How Do Some People Not Feel Pain

How do we know that unconscious people do not feel pain?

This would be a great answer for an anesthesiologist. But as a surgeon, I can do my best. A slightly better answer would be" How do we know that unconscious people do not experience pain?" Pain, as the sensation of an unconscious stimulus, is blocked by general anesthesia. Patient's that have surgery don't sense the unpleasantness on the conscious level. That's where pain is really felt and experienced. And most importantly, remembered. Certain neurons might fire in response to painful stimuli along the sensory cortex, but the conscious part of the brain that remembers, that reacts emotionally to pain, is unattached and thus, unaware. Curiously, we don't really know how general anesthetics work. But we do know that patient's can safely undergo surgery and have no recollection of the experience.

How can someone not feel the pain?

By feeling the pain !the thing is to build resistance. Because if the pain is external like most of the times it is, you need to go through it, experience it  and once you have done that, you will be stronger than before, better than before but in order to get there you need to push through the pain.these things need to start from within you. healing starts from the inside. Once you have got control of your inner thoughts you will start to let go of the pain.Focus on yourself. Because realistically you always feel the pain but if you have experienced it before then this time you'll not feel it, at least not the way you did before.Or better yet the newer version of you  might not even get into a situation where it feels pain.Just focus on yourself and make yourself better. Pain is your friend. IT makes you better. Push through it and ask for more.

Why do some people don't feel any pain when they get a wisdom tooth?

Simply Smiles Dentistry, Glen Carbon Briana Oller, DMDIt really isnt necessary to have your wisdom teeth removed if they are properly positioned and do not cause any pain or other dental problems, such as an infection. However, if they are impacted or they are causing crowding problems for your other teeth, your dentist will most likely recommend that you have them taken out.Source: Do You Know You Can Reverse Your Teeth Cavities Naturally?Wisdom teeth that are impacted can sometimes collide with the roots of your molars, which can be very painful. Also, while your impacted wisdom teeth are trying to break through, the wisdom teeth can wear down the tooth next to it and lead to many dental issues. If you decide not to have your wisdom teeth taken out, be sure to floss your teeth on a very consistent basis, being sure to get all the way to the back teeth, and be sure to use mouth wash with fluoride. The decision is really up to you. Wisdom teeth that dont cause a lot of crowding and dont hurt are ok to keep. However, many dentists will recommend that they be taken out. They do this because wisdom teeth and the ones they are touching are highly susceptible to cavities and are not easy to clean. If your wisdom teeth have cavities and you cant clean them due to their location, filling the cavities is not a good idea because new cavities will continue to appear. The easiest way to avoid any problems caused by your wisdom teeth is to have them removed. There really isnt a set age to have your wisdom teeth taken out. Some people have them taken out when they are teenagers and others wait until they are adults. If your wisdom teeth need to be removed, its better to have them out at a younger age because the healing process would be faster. However, if you are already into your 40s with all of your wisdom teeth and they arent causing you any trouble, having them removed is not necessary.Your dentist will let you know what you can eat after your wisdom teeth have been removed. Some of their suggestions might include pudding, mashed potatoes, soup, applesauce, jello, or milkshakes.

How do some people not feel electric shock?

How is it that some people don't feel electric shock?

I have a friend who can't feel electric shock. At least to a certain degree.

He first became aware when he pushed on a shocking pen. Other people were using it, and getting shocked, and dropping the pen. He held on until the battery died, and said he didn't feel anything. He tried other small shocking toys, and still nothing. On another occasion, he decided to try to grab an electric horse fence. Again, he felt nothing.

He's volunteered to let other individuals use stun guns on him. He got zapped with stun guns ranging anywhere between 50,000 volts, to 800,000 volts, and he said the only thing he felt was more of a burning feeling after a while, but he didn't feel any shock, where as other people who used it dropped to the ground in agonzing pain. He put a 800,000 volt stun gun to his stomach for 30 seconds, and it ended up leaving a bruise, but he didn't feel the shock.

Why do some people enjoy pain?

For example: Sex + pain, Marathons, physical activities or workouts which are painful, Cold showers, Thrillers and scary movies (if you consider fear as a form of "pain").

What makes pain feel good? Isn't it ironic that this kind of "pain" is pleasurable for some? If people enjoy it, does it not become pleasure, simply for them?

Can pain and pleasure co-exist at the same time? I'm so confused !!!!

Why do some people believe that fish don't feel pain?

“Because those people are stupid” is the first answer that comes to mind.A somewhat more charitable answer would be that it allows such people to feel less guilty about the way we treat fish. Now, before I get branded as a tree hugging liberal, let me say that I entirely approve of fishing as a way to put food on the table. We are predators and the fish are prey and the pain a fish experiences when caught on a hook & line is no worse than what it goes through being caught by a bear, an osprey, or another fish. But, make no mistake - fish feel pain every bit as much as you or I.My personal feeling is that, while fishing for food is ethical, fishing methods that result in excessive by-catch or other collateral damage to the environment is not. Further, when it comes to ‘catch & release’ fishing, well, that’s just evil.

Why do some people like pain ?( tattoo?)?

All tattoos and piercings are hurt, painful and annoying... but if you decide to get one job done you have to deal with all those things... some people when they get inked focused on the pain that's why some of the even passed out while their getting tattoos.

Some artist try to talk to the client so they don't think about the pain, some client brings friend and makes some jokes to makes "the victim" feels lil bit relax...

my opinion is whenever you getting ink just focus on the design and the finish product talk about that and makes you feel excited because after that you will wearing a million dollar skin that nobody has it in this universe...

Do some people feel physical pain with more intensity than the average person?

Pain is an odd thing. Some people have a very high pain threshold. Some have a very low pain threshold. Some cultures/ethnic groups have a very high pain threshold (American Indians, Asians) some have low pain thresholds (Spanish, Italian, Greek). Peoples pain threshold can vary quite a bit depending on other things going on in their head. Most of us have heard of stories of brave wounded heros who have ignored pain to save lives. Well they are fundamentally true as your brain has a tremendous ability to block nerve transmission, modulate them or even ignore then. We are able to produce an internal opiate like morphine which we call endorphine. It is these endorphins that give marathon runners that "runners high". We have invented drugs called disassociative agents. The most notable one is ketamine. Ketamine doesn't block pain signals that go to the brain but what it does is send it to the wrong area of the brain so it is not associated with pain. A good example would be if I amputated someones finger while they were medicated with Ketamine. They could watch me do it. During which they are trying to figure out what is going on. The visual message going to the brain is not registering "finger" "amputation" and "blood" and when the pain signal arrives at the brain the brain is not sure what that signal means so it ignores it. There is a lot we know about pain but their is so very very much we, as scientists, don't know about pain. The study of chronic pain is quite in it's infancy. We don't understand how most people have an injury and the pain goes away yet some peoples pain never goes away and they develop a chronic pain syndrome. A lot of people have a hard time dealing with patients in chronic pain. As you can't see it you can't measure it. Many people feel like these patients just need to harden up and get back to work, as if having pain is a moral failure. Others say "its all in your head". Well of course it is but then again so is pleasure and every other emotional response the brain has.
