How fast of a wireless router do I need to watch Netflix's streaming movies?
The speed of the wireless router is really not relevant since all wireless routers, even 802.11b (old standard), is 11 mbps (Megabites per second). Most internet connections are far below this speed so your connection to the internet is the real limiting factor. Netflix streaming is available at 3 different levels. Basic which is 500 kb/sec or 0.5 mbps, Good 1 mbps, and High which is 1.6 - 2.2+ mbps. Poor reception however can significantly slow down your connection speed and therefore is also a factor. When the signal level drops below a certain level, the router and network card attempt to renegotiate at a slower speed to reestablish signal. Make sure your computer is close enough to your router with little interference to make sure you are getting the best possible speed from your router.

You should stick with wired. It would probably be better to set up a computer to store all your digital videos on, and use "PS3 Media Server" to serve content to the PS3. Or bypass the PS3 and buy a computer with video out for your TV, and play your videos in VLC. Use VLC Remote Free to control that from your iphone.

Handbrake is an excellent resource to have for OS X if you're converting video files. http://handbrake.fr/ It will take MKV files (and nearly anything else) and then you can export as nearly any video file you need. They have a preset for PS3 which you might find helpful. Can the Xbox 360 play 1080p (Full HD) videos?
I know the Xbox cannot support Blu-Ray etc. But i've bought a Wifi adaptor for it so I can stream files from my PC. It can now play videos I have stored on my computer but what video file format is the highest quality, so I can stream it from my PC and play it on ym TV? Why does my video have lines of distortion?
I used to stream Netflix and video over my PS3, and it always looked crystal clear. Now I'm using a PC hooked up via HDMI to my television, and it has problems. When it's sitting still it looks fine. But when the video moves fast or jumps, near the top of the screen it gets lines of distortion that look like the video is skipping. Is there anything I can do to resolve that?
