dim sum, rice soup eaten with salted egg and a kind of fried bread that's called ''youtiao'' literally means ''oil strip''. It's really delicious. And they also eat noodle too. That's a traditional breakfast for chinese, they have a big break fast. Then for lunch and dinner they eat rice. Normally rice is served seperatly, each person will have his own lil bowl of rice. In a normal meal, there's stir fried vegetable (asians eat a lot of vegetables) and they also make cool foods with meat and fish too. Yeah, that's basically it.

Do Chinese people eat Chinese food?

Chinese love their food, and they are very proud of it too, Chinese culture revolves around the food.Chinese culture is very based on community living. They believe in eating together, meeting friends, family and business setting. Most of the restaurants in China have round tables, and with lazy Susan in the center, dishes come in small portions, they share it.Chinese have tremendous/endless variety of foods, and in my view one life is not enough to try it all.Chinese apartments in big cities are small, and people are extremely busy, therefore eating out is a tradition/or necessity.Street food is extremely abundant, and very reasonable.Chinese food industry believe in high volumes and low profit, the fact is, some or most of time if put all costs, eating out is cheaper than cooking at home.Chinese do eat hamburgers, KFC and try something new here and there, but most of the Chinese are in love with their own food.In case you are in China and you go hungry it is very unfortunate, Chinese have the food for an emperor and Chinese have food for a man in the street, and also people in between. It may be my humble guess, if you go hungry in China, it is very unfortunate and extremely bad luck.I hope it helps.regardssam

Do chinese people eat chinese take away food?

Yes, but it's the same food as in the restaurants.
Sometimes a restaurant may be full, or some people might just want to eat quietly. Occasionally my friends and I will go to one of out homes, make a phone call and have the food delivered, a few local places will do this. The delivery is free too.

Other times we just like to go out as a moderate group and each together.
Sometimes as a big group, we'll order lots of food and some beer.

Life is simple and good here.

Do chinese people eat cereal with chop sticks?

People in china have spoons and forks. When eating cereal a spoon is used.

I went to china when I was in the Air Force but I didn't notice cereal to be to common. The Chinese don't eat the processed sugar loaded stuff that us Americans eat. When I was there we always had rice and egg in the morning.

What do Chinese people think about Chinese food in the US?

Your assumption is correct. Most Chinese immigrants and relatives I know do not order Sesame Chicken or Orange Chicken or General Tso's Chicken because the dishes taste like they should be dessert to us. Most of the Chinese dishes served by a majority (not all) of American Chinese restaurants have too much sauce, too much meat to vegetable ratio, overcooked vegetables, overcooked meats and often are incorrectly spiced. They also do not include ingredients that we consider to be delicacies, like mushrooms, dried shrimp, lotus nuts, lotus root, real char siu, duck, dates, etc. More importantly, we are used to having a variety of foods and dishes. It is rare to eat the same dishes day after day, but the smaller American Chinese restaurants usually limit our choices to Broccoli and Beef, fried rice, or Chicken and vegetables, to a point where I am tired of eating the same dish over and over. Plus they all taste the same, bland or overly seasoned with soy sauce. Unfortunately, most Szechuan restaurants or dishes here in the U.S. don't resemble the native Szechuan dish at all. Most restaurants throw in a couple of hot chili peppers and call it Szechuan. Same goes for Kung Pao chicken. Kung Pao chicken is usually diced chicken stir fried with some peppers, ginger, garlic, diced vegetables and a soy (and or oyster sauce) based seasoning, not a sauce (like Panda Express does it). Yet in America, small American Chinese restaurants usually serve it swimming in a sauce and the chicken is a large piece, sliced chicken breast meat. It really is not the same. At least its edible, and usually one of the less offensive items on the menu.

Why don't Chinese speak at the dinner table?

The other answers correctly points that chinese restaurants are the noisiest place on earth, and chinese speak (or yell) during diner. But in other situations, for example student dining at school cantine, i find the Chinese tend to eat faster and less talkative than french/european. Also as soon as they finish eating, they leave (also to leave the table for someone else since it's always crawded). In France it is not usual to stay like 30min in cantine after finishing eating, just to chat. We just don't rush so fast to our dormitory to take a nap :pAlso big family diner are shorter in China than in France, and most of the talking is made before and after eating (unlike french, chinese don't have family lunch from 11am to 5pm).So maybe your idea of chinese eating quietly is based on this kind of observations, but it obviously doesn't hold in chinese restaurant.

Do Chinese people eat Ramen noodles?

Ramen is the Chinese pronunciation for la-mian or hand pulled noodles. Ramen is a Chinese dish introduced to Japan. Chinese were eating ramen long before Japanese. Chinese got A LOT more different noodle dishes than Japanese too.

If you are talking about instant noodles, then the answer is still yes. Instant noodles are popular in China too.

Side note:
Instant noodle was invented by a Taiwanese guy when Taiwan was still under Japanese occupation. Japan acquired Taiwan from the Qing Empire (China) in 1895 through the First Sino-Japanese War. Technically, instant noodle was invented by a Chinese.

@I_am_not_bad: Your copied and pasted info from Wiki is missing one detail. Scroll down to history and you'll see this:

"Ramen is of Chinese origin, however it is unclear when ramen was introduced to Japan." - Exact quote from Wiki.

Again, there are tons of Chinese la-mian (ramen) dishes available. Needless to say, Chinese do not call la-mian "ramen". Americans do not call hamburgers "hambaagu" for the exact same reason. Japanese are not that good at pronouncing words from other ethnic groups. Guess what Shina or Sina meant in Japanese? That's Japanese pronunciation for "China". :)
