How Do You Feel About Three Middle Names Or More

Middle names for these boy names???

Julian Alec, Julian Luke, Julian Rayne
Carter Maize, Carter Taylor, Carter Jude
Cade Lake, Cade Alexander, Cade Lucas

I think Cael Addison is a great name for a girl! It's feminine, yet also sounds powerful (not too girly). Addison is becoming more popular for a girl's first name, so I'm glad you have it as a middle name, and Cael as a first name is definitely unique!

What is your middle name and how did you get it?

I have two middle names: David Douglas. My mother says that there was no special reasoning behind the particular names she chose for me other than that she liked them. The alliteration of Derek David Douglas was accidental and neither of my brothers’ names were alliterative. My mother had two middle names (she was born Marjorie Georgina Phyllis McDonald), and she likewise gave her three sons two middle names. My younger brother has continued this tradition and his son and daughter have two middle names, but my older brother’s two daughters only got one middle name each. If I ever have children, I hope to also give them two middle names, but that would be subject to their mother’s agreement. My older brother Kim got George as one of his middle names after my mother’s father, George McDonald, making him Kimberly Edward George McNeil. My mother wanted to call my younger brother Gregory, but she had known two Gregorys that had died young, so she thought that might be unlucky, so she used it for a middle name. She had also told my father that he could pick his first name, and he decided on Arthur after himself. She didn’t like the idea of Jr. names, so she convinced him that it would make a better middle name, and my father’s maternal grandmother’s maiden name Curtis was chosen as his first, making him Curtis Gregory Arthur McNeil.

Which of these three middle names flow better with my girls name?

I know I want to do Caliana as the first name that means "Princess" and "Calie" for her nickname which means "Beautiful". I am now trying to decide from the middle names below....

The explanation goes that Janaye is a combination of my mom's and husband's moms middle names which are Jane and Faye plus it means "God has answered" and I had a miscarriage before this pregnancy.

Juliet or Juliette is because my name is Julie and my grandmother all of a sudden suggested that name to me saying it would be a great name to name after me without picking my name and said how much she loved it so it would really be for her and make her feel special too

Thoughts?

Do Germans have middle names?

It is the norm (but not universal) in Germany to have multiple given names. Two given names are typical, but some only have one, and some, especially from formerly aristocratic families, have many more. One of the given names is the Rufname, the name a person is normally known by. Typically, the first given name fullfills that role – in that case, the second given name (or: the remaining given names) is equivalent to a middle name in the anglo-american tradition. It is not uncommon for someone to be commonly known by their second given name (i.e. by what appears to be the middle name). Occasionally multiple brothers share their first given name with their father and are differentiated by second names; this was more common in the past – Johann Sebastian Bach was probably known as "Sebastian" by his family. Sometimes (rarely), people decide later in life to change which of their names they call themselves by.tl;dr Most Germans have multiple given names. Usually they're known by the first of two, the second being equivalent to a middle name, but this arrangement is far from universal.

Did you give your child more than three names (first/middle/last), if so how many? Secondly if your child is grown how do they feel about their names?

My children are…18yr old Mackenzie Evelynn(after her grandmother Lynn & great grandmother Evelyn)-she LOVES her name.16yr old Quinlan Xavier-he loves his name.7yr old Delaney Shayera Talicia(after her grandmother Tabertha & her great aunt Alice)-she loves her name, but goes by Nina(nickname given by her younger sisters when they couldn't say Laney & stuck)6yr old Teagan Yvonne Sharon(named after her aunt Sharon Yvonne)-she goes by cookie(nickname she gave herself after I called her a smart cookie when she was 2 ;-))&5yr old Kennedy Christine-goes by bitsy(nickname given by me, I called her little bit for a few days after loosing her identical twin brothers to placental abruption, not knowing of her existence & not having a girl name…&it just stuck &now she wont have it any other way, she is just bitsy :-))

Emmy Jo's Middle Name Survey -- What middle names do you like?

1.

b. I want to honor family members, but I can't stand it when there are seven Michaels or Marys in a family. My husband is Kevin Kenneth, his father (and grandfather) are Kenneth Ernest, his uncle is Kenneth Ray, his brother in law is Kenneth Charles, and our son will be James Kenneth. I wanted to honor this plethora of Kenneths, but I was not going to bring yet another Kenneth into the world. Since we're going to use it as middle name, it neatly sidesteps adding a fifth Kenneth-as-a-first-name into the family, but still honors all of them.

f. I can't convince my husband into it, but I love a lot of goofy, unusual names. If I wasn't so set on family names for middle names, I love using my more out-there names for the middle, like Genevieve Valentine, or Naomi Jemima.

d. It's not my style, but I much prefer seeing this used for other people's kids. (ex. I would prefer to see a Madison Amelia over Madison Cayden.)

2. One middle name. I moved my maiden name to a second middle name when I got married. I wouldn't have been able to do that reasonably if I had already had two middle names. I also think that going without a middle name would be a very bad idea. Most forms require at least a middle initial. My Iranian friend from high school, Nusha, always had her name as Nusha NA Lastname on forms because her mother wrote N/A on the first form that had asked for her middle name.

3. Charlotte, Margaret, Valentine. They are unusual, but still tend to sound good with whatever name they're paired with, and they aren't the ubiquitous Rose, Anne, Grace, Marie, and Renee.

4. James, Michael, and Thomas. They're pretty common names, and I think they sound good with basically anything. Michael is a name I like, but is way too common for me to be comfortable having in the first name spot. James is one of those awesome names for me because it's familiar, bordering on common for adults, that isn't used that much right now as a first name, and it makes any trendy name sound more classy when used as a middle name.

5. Grace, Rose, Anne, Marie, and Renee. I don't have any middle names on guys that bother me, but I'm so tired of these ones on girls!

6. Elizabeth, and I'm 21.

Would it be weird to give a child 3 middle names?

Maybe you could go for two middle names as a compromise. Know of plenty of people with two middle names, but three I have only heard at the Christenings of princesses and princes, but that is just my opinion. Three might be a bit of a nuisance filling in forms too. But your decision obviously and you could tell them when they are older how/why they came to have so many middle names (something a bit different that is not something people would know about in everyday life). Good luck.
