How Do You Become Zumba Instructor

How long does it take to become a Zumba instructor?

Short answer:To become a licensed Zumba Instructor: one day workshop (8 hours)Please note that Zumba instructors hold a license and not a certification: you don’t need to pass an exam at the end of the trainingTo become a great Zumba Fitness Instructor: months and months of preparation, hours of rehearsal, CPR training, additional fitness certifications such as ACE, AFAA etc depending on where you live.Long answer:Anybody can become a Zumba instructor. Believe or not when I took my instructor training half of the people at the facility have NEVER been to a Zumba class…..mmmmh really? To become an instructor all you have to do is to find an instructor training near you, pay the fee and show up for the workshop. At the end of the day you will receive your license to teach Zumba, use Zumba logos for your classes, the music etc.The real work start after that. If you want to actually start teaching you will have to prepare for many weeks/months, especially if you have not have taught any fitness classes before (many of my students loved Zumba so much they took the training so they could receive Zumba instructors material and participate in Zumba instructors-only events such as the Zumba Convention in Orlando). When it comes to teaching fitness it all starts from SAFETY. You have to remember that your students entrust you with their health and wellbeing.During that hour-long class, you are responsible for conducting a class that will not put them in danger. Unfortunately as the Zumba program grew in popularity a few people saw an opportunity to make a quick buck.Just search for Zumba choreos on Youtube and you will see what I am talking about. Some routines are just not that good, some other are plain dangerous. When you are looking to join a Zumba class please make sure to check whether your instructors has other fitness certifications from reputable institutions (for example ACE, AFAA etc). While this does not guarantee that you will enjoy the class, it will be at least a good sign that the Zumba Instructor took additional steps to ensure he/she can teach a Zumba class in a safe manner!

I want to be a zumba instructor?

yes you can become a zumba instructor without any previous experience or teachings of PE class or fitness classes. I became Zumba certified in November and there is absolutely no prerequisite for becoming an istructor at all. there was a girl at my certification class who had never even done zumba before!

i honestly will say that becoming an instructor for zumba is such a rip off for most people.
i'm pretty sure they won't let 15 year old become instructors though. i'm 19 and was 18 when i became certified and i was the youngest at the class.

to become an instructor, all you do is take a 10-hour class with a zumba education specialist and that's it. however, there's are MILLIONS on zumba instructors and since zumba doesn't have any kind of test to pass to become an instructor, ANYONE who pays for the class instantly becomes an instructor. so there is an extreme over-abundance of instructors. you pay $200-250 for a class, but yet you can't really teach and advertise with their logos unless you join the ZIN membership which is $30 a month. the whole thing is kind of a rip off and i'd never suggest anyone get their membership unless they've already gotten certified in tons of other classes, have a full time job as a fitness instructor, and have taken all their health and fitness instructor certification classes to make themselves more marketable to gyms.

How to become a zumba instructor/aerobics/dance?

The one thing Zumba® teacher training doesn't ask for is any dance ability - just your money (every year)
http://www.zumba.com/trainings/overview

You only have to do one day of training to call yourself a zumba instructor - which is a worryingly low threshold. (Quote from site "However, it helps if you've already taken a Zumba class before". Probably explains why the class I tried was so awful)

BTEC is a UK qualification but I don't know the standard. It's about A-level standard isn't it?

Ignoring ballet as you are nowhere near qualified to teach that and assuming you are in the UK....

I do come across dance teachers with very little in the way of qualifications - some good but others disastrous. I don't think many of them make a good living. However I have seen a not very highly qualified dancer with a lot of energy setting up and running a successful businesses based on teaching dance. She does cheap streetdance and jazz classes for kids using village halls etc. She loves kids though and works really hard.

Assuming you are UK.... zumba is only just becoming popular over here so I guess you could get in on that. I don't like it but I keep hearing more and more about it.

Without further or higher education in dance it will be harder for you, but I reckon it is possible.
Why not start in the evenings?

How did you become a zumba instructor without any dance background?

That’s a no brainier :)YOU DO NOT NEED to have a dance background… As stated on their website: Zumba is for everybody and every-body!Personal Experience?Back in my home country and when I was in high school I did not think I could dance… I went to ballet classes when I was a little girl and HATED it, I went then to modern dance and couldn’t even memorize the whole thing…And I just felt like I didn’t belong with that group of popular pretty girls that everybody adores! I was the typical girl with very few friends, a lot of bullies and always looked at weird for being different. Then I moved to another country and people started to tell me in parties that they really liked the way I danced and that I had really good rythm. They often asked me if I was a Zumba instructor (and by then I had no idea what even Zumba was!)Then I went to a local class and absolutely loved it!Why you do not need experience?Movements are easy, you take away the “work” from the workout, you really break a good sweat and each dance “choreography” has a logic so easy to understand, that eventually you can really go with the flow without even looking at the instructor!I loved it so much that I decided to become an instructor myself and that was the easy part.Hard part?Discipline: In order to build by yourself an hour long classAfter that? Its easy!

Zumba instructor seminar?

Ok so you work at curves, and now they are offering for what is called zumba in the circut. Do you want to teach that specific program or just zumba basic(which is not a class for curves). Well when you attend a zumba class it might be a 8 to 9 hour workshop. Where you will be shown all the basic zumba steps, what is zumba, and basically everything about zumba and how to teach it. (zumba basics).. they wont teach you zumba in the circut. you wont be allowed to teach it unless you become a zin member. A zin member is a membership you pay each month. Being a zin member, you get free cds, dvd, and so much more, plus you are allowed to apply to other zumba workshops like, zumbatomic, aqua zumba, and zumba toning. Zumba in the circut is not actually a workshop but you do need to be a zin member, read the zumba in the circut manual, watch the instructional dvds, and take a test. Teaching zumba is fun so i hope you decide to take the workshop and become a zin member. but hurry up classes fill up fast.
