How Do You Get Kids To Drink More Liquids

If a kid is choking on liquids....?

If a kid is choking on liquids:

It is not appropriate to do the Heimlich maneuver (Heimlich is used to get a foreign body out of the airways that is blocking the airway entirely.... liquid, by definition, can't)

If a child becomes unconscious, it would be appropriate to start performing a CPR assessment (maybe there was another coexisting factor, like an undiagnosed cardiac defect, that may not be related to the inhalation of the liquid)...
Check for (A) Airway, (B) Breathing, and (C) Circulation or signs of life.

Never perform CPR on a conscious person.

A person who is coughing and sputtering, while it sounds mighty unpleasant, is the best thing for a partial-obstruction choking incident. Its the most effective, smacking them on the back doesn't improve things and isn't reccomended if they're just coughing. If they are coughing and sputtering, it is wise to keep watch on them to make sure the scene doesn't change (like a partial obstruction become a full obstruction and they go unconscious).

Good Luck.

How long does it take for liquids to turn into urine?

It depends on a lot of factors.First, is your stomach empty? If you drink the water on an empty stomach, it'll travel down to the intestines and get absorbed to the blood stream pretty quickly. Otherwise, it'll take longer as your stomach has to digest whatever you ate before it can start emptying your food and water mix to the intestines.Second, are you dehydrated? If so, once your blood reaches the kidneys, the kidneys will actively reabsorb water from the urine back to the blood stream, so you won't expel that water as quickly.Regardless of those factors, it takes about half an hour for all your blood to go through the first filtration stage of urine production. And after that, your blood has to go through further filtration to produce relatively dilute urine, only reconcentrated in dehydration conditions by letting water be reabsorbed(though that would be a normal diffusion). But this will take further time than the half hour.So your glass of water has to find its way to your intestines and get absorbed into the blood, and then your blood will be filtered by your kidneys to produce urine. It's not a simple process, so I don't expect it to be all that short of a process. As a result, I notice that on an empty stomach, I'll take at least a hour after drinking water to end a dehydration headache, as a benchmark figure.Source - biomedical engineering major who took a semester of freshman physiology designed for premed students.

Is liquid chlorophyll ok for babies?

children age four and up.... not babies.... and I'd ask the pediatrician about the toddler's diet before I'd give it to a four year old, too!!..... these ideas are great for adults who can choose whether to add this to their diets or not.... but when a person is too young to choose, I don't believe it's right... just like being vegetarian.... great, if that's what an adult or older , knowing child wants, but not for the younger set......

Help! My toddler won't eat or drink!?

Your daughter said her tummy hurts... Is she going to the bathroom ok? I'm surprised the dr said it's nothing if she's complaining of pain... Check her mouth and gums for sores, that might make it painful for her to eat/drink.

I'm sorry, that sounds really odd... a toddler saying she's hungry but refuses to eat, and complains of tummy aches. I'd take her to another doctor if I were you, just to be safe.

If it really is nothing, you can try taking her on a special trip to the supermarket and have her pick out something new to try.

How long after a drink will my toddler need to pee?

i would take her to the potty about half an hour after a drink, and again 15 mins later.

also note, if she has a nice big cup of juice or water, she makesanice big wee.

if she sips all day, it will be harder to notice a pattern.

all kids are different, it depends what she has eaten or drunk. start with half an hour, but if she hops around before hand... or never goes on the first trip. adjust in 10 minute slots.

also, as she gets used to the idea of potty, she will naturally wait longer, as her muscles get stronger and more controlled.
