Hi, another method I wanted to share with you is via System Preferences (in the Dock). You select System Preferences (also available via the Apple Menu in the upper-left corner of your Dekstop) then select "Desktop and Screen Saver." From within, you may choose: Apple Images Nature Plants Black & White Abstract Solid Colors Pictures iPhoto Albums Aperture Projects You may choose any theme from your iPhoto Albums or Aperture Projects. Just click to choose and the wallpapers are updated automatically to your desktop. Good luck, I hope this helps. This should work with any version of Mac OS X.

Animated desktops are not natively supported. However there's something called nerdtool that can do it using Quartz Composer (not an animated GIF). Read the nerdtool docs and give it a go.
