How Do I Tighten Up My Almost Flat Stomach Before I Go Out Tomorrow Night

My stomach is flat when I lay on my back, but when I lay on my side, it sticks out and hangs down. How can I be less insecure about this?

Some people feel that losing weight will help us be more accepting of our bodies. This is not the truth - at least it was not for me. I lost over 80 pounds and I still could not look in the mirror and see it - the lost weight. People would tell me that I looked great - I could not see it. I could not see myself without the weight I had all of my life. Now that I have regained some of it I feel better but still it’s not good because I know I need to keep the weight off for my future health. This is a question for the ages. I think the answer for me will be when I accept myself as….me. Sure, I need to eat healthier but I don’t know if that will resolve my self-image problems. And it is about self-image. What I see when I look in the mirror is never what others see but it is the most important thing.As to the question about why your stomach is flat laying down and sticks out when standing, it is something to do with gravity. And losing that stomach weight - which is probably one of the hardest places to lose weight - will not make you more secure until you see yourself differently. Good luck with that one!

Do you suck in your stomach when you work out and is it a good/bad idea?

Like a few others stated, there is a difference between tightening or engaging your abs, and sucking. Sucking in so you can like see a drop off from your ribs, bad idea.

Your core is essential in any exercise, mainly to keep your body stable. What keeping a tight core does is protects your spine, because when people do to much weight or get too tired on their exercises, their form gets bad and usually than causes more chance of injury.

By making sure you are keeping your core tight during your exercises, you are giving that strong base for the rest of your body to work off of.

Is crunches good to lose weight and tighten your stomach?

Ok some a lot of u are a big help :) but some of you are just plain rudee. anyways like i am eating healthier, i drink lots of water, and i jog almost everyday.. does that help anyone answer the question better?

Is it true that it is unnatural for women/men to have a complete flat stomach?

I've actually wondered that myself...because I can't seem to get mine flat. I think I used to do crunches the wrong way though. I read a study that said you should pull your abs in tight when you work them out...almost like you were trying to make them curve in and touch the floor under you while you are doing crunches. Keep them tight...but pulled in. The study said that alot of people just push their abs out and tighten them as tight as they can...but the study said that over time...that can actually cause a person's abs to develop an outward curve. So...even if you had a "six pack"...your stomach would still stick out some. Not sure if there was any truth to it...but it kind of made sense to me.

How to tighten loose skin after pregnancy?

excersise

crunches, push up, jogging..etc pretty much any excersise gets you toned up just dont eat fried food or much soda
water and vegetables and fruits not much meat.
work out at least 30 minutes for 3 times a week.

I'm not fat, but my stomach sticks outs like I'm pregnant but I'm not.?

I'm (almost) a 14 year old girl, and I'm wondering if this is normal or not.

I'm actually very muscular, like when I wake up and there's no food in me, or when I tighten my stomach I have muscles there. I only weight about 100 pounds and I'm muscular and actually skinny all over except my stomach, most of the time, bulges out and it really looks like I'm pregnant. I do get my period regularly, and it's all the time, not just when I'm on/near my period. I'm not sexually active, so there's no way that I could be actually pregnant. I'm wondering if this is normal.. because my friends tease me about it, but I take it lightly, I don't obsess over being skinny and being perfect like most girls. For the most part I like my body, so I don't let it get to me. I'm not sure if it's a gut.. because I do kind of eat a LOT. :P Or what..? If you need pictures I can provide them, but hopefully you get what I'm trying to say? Basically I look like I'm in the very early stages of pregnancy. So whats causing this and is it normal?

Will sucking in your stomach / flexing your stomach during the day do anything?

This is true, when you inhale you let your stomach relax normally, when you exhale, suck in and tighten your stomach almost as if you were trying to get it to touch your spine. Do this as many times as you can each time you think of it. No one can see you do it, you can do it while driving, working, bathing, eating, ect. You will feel your muscles in the abdomen get sore for the tightening, yes this does work, give it a try.
