How to get an acting Agent?
I'm almost 17 years old and want to start looking into acting. I live only an hour away from HollyWood so maybe I can look for an agent there? Will an agent help someone new like me get an audition? Or how does it all work? And do I need to take some acting classes? Should I wait until I am 18 or is 17 old enough? I am also in pretty good shape, so could looking into fitness modeling help at all? I need any info I can get! Thanks!

so ive been looking on line, i would really love to start my career and start auditioning. being in college in LA i am ready to get my life rolling. so my question for all of you is how do i actually go about obtaining an agent? do i call and make an appointment? send a headshot? or do i actually have to wait to be discovered. i understand that almost everyone in LA wants to be an actress or actor, they all say they are doing this because they love it when i believe half of them just want to get famous. This is what i love to do, i am studying it in school and one hundred percent sure this is what i want to do with my life. i have no interest in being famous cause honestly , who wants paparazzi in your face all the time? i sure don't but i would love to start working and finding an agent so please. any information you have i would really really appreciate it. thanks so much for your time!

THIS IS WHAT YOU DO IF YOU WANT TO BECOME AN ACTOR FOR TV/FILM/COMMERCIAL: First and foremost, grab a camera and have someone take some quality snapshots of you. DO NOT INVEST IN PROFESSIONAL PICTURES UNTIL YOU HAVE AN AGENT! This is because you may spend three hundred bucks, and then sign with an agent a month later who doesn't like them. WAIT UNTIL YOU HAVE AN AGENT. For now, your snapshots will do just fine. Secondly, compose a resume. It should list your name, birthdate, height, weight, eye & hair colors, theater, comercials, film, TV, print, TRAINING, education, awards, and special skills. Although agents will sometimes call someone with no experience, it is better to take a class or be in a play first. Third, refer to the phonebook and search for "talent agencies". If no results show up, look online for "Bowling Green, Kentucky Talent Agencies". Choose about 4 or 5 talent agencies to submit to. How do you submit? Keep on reading! Fourth, compose a "coverletter" to include in your submission. Your coverletter should include the highlights of your performing experience, stuff you like to do, and why you want to act. FINALLY, compose your submission. Purchase large envelopes and adress them to each agency. In each envelope, include a printed COLOR snapshot on 8x10 glossy paper, a resume, and a coverletter in front. How do I get an agent and how do I get on Broadway?
To find an agent, I would suggest looking in your area for talent agents, most of the larger cities have them. Many can probably be found through the telephone book or searches on-line. I would also suggest making sure that they are respectable and not just going to take your money. As for getting to Broadway, the only way to do that is to go to New York and actually audition. In the mean time, I would suggest continuing to pursue plays and musicals in your area and, if you are not already doing so, maybe taking some lessons. Also, if you have not already done so, I would suggest looking into the technical aspects of the theater: staging, costumes, lighting, sound; this will give you a better understanding of the theater overall. Also, remember that shows on Broadway usually have over eight shows a week with matinee and evening performances. For this reason, if you have not yet had the opportunity, I would suggest trying to get into a show that has a longer run, at least a month, and has at least one or two days of double performances. This will give you a better indication of what it probably is like to work on a Broadway show.
