How Do I Stop A Dog From Climbing All Over Me When I Sit Down

Why my dog keeps climbing the table to sit on it?

I noticed that my own dog would constantly jump up on the chair, then table, for a bit of attention. To correct this, whenever I saw my dog preparing himself to jump up on the chair, I would make a sharp noise to distract him and dissuade him from progressing.

Could it also be that your dog correlates the table with food?

Either way, I suggest you say/do something to stop your dog from continuing its behavior. Perhaps make a clicking sound with your tongue or a small clap to distract it long enough to know that his/her actions aren't good.

What does it mean when my dog climbs on top of me and lays on me whenever im laying down?

It depends. A dog can sit on your lap and still want to just cuddle with you, however it all depends on how she does it. If you are lying down and she stands ontop of you and looks down on you (and she will be standing pretty proudly, you will notice it) that is her trying to "dominate" you, and by you doing nothing it means you accept. However is she is just snuggling next t you thats fine. If you want to be safe, let her sit next to you instead of on your lap; if she tries to get on, dont be afraid to shove her off (her feelings wont be hurt, remember she isnt a person!).

Why does my dog place his paw on me whenever I sit down?

One of my Labradors has been doing this all her life, she is 11.5 years old now. She does it because she wants my attention. She wants me to pat her and rub her tummy etc. If I didn't respond so much when she was younger, she wouldn't have maintained the habit of doing it. While sometimes I find it overwhelming, I still oblige her as it was my responsibility for conditioning her in the first place and to deny her a response at this age would be cruel. Besides, I also think it is cute and affectionate most of the time.UPDATE 1: (9 months later):Nessa is still with us but I wanted to share another photo of her in case she is not around much longer. About 4 months ago Nessa was diagnosed with a probable brain tumour that was causing tremors and instability in her legs. She was finding it hard just to get up and go to the toilet. Thankfully an anti-epilepsy medication has greatly reduced the symptoms and she leads a normal life at the moment but slowly the tremors are breaking through. Here is a photo of Nessa (on the RHS) and Simba as they wait to chase a tennis ball.UPDATE 2: (posted 17-Feb 2018)Nessa went home to be with her creator on 22-Aug 2017. she was aged 12y 10m. I thank God for the wonderful companion she was to our family. I am also grateful that Simba is still alive and well today with nothing obviously wrong (he is 13y 3m old). He is such a faithful old boy

How do I prevent dogs from climbing on my car and scratching the bonnet, windshield, roof and sleeping on it?

I have faced this problem and got very irritated because my car roof badly damaged by dog, sleeping on it.I tried lots of tricks but not successful. Finally what I did is to raise my car wiper blades up ,it got worked. Dogs hesitated to climb up.Than to be more safer side I attached a light weight carton box portion (take a cartoon box & cut a single wall of it) ,made two holes , hanged up on wiper blades. It blocked the way for dog to climb up my car's roof from bonnet. It really worked for me .This is only way to stop climb up dogs, just block the path.

How do I persuade my cat to stop climbing onto the headboard and jumping down onto my body?

Haha.. I have the same problem. My cat likes to sit on me in addition. There are times when I'm sitting up and she jumps on my back or my shoulders, like she is a bird! She has rolled off my headboard in the middle of the night numerous times as well. All I can suggest is moving his kitty things to another area of your home. Aside from that, just tell him NO. Cats don't really understand reasoning, so punishing him by 'spanking' or yelling will only make him think of you as the mean person who hurts his body and ears. A water bottle is another option but I still think it's kinda cruel, try all you can first. Good luck :) Some cats just love their owners lol.

Toddler hitting/chasing dog?

Everyone and every dog has his limits and your dog will be on the losing end of this one. He could hit his tolerance limit and snap a warning to your son which could result in a bloody nip. If you look carefully (sometimes it helps to videotape) you may see some signs of annoyance in your dog. If there are and they are ignored, he can escalate his behavior.

Your dog needs time to be alone and away from loud noises and little hands. He should have his own quiet place to sleep and his own time out of the house to do things that are fun for him.

Your son needs to be with the dog only when he is calm. He should learn how to not stare at your dog, how to speak in low voices and how to stroke a dog gently. If he can learn how to push a toy and hit the dog, he can learn how to sit quietly and stroke him instead.

I hope everything works out well.
