How Do You Cure A Foot Blister

Foot Blister Treatment?

You need to take proper care of the blisters. You have to decide if you want to let them heal without breaking them or if you want to break them. They may be less painful if you break them, but remember the blisters are protecting the tissue underneath.

Foot blister treatment
If the blister has not burst then it may be necessary to make a small hole at the very edge of the blister with a serialized pin or needle, particularly if the blister is on a weight bearing surface. A pin can be sterilized by passing it through a flame.
Do not drain a blood filled blister.
Drain the fluid but leave as much of the skin as possible covering the wound. This is an important protective layer for the underlying skin and will help to prevent infection.
Clean the blister with a sterilizing wipe. Cover the wound with a second skin or blister plaster - take the time to apply it correctly.
For additional security apply tape over top.
Check at the pharmacy for one of the products specially designed to protect foot blisters. There are gel pads and also a product called moleskin.
Watch the blisters for signs of infection - puss, red streaks emanating from them, or if you get a fever. See a doctor if these symptoms develop.

What is the best way to treat a blister on the bottom of my foot?

Don't pop or drain it, this will expose you to infection.

Purchase some mole skin. Make a square large enough to cover your blister and a little more. Now, cut a hole in the center (so it looks like a donut), and make sure the hole is large enough for your blister to fit through. This will protect the sides of the blister so it does not get larger, and will add some support so the blister won't pop under the pressure of your weight.

If you drain the blister tonight and walk around on it tomorrow, that loose skin cause by the blister formation will be moving all around and will either create another blister or will rub off entirely (exposing you even more to infection).

Can I use Carmex on an open foot blister?

The triple antibiotic cream will be way better than the Carmex. The menthol in Carmex will probably be painful and not help the healing process any.

You need to keep that blister covered with moleskin or at least a bandage so you don't keep putting friction on it and it can heal. It is also important to keep it clean.
