How Do I Stop A Particular E Mail Address Going To Spam

Can I block all emails from a particular country?

I found this on Yahoo Answers. Hope it helps:

Usually just clicking on SPAM when you receive the message will direct it to your SPAM FOLDER and any subsequesnt emails from this person will go there...if that doesn't work try below....

If you are using yahoo classic OR all new mail.....
Go to "Options" It is above your email
Click on "Mail Options"
Click on SPAM
Enter the address you want to block
Click on “Add Block”

On occasion the sender changes their name BEFORE @ so block that DOMAIN the following way...

If you are receiving several emails from the same domain, but various ID's, the easiest way to stop them is to enter the domain into your "Blocked Addresses".

In Yahoo! mail, to block the senders domain (hotmail.com):
◘ Click on "Options, upper right corner of mail page".
◘ Then "Mail Options".
◘ Click on "Spam" from the list on the left.
◘ In the "Add a blocked address" box, enter the domain (only the part of the email address AFTER @, do not include @).
◘ Click the "Add" button.

Now, any email from that domain, no matter what ID is used to send it, will be blocked.

How do you stop spam to yahoo mail?

When my first email address started to get spam, I flagged the messages as spam. That caused the number of messages to increase by a hundred fold in a few days. I had to open a new address. For that one, I just deleted the spam as it came, but it still increased steadily. The idea of turning off marketing emails under options did absolutely nothing to slow down any of the spam. My current addresses get at least a hundred spam emails a day, at least half of them offering me viagra at a discount rate. Since I'm a woman, I have obviously never ordered that. None of my current addresses have been given to any website or company, I have never signed up into any groups online or signed onto any kind of mailing list. Only my friends have the addresses, and they've never sent me anything that could have caused that. As an experiment, I even opened a dummy account and did absolutely nothing with it. It gets slammed by yahoo spam too, and not a soul on the planet knows it exists except me. In every single account, the spam folder only sorts out about half of the mess and the rest ends up in my inbox.

Am I missing something? Is there actually a way to stop or at least slow down this nonsense?

How can I keep responses to my Craigslist ad from going to my spam folder?

I tested by responding to my own Craigslist ad, and the email still goes to my spam folder(even though its from my yahoo address). I have several filters, but none of them should be diverting these responses to my spam folder.

Why do blocked emails in Gmail go to the Spam folder instead of completely blocking them from your inbox?

I would consider this a good thing, safer than dropping them blindly. I would think that the primary reason for blocking somebody is that they are an ex-spouse, ex-significant other, or other person who sends messages that are offensive and irritating. Routing them to spam keeps you from having to see them (how often do you actually look at your spam folder?). But if things escalate and your dog gets poisoned, car vandalized, or something like that, being able to access those messages you didn’t want to read could be important.

I got a text message about "discreet hookups". Is that spam? How did they get my #? How do you make it stop?

Yes this is spam text messages. Chances are they're sending it from an email address. Most carriers allow you to block text messages from email addresses, you can either call them or log into your account online.

It's really a pain. And sucks that companies can do that. Usually if you call and say something your carrier will credit you back that text.

How does the Gmail spam filter work?

Spam detection basically works on the basis of "filters" (settings that are constantly updated based on new technologies, new spam identification and the feedback given by Gmail users about potential spammers.)Spam filters use either the text filters, or it eliminates the threats based on senders and their history (whether the sender was reported or not, etc.)1) Text Filters:Text filters work by using algorithms to detect which words and phrases are most often used in the spam emails. Phrases like “male enhancement,” “vicodin,” and “online pharmacy” are often an immediate flag for removal by filters. Spammers have gotten wise to this, and often use blatant misspellings or even substitute characters (v1cadin for s4le) in order to make it past the filters.Fortunately, modern spam filters also make allowances for these types of misspellings and if a word comes up, even with character substitutions, the message will still be blocked.2) Client Filters:In addition to simple text filter algorithms, the top spam filters use client identity and history to block malicious or annoying spam e-mails. Now, how does a spam filter work? Well, this is done by looking at all of the messages a certain user has sent out. If they send out huge amounts of emails constantly, or if several of their messages have already been marked as spam through the text filters, their emails will often be blocked entirely. This brings us to the use the blacklists.Spam filters also include a blacklist. Blacklisting is simply the process of adding the known email address of a spammer to a list. This list prevents any inbound messages from the email address going forward. If you mark something as a spam, it will go in this blacklist. And it may also help Google (Gmail) make a note of certain key words in that spam mail. Reference- Page on Google. So that's the outline of spam detection; the real time processes are a lot more complex and consume a lot of data, too.
