HDMI - Do I have a port to watch movies?

Hello Jerri :-)

Apparently, the Latitude E series does NOT have HDMI per se, but it has what is called a DisplayPort v1.1. The displayport connector requires an adapter to connect to an HDMI cable.

Here is a quote I got off a tech website regarding it...

You're not doing anything wrong... and please don't try to force the cable. HDMI should be an easy to plug-in cable if it's the correct cable. Sounds as though an adapter is required to go from "DisplayPort" to HDMI.

"The Latitude E series uses Display port 1.1.
All display port versions have the same plug, so make sure that your Display port to HDMI adapter and/or cable (depending how you decide to set everything up) is Display Port 1.1 with audio ready."

Hope this helps,
Jeff

Why can't I watch movies on my Vizio TV from my external hard drive?

I have a Vizio LCD TV that has a USB port, so I tried to hook up my external hard drive to watch the movies I have on it, but it doesn't appear to give me the option to watch them. Any suggestions or instructions on how to do this, or if it's not something I can do, why not?

I'm not sure if the details of the TV matter, but it's a Vizio LCD 42" 120Hz HDTV

Can I connect a TV to a mobile through a charger USB cable for movies?

You can connect your Android phone to your TV if it supports HDMI Output. Most premium phones that are out today support this feature. You can do a google search and find out if yours does. You'll be needing a micro usb to HDMI cable for the connection, and a normal charger USB cable won't work. This is because normal TVs don't support MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) used by Android devices to connect to PC.

Can I play videos on dynex tv through usb port?

I have a dynex 32l100a13 it has a usb port, I plugged in a usb thumb drive with some videos on it. I could look through the folders on the drive but I couldn't see the videos I had on it. The videos were in wmv and avi formats. Do the videos have to be to be a certain format? If so what format?

Can you use Roku without the internet?

Yes. The only device that needs to be connected to the internet is the Roku, itself. If you have a Roku Stick model, it will connect via your WiFi and get power from either an available USB port on your tv, or connected to a power adapter. If your Roku isn’t a Stick model, it may have an Ethernet port. If it does, it’s always preferable to wire it to your router. If not, all Roku models can connect wirelessly.

How do I play a movie on a DVD player using USB?

Well, if there’s a USB input available on your DVD Player, then obviously you can watch some movies with that DVD player. But be reminded that most DVD players only support a certain type of movies that are in AVI files, and more importantly, employed with xvid or divx codecs. So as long as they are supported by your DVD player, you can watch them with complete ease. You just have to transfer the movies to your USB, and then you have to connect it to your DVD player. And once you are done, then simply grab your remote, press the USB/DVD button and select the movie that you want to enjoy.Simple.The DVD player will start playing that movie right away. But if the movie is not in AVI format or coded with xvid or divx, then I am afraid it won’t play. What you then have to do is to switch on your computer, download and launch a handy DVD burning tool like DVD Creator and convert that movie into a DVD friendly format. And then when you play it on a DVD player, it will start playing without showing any error message. So even if a movie doesn’t play at the first time, you can still watch it on your DVD player using a USB.You just have conver it first to a DVD friendly format.Checkout here to learn more about converting videos DVD Creator - Tame The Chaos And Burn VideosHope this helpsCheers…

What size laptop screen would be best for me?

I'm wavering between 15.4" and 17" screens, (both widescreen, manufactured by HP).

This laptop will be my only computer, and I'll often use it to watch movies. I will probably even use it to watch television with a USB TV tuner. However, the laptop will be right in front of me (if not in my lap, it will be at most 4 feet from my eyes... not halfway across the room).

I will also be taking it on trips, and to work via car, bus, and/or train (possibly every day, possibly only once in awhile).

So which screen size do you recommend? Is a 17" too big to be realistically portable? Or, will a 15.4" seem small after awhile, if I'm using it to watch video/TV/DVDs?

Thanks!

Can I cast a screen on a smart TV without an Internet connection?

Yes.. When you desire to watch movies, look at your photos, or listen to music from your Android phone on a large-format screen, it’s time to screencast:This technology takes the image presented on your phone (or music playing) and casts it to an HDTV or monitor. To successfully cast media, the HDTV or monitor must have a screencasting gizmo installed, such as Google’s Chromecast. After you set up that gizmo, the screencast works like this:Open the app that plays the media you want to watch or listen to.Compatible apps include Play Music, Play Movies & TV, YouTube, Netflix, and similar apps.Ensure that the HDTV or monitor is set to the proper HDMI input. For example, if a Chromecast dongle is installed on HDMI Input 4, switch the TV to that input. The casting dongle must be awake and active.Tap the Chromecast icon. The icon appears. If you don’t see this icon, the media cannot be cast to another device or the casting gizmo isn’t on (refer to Step 2).Choose a screencasting device from the list. The phone begins to send the media to the other device. You can still use your phone while it’s casting. The app may offer you controls, such as Play and Pause, or it might display additional information about the media. To end a screencasting session, tap the Chromecast icon again and tap the Disconnect button.
