How Do You Figure Out Which Career Is Right For You

How do I find the right career?

The forewordIt is an usual trend that whichever stream fares well in recent time, parents get keen to put their kids towards it..For example, In 1940s and 50s.. the most sought after profession was that of barristers and doctors. Then came the age of physicists and chemists. 70s onward, it were engineers.. civil, mechanical, 90s saw growth in computer engineers, electronics, bioinformatics.. statistics.. Later the bio-technologists.. genetic engineersTechnology changes every 7-10 years. Till a few years ago, Cloud, Analytics / Cognitive computing were not very popular terms. Now they are the hottest skills. The factsWhatever is in demand now has good prospect in present day. However, by the time a student completes 4 yrs of bachelor's and 2 yrs of masters, the trend gradually shifts. The demand of a career that is there today is not going to stay for long. People who get early entry are always gainers.. the follower groups generally lag behind. The profession saturates leaving less openings for newer people.Typically the world follow the trends of developed countries. For example, what happens in US today, gradually flows down to South Asian in about 5-6 yrs time.Hence.. it requires a bit of intellect among students and parents to think of what could be the next boom and prepare their child towards it and not just blindly following others or choosing whats in present demand.[Image source: Home]For an example, when i passed out of my masters in biotech.. there were only 14 colleges in India catering the subject.. roughly about 240 students coming out in a year..and there was ample scope. Now in 2018, the same course brings out about 4 lakh students a year.. the jobs in the sector have certainly increased but not that proportionately, hence freshers struggle to get a decent role. What needs to be done?Try to do a swot analysis of your chosen career path and then take a wise and informed decision.Do not go with the crowd without having interest or aptitude for the course.Read as much as you can about the course and then try speaking to people in the same course who are freshers in jobs and understand the reality rather than understanding it from the students / educationists perspective.

Find out what career is right for me quiz?

I am about to go into high school next year and we need to make out a map of our plan. I have no idea what I want to do after high school. I know that I want to go to college, that is for sure. I have talked to my parents and some careers sound interesting but then again I think they are not right for me. I need a website for teens like me to take a little survey (for free) that will tell me what career is right for me. Thank you very much.

How do you find out what's the right career for you?

Choosing a career is similar to choosing your mate for marriage.  You want to marry the most good looking, intelligent and loving boy/girl in the world. The only problem is that your crush may not be willing to marry you because he/she may also be looking for the best for him/her. The desire of career is quite predictable as most people follow the herd.   They want to get power, wealth, fame and recognition in the society through their job.   The first category of the people are those who don’t get the job they wanted as they are not selected for the job. Then they go for a lower choice of job till they get something in hand to sustain their life. However, they remain unhappy throughout their life as they could not get the job of their choice. The second category of people are those who actually get what they wanted, but realize after sometime that the job is not suitable for them. They are therefore unhappy as they believe that they have landed up in a wrong profession. A leader was taking a tour of a mental hospital. In the first room, he found a man crying profusely and doing many strange actions. The leader asked the jailer, “What for this fellow got mad?”Jailer replied, “Sir, he could not marry the woman he loved. He is in this state since her beloved married another person.”Then they moved couple of wards further and found another man who was behaving even more strongly. The leader asked again, “Why is this man so miserable?”“Because he married that woman”, replied the jailer. There is actually no right career for anyone just like there is no right mate for anyone.  You can choose any job in the world and you can be extremely unhappy unless you are willing to adjust and mould yourself to the needs of the job and learn your profession. Any happily married couple would tell you that they are happy not because they are made for each other by some divine forces but because they respect each other and transform themselves to become compatible for each other.

How do i figure out what is the best career for me. I'm 17 yrs old and need to figure out what college to go2

Like the first guy says, try to find out what you like doing, volunteer at a hospital, school, local business. I don't want to come over condesending but at 17 you are unlikely to know whether or not you have a good head for business, try it out yes, but having never run a business or even a household as a business you have probably very little experience with the scary worl of money or people management. I am not saying this to make you feel stupid but to let you know how inportant it is to have a goiod understanding of what you want from college. The last thing you want is to have to go back in ten years and regraduate in a completely different field like I did. It costs lots and lots. I am now a graduate twice and its good to know about different things but if i had to do it again I would have gained experience in my chosen field and only studied that.

I can't figure out what career I want?

Most people your age don't know what they want to do and even people in there 20s and 30s who still don't. I don't it's stupid those surveys are a start. Well if you like your pet bird and garding, maybe you could be a vet, work in a pet store, bird sanctuary, landscape gardener, Park ranger, green keeper, working in a garden center, plant breeder, florist etc That's just 2. If i was you, i would try to go to college/uni while your young and give you some time to research jobs and see if there is any other intrests you have. Good luck

How do you know if you've chosen the right career?

Thanks for A2AIt depends on the following factors:1) Desire: For some it's money, For some it's legacy and for some it's fame . because on what you truly desire as being "Successful" will only land you in a rat race. Also you will get famous at some point in your life if you are REALLY GOOD at something so it should be easy if you find the links and reach to the ultimate source.2) Capability: Sometimes we want to be good in something but we aren't then it does more harm than good. For example, you may want to become an actor and you're quite serious about it but you write very beautiful stories then don't give up story writing to become an actor because it will be an injustice to your talent. There are however exceptions. If i put forward my example, while i was pursuing my engineering, i was also working as a personality development trainer and i did this for close to 2.5 years and also my college was far away and hence i had to spend 8 hours in college,6 hours in commuting and then 3-3.5 hours as a trainer and though it honed a lot of my skills but my studies suffered and hence i decided to stop working. It was a tough decision but i had to choose between the two and so i went with engineering but now if i have to work somewhere in another profile and learn technical stuff ob my own then i won't hesitate 3)Interests(MOST IMPORTANT) : If you are among those special ones who know WHAT attracts them , WHY it attracts them and are ready for the sacrifice then just GO FOR IT! and don't worry about the implications because if you are good at something there is no way in hell you or your family(if decide to involve them too) will sleep hungry because in India for example, If you are national level Table Tennis player void of international experience, You can open your own academy or give coaching at an academy and still earn enough to live a peaceful lifeThe thing is go for something that keeps your inner FIRE BURNINGHope this would be helpful :-)

How do you figure out your college major and your career?

OK, I have a lot to say about this, so please give this a read.

I have three college degrees. One is an associate's (I went to a community college), one is a bachelor's, and one is a master's. I didn't decide on my major until my junior year of college, and even then, I wasn't sure if I made the right decision.

DO NOT let anyone tell you that you have to decide right away. You don't. Declare yourself a liberal arts major and take as many different classes as you can. Take what sounds interesting. Take internships. Take as much as you can! The only way to find out what you want to do is explore and experiment.

And you don't have to know what you want to do for a living right out of high school OR college. I'm 28, and I've just decided what my "calling" is. It took me a long time, but I finally made it.

But I also want to go back to school for more education in areas where I didn't get to take classes. So, please, explore and don't let anyone pressure you into choosing a major.

By the way, I majored in English, and the only reason I did it is because I love to write. I didn't make the decision for careers because I'm certainly not making a lot of money off of my writing. :)

Good luck, and my best to you with whatever decisions you make!
