How Do I Treat A Moderate To Severe Dettol Burn

Dettol face burn; Removal of marks? HELP!?

I know how this has occurred (water in Dettol evaporating faster than phenol solutions) I did a medical journal search, but found nothing on treatment. I do know that irrigating the burns with polyethylene glycol (300 or 400) is a procedure for removing the phenol. This because the necrotic (dead) tissue interferes with treating the good tissue. I assume you irrigated the burns with water initially, which is correct.
You'll really need to see a dermatologist to see what to use as aftercare. It would be wrong for me to suggest anything. One thing you should NOT do though is use a closed dressing on chemical burns.

Dettol burn on face. Need help. How to remove the scar permanently? How long will it take to heal?

Sounds like you have more than a superficial burn! Dettol is definitely too strong for your skin. ALWAYS try the least harsh option first. Your skin is an organic, living entity. It's not a plastic thing which will respond to a quick fix treatment!Sadly, I learnt the lesson the wrong way too.You need to see a doctor / dermatologist for accurate medical advice. While I waited for my dermatologist appointment, I used a hydrating moisturizer everyday and dabbed some vitamin-E oil to soothe my burn mark. My scar was there for about 2 months or so and the dark mark had completely faded after about 5–6 months. It was a long time to regret my impulsive choice!Try witch hazel, tea tree oil or some benzoyl peroxide next time.Hope your scar heals soon!

DETTOL - In mouth...?

My brother actually uses Dettol as a gargle.... diluted though. Tell your mate to drink heaps of water - he'll be fine.

I have burned my face after applying undiluted dettol on my face for too long, will I have a permanent scar on my face?

I am not sure about your age, but I am assuming that you are a teenager. Even if you are not, don't panic. It will fade on its own. But it might take longer as the rejuvenation become slower as we advance in age.I have done the same when I was 17. I was so frustrated with my pimple covered face and I reached my breaking point when two vicious cystic acne emerged on my already inflamed and scarred face one fine morning. So I applied 1-2 drops of undiluted dettol on them, as a kind of night therapy. It was burning like hell, but I did not mind as I expected this(not to mention my secret joy that my little enemies are getting burnt up). I expected dettol to kill all the bacteria and the acne would be gone by the next day(or at least got reduced to the size of other pimples on my face- believe me, I had many). But I woke up to two pea sized red scars on my face, which became black and finally brown. But, no one noticed anything, because my face was already scarred and to be frank, even I was not that irritated because I felt two scars are better than 2 huge acne. But it got cleared in almost one year. Now I am 22 and there is no trace of those scars on my face. My skin is inherently oily and I still get some pimples occasionally. Even though my face had cleared up a lot(as compared to my teenage years) I still have some scars and enlarged pores. But I no longer care much about them. I have realised that ultimately, some acne and brown marks will not make any changes in my life and the absence of them will not make me any more perfect than I am now.Peace.

Is dettol good for your face ?

Dettol is a serious disinfectant. I really wouldn't advise it for use on the face, because the skin is so sensitive. You should use some kind of face wash really. Dettol was used many years ago for cleaning scrapes and scratches and such (my grandmother swore by the stuff) but now it is more of a cleaning product used to disinfect surfaces. It will also strip your skin of the good bacteria that help prevent spots. I would not advise it for use on the face.

I got my tongue burnt bad while one senior told me to drink dettol,I cannot taste anything how can i cure it.?

Icing or drinking milk it might make it feel better, but I think you're going to have to wait for the skin to fall off before it will heal completely. Luckily for you the mouth heals itself pretty fast, just wait it out.

Good luck, hope you feel better! :D
