How Do I Use A Palmone Lifedrive As A Phone

Can I put android on a palm lifedrive?

Where can I get a version of Yahoo Messenger for Palm OS?

this might work (I did not try it on Palm OS)

Do I have to convert video files to play them on PALM OS?

You do not need to convert certain files, such as mpeg or AVI or even PDF or DOC if you have the correct application installed on your palm to open these files, and if you have enough space on the handheld (put the files on an SD card).

For video, use TCPMP (open-source and free player) for mpeg or avi:
http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/about

For PDF and DOC, I would highly recommend purchasing DocumentsToGo from Dataviz at http://www.dataviz.com/documents

Also, you can encode DVDs and put them on your Palm and play with the TCPMP player. The encoding program is called Palm Media Studio and you can buy it at http://www.makayama.com/dvdtopalm.html It is a great, easy-to-use program. When encoded, each full movie from your DVD is about 250 MB of space.

I would suggest getting a SanDisk 1 or 2 GB SD card for storage purposes.

As for your battery question, the Palm T/X should have about 3 hours or so of battery if you constantly use the Internet. The wireless keyboard does not take too much from your battery. WiFi takes a lot more.

I have the Palm LifeDrive, and if I use WiFi, I get approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes of consistant use. Also, when I watch DVD on it, a full movie takes about 15 - 20% of the battery. The battery use would really depends on the program you use, whether application, games, Web surfind, IMing. It really depends. Also, there other ways of extending your battery such as reducing screen brightness. I would greatly recommend getting a travel kit which includes a charger. I use both a home and a car charger. They are both very useful.

Palm tungsten t5 vs palm TX??

Great answer Andy.

In addition, the T5 can be used as a jump drive.

What are the best palm products?

Your question is too vague. What are you looking to do with your Palm? If you are asking what is "the latest and greatest" Palm handheld, the answer is the Palm LifeDrive, which has 4 GB hard drive, WiFi, Bluetooth, gorgeous large screen, SD card slot, voice-record, and other features. Price is around $399, but you can get them a bit cheaper on eBay (much cheaper if you buy a used unit). As for Palm's Smartphone, the Treo, is a great, powerful phone/PDA fusion. One thing that I don't like with the Treo that it does not have built-in WiFi. Palm units are easy to use, so that may be an advantage if you are a newbie user.

How do I delete all personal data from a Palm Tungsten E2?

Modern day palm pilot-y type thing...help?

pretty much all PDAs do PIMs or Personal Information Manager
-they include but are not limited to datebook/calendar, memos, ToDo, and addressbook/contacts applications
-since the entries or records are VERY small, you can easily have a thousand contacts and appointment dates and still be just fine
-they also have alarms
-nowadays, only old or VERY low end PDAs caN'T do photos and music.

Without a cellphone capability, u save on data plans from cell providers, but you're now liimted to wifi or bluetooth (BT) for internet connectivity. BT requires accessories and a WL (wireless) setup somewhere to access via BT. Wifi is much more common, but again, u['ll need wifi access to get internet. That could be done at home with a WL setup, or at other places like airports, coffee bars, etc. Some outside places like airports may charge to use internet for wifi. I find it's much better to wiat to get to a home desktop to do internet stuff, but that's just my pref.

yes and no on Palm Pilots. Palm Pilot is the first (or 2nd) PDA that Palm came out with, which of course is long outdated and not sold retail anymore. But the term is also used to describe a Palm PDAs in general. Similar to how Personal Computer is used to describe computers with Windows operating system, to distinguish it from Macs or Linux computers.

The Palm Tungsten X has wifi and does everythign else. The LifeDrive also works, tho it's got a microdrive which gives it more memory, but could make it more cumbersome to use.

Microsoft Pocket PC models running Windows Mobil is a stripped down version of desktop windows. Many more of them than Palms have wifi. Models like the Dell Axim x50, x51, and x51v come to mind. Also the HP ipaqs will fit the bill.
