How Do I Stop My Puppy From Peeing Infront Of The Door

How to get the dog to stop peeing in my sons room?

im not sure. but maybe she is trying to protect her territory. so if another dog smells the room he/she knows the room is your dogs area. my dog would always pee near my little brother when he was around a year. dogs can sense little babies. <------heard that on animal planet. anyway, she may stop after he gats a little older which my dog did. we also gave little smacks on the butt but she never stoped. like i said she stopped as my brother grew about a year and a half and started walking. I would keep the doors closed and take the dog outside on a leash when she appears to have to go,then I would sanitize your sons room

also sounds like she is marking her territory-she needs to be told in a stern voice,NO!! It's the smell. Even with cleaning, if you're not getting every bit of the urine smell out, the dog is smelling it.

Try cleaning the area where the dog goes with white vinegar. That will help neutralize it. But to be frank, you might have to out the old carpet, get some good professional cleaners down on what ever the base was and replace the carpet to get the smell completely out.

You should also get your dog on a schedule. Go back to crate training for a while. Take the dog outside after it's been sleeping, eating, drinking or playing. Use a command with his eliminations (I use "go potty") and praise when it goes outside.

Unless you catch the dog IN THE ACT, punishing or hitting the dog will not help at all. If you catch the dog in the act, a vebal "no" or "eh-eh" then taking the dog to the outside potty spot is appropriate.

The dog is in the habit of doing this so you're not going to get it to stop right away. Going back and doing potty training as if it's a puppy (meaning about 8 trips outside a day) will help a lot. you may want to go to this websitei provided. its a show in real life and the host lady always trains angels from the most rotten dogs. i also heard of this spray that can be sprayed on the carpet and on the door of your sons room. the spray makes your dog not go to the bathroom there at all. we got some at petsmart or we also saw it at petco as well. it works very well. its probably also another reason my dog stopped peeing near my brother. http://animal.discovery.com/tv/its-me-or-dog/index.html

Why does my puppy keep peeing in front of the door?

I have a 4 month old German shepherd, Belgium malinois mix and we are working on potty training at the moment. She has bells on the door that she is supposed to ring when she needs to go outside. So far she will only use them when she has to poop. As far as peeing goes, she will take me to the door about 30% of the time and squat before I ever have the chance to open the door. The other about 70% of the time she has to pee, she will go wherever she pleases. When she goes in the house, she is instantly surprised by being yelled at and them carries onto the front lawn. I am desperate for suggestions on how to train her that peeing in the house is very very bad. I can't seem to teach her.
She is rewarded with treats when she pees outside and praised generously.
Please help me. My carpet is ruined.... :)

How do I stop my neighbors dog from peeing by my front door?

There is a solution that has a very high chance of working but it is not something I would usually post on a public forum as it's pretty gross. I'm not sure whether you're male of female but if you're male or you have a partner/ brother then this will be helpful. We had the same problem with a neighbours dog except that it would come into our yard and pee on some very expensive car wheels everyday without fail. We were told to put water it was peeing as a dog won't pee in a water bowl (but our dogs kept knocking it over or drinking it) OR now comes the gross bit, pee on it yourself..... It's even better if you've met the dog as they know you. Most dogs realise that whatever it is has been marked by a human and humans are usually alpha so they won't pee there again. Desperate to not let our wheels be ruined as well as everything else my husband finally tried it and low and behold it hasn't happened again! Gross but it stops the problem plus you can wash it off and they'll still smell it and know that spot has been claimed. Good Luck :)

How can I stop my dog peeing to the fridge door?

Do NOT clean up the mess with ammonia!! It has the same scent as their urine and will actually attract them to that area again. Someone else brought up a good point. If it is not neutered you will not be able to stop the problem. If it is neutered then you can either buy a special pet stain cleaning solution (any pet store should have some) or use a solution of vinegar and water (50:50) and that will remove the scent. To avoid future occurances take dog out more frequently (use positive markers when he goes outside), use a kennel when you're gone and use negative markers when you catch him in the act.

Dog peeing in front of the doorway of my newborns room. How do I get it to stop?

Your dog is marking because you brought a new family member home...the dog should soon adjust and stop marking, BUT, in the meantime, is the dog neutered? If not, you should consider it...marking drives are often diminished by neutering. Second, watch the dog more closely, even block him off from getting access to your son's room (baby gate?).

As far as the carpet...it's happened to a lot of dog owners who trusted their dogs too soon. Counter surfing, digging, jumping, nipping...all are simple training issues. Insist your husband train the dog...if he can't do it himself, hire a trainer or behaviorist.

Your dog sounds perfectly normal (and a little spoiled), but needs you and your husband to teach him about acceptable behavior. Your husband is wrong to think the dog should be treated as a human...he's a dog, he should be treated like a dog, he needs to be treated like a dog, and he WANTS to be treated like a dog (do you treat your husband like he's a toddler? Like he's a kitten? Honestly-start petting your husband, offering him treats, and scolding him when he makes you mad...maybe smack him with a rolled up newspaper until he sees the light! Just as your husband would think it ridiculous to treat him like you treat a dog, the dog feels the same way-your husband confuses the dog when he, as the leader, doesn't set boundaries).

If the dog is peeing in only one spot, as it sounds, buy a few gallons of an enzyme based cleaner (like Simple Solution or Nature's Miracle...PetCo has a store brand, too, that is cheaper), and SOAK the carpet, the pad...all the way down to the floor in the area the dog has marked and let it dry naturally (it will take a few days). This will allow the enzymes to eat away at the mess (and the smell that is still there and noticeable to the dog).

You shouldn't have to throw the dog away over this...just get him trained.

How do I stop my cat from peeing and pooping in the house?

Your question is a little vague. Do you mean A) your cat is peeing and pooping outside its litterbox, i.e. on the floor? Or do you mean B) that you’d prefer to not have a litterbox at all but train the cat to go outside to do its business? If you meant “A”, get your cat to the vet immediately. It is possible the cat has a UTI, which can become very serious and will only be cured through antibiotic. Cats can also have types of inflammatory bowel diseases which require treatment. If your kitty is still a young kitten, it’s still learning how to use the litterbox consistently, and it requires patience on your part.Keep the litterbox sparkling clean. Clean it every single day. The upside is that if you do it daily, it’s much less unpleasant to do. Cats don’t want to step in filth; imagine trying to poop in a toilet that had not been flushed for a week. You could get a self-cleaning box if you want to invest the money.Get a product called “Cat Attract” litter. It’s kind of pricey, but you can just put a 1-inch layer on top of your regular litter to attract the cat to the box, and that makes it last much longer. It’s worth it, and it works. Now, if you meant “B”, that you want your cat to only poop/pee outdoors, that’s not going to happen. In the summer, my cats will do their business outdoors about half the time, but not because I’ve trained them, just because they want to. (I have a dog door, so they come and go as they please.) They still use the litterbox in the summer, though not as much. Right now, the dead of winter, they are using only the box.Part of having any pet is cleaning up its waste. It’s not fun, but it’s a fact. The joy of having a sweet, purring kitty is well worth the effort.

My puppy keeps peeing when I leave him alone. What do I do?

I have a 5 mnth. old shih tzu puppy who keeps peeing whenever I leave him behind. If i put him in my room and close the door he pees at the door. When I put him in his play area closed off by the gate and walk away he pees. Why is he doing this? Is it revenge, fear, submission? Also, HOW DO I STOP THIS?
