Should I say happy birthday to someone on FB if they intentionally didn't do the same for me?
So last yr on my birthday I got happy birthday wishes from everyone except for this one girl. I knew she intentionally didn't say it bc she updated her status all day long that day. But said happy birthday to my other friend 3 days later for my friends birthday. I think this girl is competitive or just mean. So now it's her birthday. Should I ignore her birthday post on facebook? Her sisters birthday was exactly 3 days ago and I said happy birthday. Would I look like a b*tch? What to do?

It's my birthday today and I'm wondering what to say when someone says happy birthday! What I do when someone wishes me happy birthday on facebook, just saying thanks is boring. I get embarrassed when people know it's my birthday/wish me happy birthday, why is this?
How do you feel when people don't say happy birthday?
I remember when I first started using Facebook and I have so many "friends" I've never spoken for so long wishing me Happy Birthday. It felt good, I almost believed that some of these people I barely ever talk with suddenly made an effort to say happy birthday. It is convenient, but it can spark some conversation, a catching up if you will.However the following year, I started to change the settings and hide my birthday, true enough no body, except my family, wished me happy birthday. That's when it struck me, that it was all the FB's doing. I was somewhat sad, especially some of the friends whom I were rather close with, I always remember their birthday even though we don't hang around anymore, and have our own lives. But I still remember their birthday, and either PM them or text them if they are still in the same country. I don't always realise in time, but even if I'm late I'd still tell them. But they never did. But I get used to it by the following year, and now I know who actually remembered me. It doesn't have to be a conversation just a simple happy birthday will do. This way I know the happy birthdays I recieve are somewhat more sincere.
How would you wish someone a happy birthday when theyre on their death bed?
My uncle has pancreatic cancer and has probably spread to all over his body. He has been given 6-8 weeks to live. His birthday is today and I was wondering what I should say. Should I just call him up and talk to him and not mention his birthday or should I say happy birthday? I don't think telling him happy birthday would be appropriate really. What should I do? He's oin the hospital right now 30 minutes away and I won't be able to go see him because I have to work and no call in days because Im saving those for when he does pass. Please help!!!
Is saying "happy birthday" offensive to a Jehovah Witness?
One of my friends is a Jehovah Witness. From her, I learned that they don't celebrate birthdays or holidays. Firstly, do you know why that is? I don't really understand :S Also, her birthday is coming up and I was wondering should I acknowledge her birthday by saying "happy birthday" or just not even mention it. I really don't want to accidentally offend her with my ignorance of the religion.

Short Answer: Yes! It can be.Long answer: Birthdays are very special to people and some people might feel okay with strangers wishing them. However, it is not because of the wishes it has more to do with the 'Number'.I personally would prefer special few people wishing me rather than 549 "Friends" on Facebook who notice my name in upper right corner of their timeline. Because it feels like give and take. You write wishes on acquaintance's timeline and in turn they wish you. This is assuming that one actually knows all the people in their Friend list.So yes, wishing people you don't know can make them go "What's wrong with this dude?"

But it is not there now. And suddenly you see more money on the table where cake has been kept! Hola you’ve done it right!!PRO TIP : Never make eye contact! make yourself fall in love with cake!! Stare at the cake whole time and keep your palms on cheeks!!
What do you do when people are singing "Happy Birthday" to you?
It is weird, right.Crap! We celebrate every single person’s birthday in our office - we buy a cake, and stand around singing Happy Birthday while he/she stands there smiling awkwardly till we finish and then he/she cuts the cake.I have watched every single one of them grimace/ blush/ cringe while they stand there not knowing a graceful way to react to this…..crap.I mean, it is sweet, really - the effort someone puts to celebrate your birthday. Quite appreciative. But it is awkward AF!! And I have notice, some of my colleagues actually enjoy the displeasure they cause the poor Birthday boy/girl.So, I decided, when my turn comes, I will do things differently.And different it was - I sang along with the rest of them - Quite loudly and when it came to singing my name - I did that too…. with a huge smile on my face, and pointing to myself.Everyone laughed, and trust me, it was way better than standing there simply and not knowing what to do.Such events usually make me feel like I am naked in front of a crowd. So I sing loudly to overcome that feeling.Trust me, it helps..
What is interpreted when your friends don't wish you happy birthday or simply don't know your birthday? They don't care?
I try not to hold grudges and the following year I wish them a happy birthday. But….if after 3 or 4 years the same thing goes on and they never give me a call, I just stop acknowledging their birthday. If someone can’t do something as simple as making a phone call and saying the two words: “Happy Birthday”, then that means you are not even worth the time. If they can’t even spend two minutes on the phone, then that means you don’t mean anything to them. It’s simple.
Why can't people say "Happy Thanksgiving"?
I keep hearing people say "Have a happy holiday" instead of saying "Happy Thanksgiving" I understand saying in in December, but as far as I know there is only one holiday at the end of November. Most people avoid saying a particular holiday in December so they don't offend them. I get that, but who is getting offended be someone saying "Happy Thanksgiving"? There are a lot of people saying it. Someone on TV or radio must have instituted it for that many people to say it like that. I'm not blogging just trying to rationalize it.
