Is heavy metal/hard rock dying?

All the answers saying “NO” pretty much prove why Heavy Metal is really dead, at least in the U.S. In Britain, Europe, South America and the Scandinavian countries, Metal is still a popular genre. But it’s deader than dead in America.Just because older bands are still around does not mean the genre is still alive. Where are all the new metal bands that were supposed to carry that torch with a new generation? There are none. We’re still bringing up Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest into the conversation cause there is pretty much nothing without those longtime established bands.Metal doesn’t resonate with a younger audience anymore, probably because in the 90’s and 2000’s, Metal bands got a lot of really bad ideas that didn’t translate well musically. Bad ideas such as cookie monster screaming vocals, odd timing tempos, detuned guitars that sound awful, and just screaming rage songs. See Nu-Metal and Post Grunge if you want to see how bad it got during the late 90’s and 2000’s.What made Metal a genre to be reckoned with in the 80’s was that it spoke directly to an audience that rejected the glam rock and synth pop that dominated the airwaves. It had something of a following with teenagers rebelling and spoke directly to them as a giant middle finger at society.That don’t exist anymore, cause Metal don’t really speak for anyone anymore. Like I mentioned, a lot of really bad ideas from the 90’s, mostly influenced by Grunge, led to the genre embracing heavier sounds which didn’t age well.Metal is going to remain dead in the American music scenes until the day that Metal bands pull their heads out of their asses and start writing catchy head-banging riffs again, and write lyrics that people can actually relate to. No more detuned guitars, no more cookie monster screaming vocals and no more odd timing nonsense.

As you can see I’m in Hard Rock, Heavy Metal and Thrash Metal.My two favourite have always been the first Maiden vocalist, Di Anno, and Blackie Lawless from WASP…Difficult to say “why”…I just love the particular tone of their voices…I love how Di Anno meddled the raw energy of punk rock and the high pitched performances of Metal….The tone of voice of Blackie is so vindicative, threatening. It’s like if venom and darkness was in his voice, he’s amazing.Ronnie James Dio had such a powerful, beautiful voice that enabled him to sing killer heavy metal tracks like Die Young or Holy Diver, beauitful power ballads like All the Fools Sailed Away…but the same guy could also sing a joyful and sweet pop rock song like Love is All…Ronnie J you were amazing, Rest in Peace buddy…As you can see a Thrash metal vocalist is to be found among all those hard’n’heavy performers: Mille Petrozza. Why ? Because I also love when it becomes speeder and more agressive, and when it comes to this none is better than the German thrash metal act Kreator !!!! Listen to albums like Extreme Agression and you’ll understand why ! After hearing this you’ll feel like you wanna kill all the planet, and like you’re able to do it ! :D
