Usually the Admissions Office will do that as part of the admissions process. They will ask you to have “official” copies of your transcripts for all schools attended sent to the new school. You usually do that by calling the Registrar’s Office at your old school, and paying a nominal sum…maybe $5.00. Because of strict privacy rules, there is probably an official request form to fill out and return to, or take to your old school. Check their web site to see if you can make the request on-line. The transcript will then be evaluated by the new school’s admissions office and/or by the academic dept to see if the courses are equivalent to the new school’s courses. Usually no courses below a C grade will transfer. Do not put the transcript request off until the last minute. These things can take time, and you might not be able to register for the courses you need .

If you wait until the end of your second year to apply to transfer, you may have to wait one year until the new college accepts you and permits you to start.
