiful sound, but does it belong in Mozart's music?

How can I open my voice and not sound flat when I sing?

There are a lot of factors dependent on the way you sound when you sing:Your ageYour experienceBreath supportBreath controlMouth opennessYour postureHow often (or recently) you’ve practicedYour rangeWhat you’ve eaten or drankWhether or not your breathing from your diaphragmIf you’re using vibratoIf you’re forcing a belt, vibrato, or specific soundsWhat you’re trying to singThe reason I’ve listed off all of these factors is because there is a very real chance that they may be affecting your vocal quality. For example, if you’re 10–12 years old (or under), your vocal chords will not yet be fully matured, and can hinder your performance. Are your notes flat? Or is there little to no vibrato? What you can doDrop your jawPretend like there are marbles in your mouthMake sure you’re standing upright with correct posture. Don’t slouch, keep your head up and shoulders backAlways warm up! Practice singing for 15 minutes each dayIf you get a teacher they’ll help you with warm ups when they find your range.Breathe from your diaphragm (this helps with breath control/support)You’ll know you’re breathing from there if you place a book on top of your belly and can move the book up and downWhen you sing from your diaphragm, your shoulders won’t move up and downDon’t force yourself to sing a certain way (don’t worry, you’ll find your style eventually)I would also avoid belting until your develop more breath control. Belting can be dangerous for beginners, it can cause nodgules, and permanent damage to the vocal chordsFinding your range will help you avoid injuring your vocal chordsThere are some tutorials online, but I don’t recommend them. You’ll need an outside, professionally trained perspective to help you understand your rangeAvoid eating or drinking dairy, soda, alcohol, or anything with caffeine before singing. Stick to lukewarm, or hot drinks like herbal tea with honey or just hot water with honey.Things to think aboutGet a singing teacher, especially if you’re a beginner. It’ll be hard to know what’s what if you’re learning off the internet from teachers who can’t immediately guide you.Alternatively, you could join a choir; however, the teachers don’t always sort their students into the correct groupsIf you know any experienced singers, they can also help you practice

How can i make my voice sound straight/flat when i sing?

that's vibrato, it is good to have vibrato, if you don't it can harm your voice, it comes with practice, and I want this but I don't have it, straight singing is boring and without a little vibrato here and there it can be very unprofessional sounding and plain. if what you mean is that your voice is really shaky, you sound like a goat or an old folk, what you need to learn is how to support your voice with your diaphragm and learn how to control it so you don't always sound shaky, only at the end of some notes:)

Few professional singers sing without vibrato

The song in the "In Plain Sight" commercial?

thankkssss so much.
ive been looking for that song everywhere. i searched on youtube too and i couldnt find it. i thought it was coldplay too.
getting it right now off itunes

When i sing it sounds like my nose is stuffed?

I used to have that problem. You're basically singing through your nose (okay, not really, but that's what they call it)
This is hard to explain, but bear with me.
Try to bring your voice up to the back of your throat when your sing. No higher. I know it doesn't make sense now, but give it a try and you'd get what I mean.

Is it possible to be a Reggae vocalist without having a Jamaican accent?

This is a really good question. As strange as it seems, I think a Caribbean accent pretty much coincides with Reggae music, just because it's always been a feature.-- I nearly wrote something else, but I think the accent adds the "soul" to the music. You'd never catch an R&B artist singing in a Country-like manner cuz it wouldn't be near as effective, imagine Teddy Pendergrass singin "Turn off the lights" like George Strait (lmao). And i think if an artist *DID* by chance sing reggae without an accent, nobody would take it seriously and look at it like some kinda novelty.

Slightly off topic, but the more I listen to Mos Def sing, the more I think he could be a good reggae artist. The strange thing is though, I don't think he's tryna put on an accent, that's just how he sing lol. I had some people put me on to Barrington Levy a lil while back (*TOO ILL*) he kinda reminds me of him at moments
