What are canker sores?

Canker sores, also known as mouth ulcers or aphthous ulcers are painful lesions inside the mouth. They appear as shallow ulcers that appear on the gums, and these can make talking or eating uncomfortable. Though these lesions are small and may cause discomfort, they go away on their own and are not life-threatening.There are two types of canker sores or mouth ulcers – simple (minor), complex (major) and herpetiform. I have a canker sore. I know it's not herpes cuz I haven't kissed anyone in a couple of years (sad, but true.) how do I get rid of it? I've heard baking soda and warm water as a mouthwash works, also putting salt on it is good too. any suggestions? I don't want to buy medicine if i can avoid it. (i'm cheap)

Ok so I have a really bad canker sore on the inside of my lip, and it hurts like a biotch! I know why I get them ( because I continuosly bite my mouth, but Im trying not to do it anymore) this is one of the worst I've had and the big problem is that I'm getting braces in two days so that's gonna hurt even more! I've tried using warm salt water as well as listerene, but they don't make much of a difference . So what is ANYTHING I can use to get rid of it really fast?!?!?
