How Do I Transfer My Bookmarks From My Home Computer To My E-mail For Storage So I Can Access Them

How do I import my bookmarks from one computer to another?

If you don't want the hassle of creating a chrome/google account and a one off copy will suffice, then you can just export  then import them in the new browser. On your old computer:Export bookmarks from ChromeClick the Chrome menu  on the browser toolbar.Select Bookmark manager.Click the Organize menu in the manager.Select Export bookmarks.Chrome will export your bookmarks as a HTML file, which you can then import into another browser.Save the HTML file onto a USB flash drive and transfer it onto the new computer. On the new computer:Import bookmarks from all other browsersClick the Chrome menu  on the browser toolbar in Google Chrome.Select Bookmark manager.Click the Organize menu in the manager.Select Import bookmarks.Open your saved HTML file. This process is documented here: http://support.google.com/chrome...All major browsers have the option to export and import bookmarks/favourites not just from the same browser but between different browsers as well. If you plan on continuing to use the old browser/computer then you should probably use syncing via the google account instead so that it is centralised and changes kept up to date on all your chrome browsers.

HOW DO I GET MY GOOGLE CHROME STUFF OFF OF MY SCHOOL COMPUTER?

You can sign into Google without signing into Chrome (just sign into the Google web page not Chrome), in my opinion Chrome Sync is quite a serious security flaw, it is likely to have synced most of the other browser data as well, not just bookmarks.

First, read this https://support.google.com/chrome/answer... read the information under the heading "I accidentally signed in to Chrome on a public computer. How do I delete all my synced data from that computer?", then click the link "Learn how to delete a user". It should take you to the bottom of another page, click "Delete a user" and read the instructions. This should be quite simple to do and it will remove your synced data from Chrome on that computer.

Basically what it says is you just need to go to the Chrome menu, then Settings, scroll down to the heading "Users" and click the button "Delete" (if there is more than one user) or "Delete this user" (if there is one user), so you need to delete the current user if that is the profile that has your data on it. Try to delete the current user first, then if you can't, create a new user and then delete the other user that has your data.

Deleting the user on the school computer should not affect your data on your computer at home. If you want to you could back your bookmarks up for peace of mind by going to Bookmarks in the Chrome menu, then Bookmark Manager, click Organize, then "Export bookmarks to HTML file...", to import them again, click "Import bookmarks from HTML file...", but you shouldn't need to do that.

Someone else mentioned disconnecting from Chrome. I don't mean to be critical, but I think I should mention that all that does is stop the sync process on the disconnected computer, it does not delete the data which is already there (which is saved to the computer its self). You might want to do that anyway though on your home computer to prevent any future mistakes.

Do lots of bookmarks take up space on my android phone?

They can contribute but It's probably not the only factor. You'd have to have a TON of bookmarks for it to make any noticable difference whatsoever. They're not a big memory sucker by any means.
However, combined with other factors like old text messages, too many contacts, a lot of cached content, fragmentation etc. Your phone can be clogged up and slowed down.
In fact every time you download an app it creates folders on your phone to hold its files, and even if you delete or uninstall the app, some of those folders and files are left behind in what some people call a "memory footprint" and over time those add up too.
Here's what I would recommend:
1. Download the dropbox app.
2. Sign in or create an account
3. Sync all content you want to keep to your dropbox account. (Pictures music etc.)
4. Make sure other content you want is either on your SD card or synced to your Google account. (Contacts should be synced with your Google account)
5. Reset your phone to factory defaults. (This can be done in the settings. It's slightly different on different phones but may be located under privacy. )
6. Once your phone is wiped download the dropbox app again and sign in Then download all of the content you want on your phone.

When starting up your phone it should tell you to sign into your Google account and that will automatically restore your contacts.

... If you're really super worried about losing your bookmarks you can just download any file manager/viewer app (there's plenty) and use it to go through all of the files on your phone and delete the ones that are old/unused. This will take a while and be careful not to delete anything important.

How to back up bookmarks in case your computer crashes?

I have bookmarks on my laptop (my favorite websites, like 100 of them).

My laptop is Inspiron 1525 Dell.

I’m using Firefox.

My question is how I can back up my bookmarks (like online on my e-mail account) and how to retrieve them in case my laptop crashes so I can get them back?

Last time my computer crashed, I had to spend a lot of time to search and get back my favorite websites.

Thanks guys.

Does anyone know where the Google chrome icons are stored?

This is probably a very stupid question, but a friend of mine changed my desktop icons in Windows 7. I'd really like my old icons back, but am unfamiliar with Windows 7, and can't seem to find where the Google chrome icons are stored on my hard drive, if they are at all. Is there any way to undo this without reinstalling the program? I'm speaking specifically about the desktop icon, no theme add-ons or anything. Thanks in advance! (:

What file extension does IE use to store the Favorites?

It stores them in a directory at

C:\documents and settings\USERNAME\Favorites. They are stored as links to the pages, usually .htm or html extensions.

Why can't I transfer my music to fill up flash drive?

Every time I drag and drop approx 950 Mb of music on to my 1 Gb flash drive, the transferring always stops in the range of 150 items, 350 Mb. I get the same error every time: "Error 0x80070052: The directory or file cannot be created." How can I fix this? I got the same error when I tried using a different 1 Gb memory card. Same error occurs when I try to drag only 1 file after the limit has been reached. It kinda seems like the capacity has been reached on the flash drive but I dont know. Thanks for help.

How do I recover my favorites list?

if you used firefox then..

C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\{something...

In that last folder with a string of characters ending in .default, you may find a bookmarks.html file or a bookmarks.bak file. Those are normally your latest bookmark file and its backup. If the .html file doesn't exist or if it is zero (or near zero) bytes, then it has been lost or corrupted somehow. Hopefully, your .bak file is fine. You can simply double click on it to load it in your default browser to check it out. Make a backup of it somewhere else safe. Then change the extension from .bak to .html and launch Firefox.

If I uninstall Chrome and then install a fresh version, will my bookmarks repopulate when I reinstall the browser?

Hello,Any malware or popup item will most possibly return because they usually are able to be synched with Google Sync too.. So I would exactly do those below X 5 in order to feel safe. A browser is nearly everything on your computer these days.Go to settings. Find home pages / start pages. Enter. Clean the ones that you did not intentionaly added. I only leave google for instance. Then find your extensions. Send the ones to trash which you did not installed by yourself. Also the ones you have no idea what they are about.Quit Chrome. The use some system cleaners and security software. CCleaner for cleaning would do. Choose every checkbox for Chrome.Use Avast Browser Cleanup. Erase the suspicious addons.I assume that you are protected with a decent security suite. If not, it has got to be the first thing. For free, install Avast or Comodo or etc etc...Then use some anti malware. Malwarebytes, Superantispyware, Spybot, Bitdefender Anti- Adware. Then run some third party anti virus cleaners.Panda Virus Cleaner, Kaspersky Virus Cleaner and Sophos Virus Cleaner would do.Uninstall Chrome. RebootReinstall Chrome. Insert your user credentials. It will sync with your old items and settings except the malicious. Each and every step is crucial. Dont miss a point or change their order. You can and shoud rerun cleaners and anti malware software after reinstallation.Hope this helps. Sorry for the typos etc. I could not reread what I have written. Good luck...Warmest Regards,Alp
