How can I stop all the sex/dating ads?

Now, I understand that on just about every free website, there is going to be some kind of ads. And I think that based on what you search for it figures out your gender and stuff. I say this because half of the ads I get are for male enhancement drugs, which would not apeal to me if I was a girl (I am a guy).

I can live with those ads, they are just stupid. But I am SICK and TIRED of all the dating ads, looking for a girlfriend, sex, etc. They annoy the crap out of me, and I hate looking at them. And I have even seen a ad for married men and women looking to have an affair!

Does anyone know of a way to somehow change the ads so they will be geared towards games, or whatever, something other than sex and dating ads?

Please help stop the sex spam on my email?

The more you open, the more you will get of this. This is one time when Ignoring it Really Will make it go away! But, it takes a long time for the senders to get the message you are not interested. NEVER Open Attatchments unless you like your PC getting a virus. Scan your disc regularly. Block what you can. This WILL sound Silly, But, Get ONTO some Porn-sites. What this does is indicates the type of sex/porn that you are into. The sex-spam that does not fit into your category of 'liked porn' will stop being sent. When the Only sex stuff you get is from the sites you registered on, Cancel your account with them, never look back, & even consider changing your e mail address & provider. Sometimes, Taking on a New e mail address is viewed by porn spam Senders as a New Target to send to. I find it best to just stick with what you have & Ignore the Spam & Inbox mail that you are not interested in. Just because you recieve e mail, does Not mean that you Have to Open & Read it. Hope this has helped some. ORRR....... You could get the e addresses of those people you really hate & simply divert Your sex-spam to Their Addresses. Be careful though, as I don't think that doing that is legal. You might get into real trouble, or even worse, Your enemies might be grateful to recieve it !!!! Good Luck !!

How can I stop being terrified of my email inbox?

Do they really need doing?  All of them? I've coached many clients to declare "email bankruptcy" and delete all emails in their in-box.  In each case, they've been surprised at how few (e.g. none) issues arose from this decision.  If something is truly important, the requester will write again... or call. There are less drastic ways to do this: sort by sender and delete everything except the items from your boss; sort by date received and delete everything more than two weeks old; sort by number of addressees and delete everything not addressed to you-and-you-alone... etc. This is most useful if done as part of implementing a more effective email management scheme.  Check David Allen's GTD system as it relates to email, or Merlin Mann's "in-box zero" work for some ideas.  http://www.43folders.com/izeroGood luck!

How do I get rid of obnoxious ads in Gmail?

Are you talking about the ads in your promotions tab or under your social tab? All I do is click on the exit on the right on them and then Google asks me why I did the action I did. “Please tell us why you dismissed the ad.” Asking why I dismissed the ad. I don’t think there is a way to turn off these email marketing ads in your gmail since you accepted the terms and conditions to use Google products & services.

How can i stop all those advertisements and extra emails in my email?

You can not completely stop all spam, Stacey, but you can help to put a big dent in it.
First, try not to open any of them, that only makes them send more and more to you.
Check mark them and click on 'Spam,' this should stop those addresses from being delivered to your inbox.
Use your spam guard and block address.
Look for the 'Options' link at upper right corner of mail screen and click on it
Options /mail options
Click on 'spam' in the list on the left.
Make sure spam guard is on, by checking in the little box.
Then in 'Blocked Email Addresses,' enter the E-mail address you wish blocked, in the box after 'Add a blocked address' and click on the 'add' button, then click on save changes at top left of screen.
You will never get mail from that address again.
This should help you to control your spam.
Other tips:
Do not ever open E-mail from people you do not know; and unless you are absolutely sure who it is from then treat them as spam.
Opening spam alerts the sender that your address is a valid one and they send you loads and loads more of it to you.
Never, ever give out your account information or other personal information to anyone.
If you are on a site and you absolutely have to sign up for something, check the entire page to make sure you uncheck any lines wanting to send you any other info, notices, catalogs, ads, and the like.
Added detail:
Yes, spammers change one item in their addresses a lot, so you might try blocking the entire domain, by putting in
*@ thedomainyouwanttoblock.com
for instance: *@seeyou.com
Or, if they change the domain, instead of the company name you can block the name by putting in Imatheft_inc@*
Hope this helps
