How to SHRINK clothes significantly?

3 easy steps that a lot of people seem to find is the best way to do it.

1. Wash the T-shirt in very hot water.
* Add a spoon of baking soda to the water to preserve any writing or illustrations. Don't add baking soda if there are no illustrations or lettering.

2. Iron the shirt with a hot iron while they are extremely damp.
* Push the iron from the outer edges of the garment toward the inside so that the garment is not stretched out and made bigger as you iron.

3. Dry the shirt in a tumble dryer set to maximum heat. This is when the majority of the shrinking will take place. Leave the shirt in the dryer for a few minutes after the dryer.
* If it is still too big put it in the dryer again at a very hot temperature.

*Because you bought a pack, wash all the ones that you want to be shrunk at the same time.

If you don't have a tumble dryer, go to a local laundrette or something- most of them have at least one.

Enjoy, and hope it all goes smoothly ;)

How do I know my EU clothes size?

For continental Europe they go by what I know as Italian sizing. I am also going to assume you want to know to convert American size to Europe size. Also they go by even numbered sizing. For women's it's pretty easy.size 36 = a size zero. Size 38= a size two. I'll let you guess what a size 40 is.For men it's a little harder but not too difficult. They divider it into tops and bottoms. Tops being anything you wear on top. Bottoms as anything you wear on bottom. Suits utilize the top measurement.Tops you add 10 to your chest size. If you are a 36 chest, then you are a 46 top.Bottoms you add 16 to your waist. You wear a 34 Jean then you should be a 50 bottom. If you don't know your measurements go and find out. Or just try stuff on. You'll know then

How do I shrink polyester clothing?

From WikiHow:“Polyester is a durable material that resists shrinkage. This is great if you plan to use your dryer, but less so when you get a shirt that’s too big. However, if you dedicate time and effort to it, you can actively shrink clothing made of polyester. If you don’t need the garment to shrink too much, you should only need to use your washing machine and dryer.Turn the garment inside-out. Heat high enough to shrink polyester is also high enough to cause colors to fade. Turning your garment inside out before washing will help protect it..Avoid washing multiple garments together. Turning the garment inside-out will reduce fading but won’t prevent the colors from bleeding.Wash the garment in extremely hot water. Set the washing machine to the hottest water setting and the longest wash cycle. Make sure to use both a hot wash and a hot rinse, since hot water is much more effective for shrinking polyester than cold water. You don’t need to add detergent to the washing machine, but it won’t interfere with the shrinking process. Only add detergent if you’re looking to wash the garment as you shrink it.Transfer the garment to the dryer immediately. Dry the polyester garment using the hottest heat setting and the longest drying cycle. The extreme heat is what will do the most work in shrinking the garment.Check the garment for shrinkage. Pull it out of the dryer and let it cool to room temperature. If additional shrinkage is necessary, repeat the washing and drying steps to further reduce the size.Note that the more often you wash and dry the garment, the more color fading you may notice.Only attempt this a few more times. If you still cannot achieve significant shrinkage, consider using an iron.”

How to shrink a t-shirt 1-2 sizes?

I have a bunch of really awesome concert t-shirts that are all size XL. Problem is, I lost a lot of weight recently, and they're all kind of big on me now. I now wear a size Medium or Large. They're all also 100% cotton and totally irreplaceable. I don't really like the idea of probably never being able to wear any of them again. I've tried shrinking them down in the wash, but it's had a pretty much negligible effect.

Anyone know of a good way to shrink t-shirts down a couple of sizes?

I need to shrink my jacket one or two sizes down!?

Well, if you're not going to wear it because it's so big, and, if you're not going to take it to a seamstress to have taken in, then wash it in the hottest water setting, and dry it on the hottest dryer setting. These people gave you possible outcomes. But, if you're going to let it sit in your closet till it's out of style....try to shrink it. And Sweetie, you shouldn't come on here and ask a question and then insult people just because you don't like their answers. Most are sincere and they're just trying to help you.
