Put a whole, fully cooked, smoked ham in a roasting pan. Put a lid of foil on it, but not tight, sort of caddywhumpus, so it doesn't get too crusty on the outside but does take on a little texture. Put the ham in a 275°F oven. Do nothing else to it for as long as eight hours. Take it out of the oven and let it rest while you bake the biscuits (you have to have biscuits). Carve and serve

How do I bake a ham?

When you buy a ham it is already cooked but looks and tastes pretty boring, hence you score and glaze the ham. How you do this is:
Remove skin off the ham by running a thumb around the edge,under it. Begin pulling the skin off from the widest edge. When the rind has been removed cut through it around the shank. (its easy to do).
Score your ham by cutting cross ways and then diagonally to form a diamond pattern.
Poke whole cloves into each little diamond..
Once you have done this make a glaze.
Marmalade glaze.
Mix 4 tablespoons orange marmalade with 2 teaspoons whole grain mustard. stir really well and brush over the top of the scored ham.
Place into large baking dish and bake for 45-60 mins. Until the ham is golden. During cooking you can baste the ham with left over glaze.
Bake 160oc

Or
Pineapple and ginger glaze.

Mix 1/2 cup pineapple juice with 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup ginger ale 1 tsp of crushed ginger.
Brush over scored ham. Place pineapple rings onto top of scored ham with tooth picks and bake 45 mins on 160oc
During cooking at least twice baste with extra glaze.

These are two real easy glazes I prefer the marmalade one. Makes you ham look great and tastes spectacular.

Simple Baked ham recipe?

I hate to assume but is this just a smoked ham not a fresh ham? If it is the smoked/pre-cooked all you need do is cover it with foil to hold the moisture in and bake until hot through. You can uncover it for the last half hour to brown up the skin if you like. At 350 degrees it should take about 20 minutes a pound give or take a few minutes. Use a meat thermometer if you have one it just needs to get hot it is already cooked. You can sprinkle it with brown sugar or pour a coke on it if you like but I like mine without all the fancy stuff. You can make a red eye gravy to go with the ham it is so simple. take the heated ham out of the pan and pour the drippings into a sauce pan add 1 cup of hot coffee and thicken with corn starch, season with pepper to taste.

here is a nice glazed ham

you will need


1/4 cup pure maple syrup
2 tbsp. Dijon-style mustard
6-to 9-lb. fully cooked bone-in spiral ham
2 tsp. cornstarch
1 3/4 cups Swanson® Chicken Broth (regular, Natural Goodness™ or Certified Organic)
1/4 tsp. dried thyme leaves, crushed
1/8 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
1 tbsp. butter OR margarine
1/4 cup chopped shallot

Directions:

MIX 2 tbsp. syrup and 1 tbsp. mustard.

PLACE ham in roasting pan and cover loosely with foil. Bake at 325°F. for 1 hr. 30 min. Uncover and bake 30 min. more, brushing with syrup mixture or until meat thermometer reads 140°F.

MIX cornstarch, broth, thyme, black pepper, remaining syrup and remaining mustard until smooth. Set aside.

HEAT butter in small saucepan over medium heat. Add shallots and cook until tender. Stir cornstarch mixture and add. Cook until mixture boils and thickens, stirring constantly. Serve sauce with ham.
