Why does my left shoe lace always come undone?

You put on your shoes, tie them as firmly as possible, but soon after the laces come undone. Now scientists have unraveled this mystery by experiments that reveal how shoe strings come undone when we're on the move. They found the force of a foot striking the ground stretches and then relaxes the knot, while a second force caused by the leg swinging acts on the ends of the laces, like an invisible hand. Why your shoelaces come undone, according to scienceUnravelled: Why shoelaces come undoneUsing a slow motion camera and a series of experiments, mechanical engineers at University of California, Berkeley filmed a knot on the shoe of a researcher running on a treadmill. They found “shoelace knot failure” happens in a matter of seconds triggered by a complex interaction of forces. When running, your foot strikes the ground at seven times the force of gravity. Responding to that force, the knot stretches and then relaxes. As the knot loosens, the swinging leg applies an inertial force on the free ends of the laces, leading to rapid unravelling in as little as two strides. Why Do Your Shoelaces Come Untied?Scientists conducted tests with a variety of different laces. But while some laces might be better than others for tying knots, they all suffered from the same fundamental cause of knot failure.

How do I keep the tongue of my Converse shoe from sliding to the side?

Everybody hates it when the tongue on their converse shoes are crooked. They literally slide into the side of the shoes so you can barely see it. It’s always happens with almost every people. I have two ideas to get rid of this problem.1. Tie your shoestighter 2. Tie your lace on the insideDo the tongues of your sneakers slip to one side as you run? There's usually a loop on the tongue for your laces to prevent that, but it often doesn't work. The solution is to loop the laces backwards. As YouTube user Jared Ning shows, you would normally put your laces through one side and out the other, and then put it through the eyelet on the other side. Ning suggests using the eyelet on the side you started, thus creating a backward loop. Do this on both sides of the lace and knot it up. The Ian Knot is the fastest way to do that. Your shoe tongue will stay firmly in place.

What Kind of Shoes Are Cool For Guys?

Timberland's are the best for boots and it depends on what kind of sneakers you want or need, like if you like basketball, skateboarding, track&field. Nike, Adidas, and Jordan's are the best for basketball; DC, Seaux, and Vans are the best for Skating and Nike and New Balances and always good for running or T&F. The color is up to you to decide.

Sports Equipment: Why are some cleats made with unusually long tongues that hang over the laces?

Those are football (soccer) boots. Those tongue flaps provide a smooth surface for balancing the ball on top of the foot when needed.

Tongue piercing problem changing piercing?

I just got my piercing 6 days ago, I love it, sits in a great place. even though I have noticed my swelling going Down.. it's not completely down and I do have this "anthill" to where it's making the top ball impression/crator, I heard is normal. When my tongue is relaxed it does swollow my top ball not completely but half way, when I push my barbell on my tooth it'll show space and show some of the bar. I don't really know how long the swelling takes though everyone else I see does not have this problem or if they do, there swelling is down by now.. anyways though I have a short tongue and the original placement of my tongue piercing was ganna be half a inch forward but mines like perfectly in the middle, which is what I wanted. I don't know if my tongue will get longer when the swelling goes down more ( that's what I'm hoping) in the future for me it's a little harder to change the piercing since it doesn't go passed my lip. lol I can't just grab it like you see in the videos. I literally have to like pull my lip down that's the only way I can grab it... (this is my first piercing if you can't tell) I literally am thinking like maybe I'll have to just tape my bottom lip out of the way just so I could do it in the future... it scares me since I can't find anyone else with this problem.. who would have to do what I will. I do and don't mind, I do because it's extra but I don't because well I did want it to be in the middle. Anyone else have to? Or anyone?

Why does my right shoe keep coming untied, but not my left?

Thanks for asking this question. I am also a victim of shoelaces untying themselves when I walk or run and quite often only on my right foot.I have come to believe that this is because I am a right leg dominant person and put a little more pressure on my right foot when I walk. So when the I lift the foot from the ground the foot arches in such a way that the tongue part of the shoe expands and it starts to loosen the laces and the repeated action tends to untie the lace completely.I have resorted to doing a double knot or a granny knot on the laces these days and they seem to hold on for longer. Also, I have seen than flat laces untie very easier compared to rounded laces.Maybe give them a try and hopefully your laces stay tied up for longer.

The tongue on my left Doc Marten boot keeps sliding to the left?

I bought these $120 boots off of the Dr Marten's website and finally got them a few months ago. Immediately I noticed the tongue wasn't center (only on the left boot) but I figured once I broke them in it'd fix itself. But even after a month and a half of wear, the tongue still slides to the left no matter how many times I straighten it out. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do to try and make it straight?
