How Do You Become A Fast Runner

How to become a faster runner?

I saw this thing on tv. the show was sports science, and i believe they were studying foot speed. Basically, fast runners do not put one foot in front of the other any faster than slower runners. they simply get more power, length stride length and explosion in each step. my conclusion was leg strength and technique would be what you can focus on improving on to run faster.

How can i become a fast runner?

Make your stride longer.
I had the same problem as you, like I was faster than the average person, but when I had sprints with people on the track team I would finish in last place.
You may think that by spreading your legs is slowing you down, but really it will help you later on.

How do I become a faster runner in two days?

You can’t re-train your body’s athletic ability in two days, but you can do a few things to optimize what ability you already have available.First, hydrate. Drink lots of fluids and consume electrolytes to help keep everything balanced. I don’t mean drink a little extra here and there, I mean concentrate on getting lots of fluid and electrolytes into your body during the full course of both days.Second, eat purposefully: Eat extra carbs. You want your muscles loaded up with glycogen. On that note, don’t eat much fat. No booze. Eat fruits and vegetables, especially high fiber on day one. You’ll be faster if you can get those intestines cleaned out and not carry extra waste in your body. On day two, eat only very light foods with complex carbs and a little protein. It’s OK if you get a little hungry. You want to be lean and mean, well hydrated, well-fueled, and otherwise empty by the time you compete.Third, stretch. Don’t do anything to make your muscles sore or tired, but warm up and do some stretching routines to get everything balanced and ready to perform. I like to do my stretching in a hot tub when I can. Do 30 minutes or more of careful stretching on day one and at least 15 minutes on day two. It should feel good. Get a massage on day one… nothing too deep, but enough to help relax and loosen everything up.Fourth, sleep. Get an awesome night’s sleep for two nights in a row and you’ll be feeling good. Finally, focus. If you’re racing a course, get to know the course. Visualize your race. Decide beforehand where you’re going to dig deep. Watch an inspiring running movie or YouTube clips, read “Once a Runner”, “Born To Run”, or find other material that makes you really want to run. Most of all, run happy. Joyful runners are hard to beat.

How do I become a faster runner in track?

I was a four year letter winner in track in high school. Most of my success came in running hurdles which is an obscure race that takes some level of skill, but I also had to have some level of speed. That being said, I was not the fastest person on the track team. I did make it a goal my senior season of track that I wanted to win the coaches award that was handed out at the end of the season. I knew to do that I would have to work hard, be a leader on the team, and be willing to run whatever race my team needed me to run. That season I was the first one in the weight room every time (mostly leg lifts, leg extensions, leg curls, and squats), ran every sprint at practice at maximum effort, ran any distance run without complaint, and did anything my coaches asked for me to do. In putting in all of the hard work, something strange happened..... I got faster. I ran my fastest half mile that year. I got added to the 4x200 meter relay which I had never run in the past. I was asked to run every distance for my team from 100 meters to two mile. I would of hands down won the coaches award that year, instead I was awarded best sprinter. So to get faster it is hard work on the track, hard work in the weight room, and throw in an occasional distance run to improve your endurance and lung capacity.

Am i a fast runner??

Working on flexibility only has been shown to decrease power, strength and speed. Several studies showed this in the 80's. You will still have old school coaches that believe in the warmup jog followed by static stretching. Active dynamic stretching is waaaay better. This combines movement and stretching to get the muscles ready.

As far as speed is concerned, how many times are you going to run 100m on the football field. This may sound flippent, but seriously if want to run the 100m in Track that is great, if you want to get faster in football you should be more concerned about shorter times. Even the ever popular 40 yd is quite long compared to what you do on the field. Think about the fastest players at the NFL combine are around 4.2 for the 40. World class sprinters can run it under 4 seconds.

Football is about linear speed/power (explosive straight ahead movement) and multidirection speed/power (any direction but forward and change of direction).

2 ways to get faster. One is to be more efficient in your movements and the other is to get more power. I always say efficiency first because if you get more powerful and you have bad form you can get hurt. Have someone with knowledge watch your form. This may not be a football coach. They typically know the X's and O's but have no idea of how the body works.

For power, you can work on explosive power. Think of cleans and snatches. These are great for your first step and for vertical jump.

Good luck!
