How do i apply for a working visa for America ?

Working visa for the U.S.A?

Hello, i am a 25 year old qualified electrician from ireland. I live with my girlfriend here and we both have always wanted to live and work in america after visiting many times there. This may seem like we are jumping on the bandwagon and going there because of the economical down turn, however it is actually not like that and pretty much just bad timing for us as i have only recently qualified as an electrician and felt there was no point going there until i was qualified. I guess i am asking , is it impossable right now to get a working visa for us both there? How would one even go about getting it ? I am not even very bothered if i dont get an electrical job there straight away and would be more than happy to work at any general job just to live there for a while. Have any of you recently emmigrated there or can assist me with some helpful information in any way at all. I would truely appreciate it. Thank you in advance :)

Info on American Work Visa's?

Hi there,

Getting a work visa or work authorization in the US can sometimes be very difficult, unless you qualify for immigrant based visas. The two most common work visas are H-1b and H-2.

H-1b is the only one that you could eventually apply for a Green card from. This is a highly skilled worker visa, meaning to qualify, you need to have a standing job offer, and that company has to apply for you (costs them from $3,000 to $10,000 depending on their size). To qualify for the visa, you have to hold at least a Bachelor degree (or have a very solid resume) in a field relevant to the position. This visa is good for up to 5 years and can be renewed. You could be eligible to apply for a Green card in this category, but the company sponsoring you would have to prove that they could not get any US citizen or Green card holder to fill the position.

H-2 is a temporary seasonal work visa, good for up to one year. To qualify, you must be sponsored by a company and have a standing job offer from that company. The job has to be seasonal, and located in an area of the country that has a shortage of available US workers qualified for the specific job.

For many, the process of obtaining a U.S. work visa can be very difficult. Usually, the "easiest" way is if you graduate from an American university with a Bachelor degree or more. You are then eligible for OPT (Optional Practical Training) for up to 1 year, and can take up any employment that is related to your field of study without having to have a company sponsor you. From there, it is easier to get a "foot in the door" with a company that could be willing to sponsor once your OPT expires. OPT applications cost $340, but getting a degree in the US can easily cost anywhere from the tens of thousands and into the hundreds of thousands. However, on a student visa you are also eligible to take up part time employment at your school for the entire time youʻre a student.

Best of luck!

Is it hard to get a working visa to USA?

No! Only qualified employers can apply for temporary employment visas for their qualified employees. You cannot apply. After you earn a masters degree in some high-tech field and develop some serious expertise in something rather esoteric, perhaps you find a job with a company willing & able to spend the vast time, money & hassle of getting you a visa. Employers really are not hiring less than masters degrees on visas anymore.

Over 31 million Americans are currently looking for work. Real unemployment rate is 23% (53% for age 16-24 - recent grads, new entrants to workforce, inexperienced, unskilled, etc). Another 27% of US workforce is self-employed, independent contractor, freelance, etc. So that's half the workforce without any "j-o-b!" This is early days of the Post-Job Era. Only fulltime jobs in traditional employer-employee relationships can be considered "jobs" in the employment visa sense, and those are rapidly vanishing. A great many of those with "jobs" can only get parttime - employers don't want to pay benefits if they cannot get around employment laws.

There's J-1 cultural exchange, but beware! Lots of scams here, and your friend's dad probably has no familiarity with the legalities, costs, etc.

How to get US work visa?

There's a visa called the H-1B. Google the list of occupations are try to get a master's for something that is related to those occupations. I would recommend computer science/software engineering as a large portion of H-1B visas are used to sponsor people in that field. You can become an accountant or doctor as well, but there are probably more jobs in IT. You also need something that a citizen doesn't have or they'll take the job. Say you have a master's with 5 years of experience. The job qualifications are a bachelor's and 3 years of experience. The company decides to hire you. They first HAVE to put ads up for the open job and if a US citizen who has a bachelor's with 3 years of experience applies, they get the job instead. You have to be really good to make sure you can secure a job and make the time, money and effort worth it for the company to sponsor you instead of hiring locally. Good luck.

My russian girl has applied for 6month work visa to US Do they have to show $2000 to receive visa or scam?

100% SCAM for so many reasons
1 - an individual cannot apply for a work visa. Their employer has to apply for them so she is lying if she claims she applied for a work visa. ONLY an employer can apply for a work visa for a foreign employee
2 - there is NO such thing as a 6 month work visa to the US
3 - You don't show any money to get a work visa as the employer is paying all expenses, salary, etc and financially responsible for the employee
4 - I can guarantee if you contact the US Embassy in Moscow they will have NO record of this person even applying for a visa. These scams are so common they have a dedicated email address solely for verifying visa scams
"the Fraud Prevention Unit can verify the authenticity of any U.S. visa via e-mail at FPMM@state.gov"
http://moscow.usembassy.gov/dating-scams...

These scams are run by the Russian mafia and use stolen pictures of Russian porn stars and models to lure in foreign men. If you ever talk to a girl on the phone, she is usually the wife of the criminal running the scam

Cut off ALL contact ASAP and just pray that you did not ever give your full name, home address, birthdate or any other information that puts your safety and your identity at risk of these gangsters. This is why you never give more than your first name to anyone on a dating site until you meet face to face.

If she was applying for a tourist visa, valid for maximum 90 days, she would need to show 6 months of bank statements to prove that she has legally earned enough money to cover her travel expenses (visa, flight, insurance, spending money) without ANY outside assistance - meaning she cannot borrow money or be funded by any other person. She has to have that money in her bank account for at least 6 months. If anyone has sent her money or she has borrowed money she will NOT get any visa as that proves she is not financially independent. That's why the scammers ask for money - so there is no way they can visit the US. They hope the American they are conning does not know this - and they just pocket the money

How do I get a visa in India to work in USA? What is it cost and what is requirments for it? I have a Indian passport already.

Thanks for the A2A. Well, what you mean you are in India, and are looking for a job in the US. The difficulty in answering to your question is that besides holding and Indian passport and your desire to travel to the US, you have said nothing about yourself... i.e qualification, experience etc. In any case, the one way to travel to the US for work would be to get a job with an International bank or any company doing back office work for US based companies. Then you will get to travel to the US for short training/familiarisation/assignments etc. Another way could be if you work in the IT industry. There are many opportunities to travel abroad (not necessarily the US - could be Europe, Japan or any where else) Actually, you should be looking to work in the US as a long term goal, and work towards that. Being a nurse, or a therapist, or having specialised skills (e.g trailer truck driver - sometime back 200 drivers were selected from Andhra Pradesh to work in the US, with direct visa) Even if one has worked as a steward in a 5 star restaurant, it is possible to get employed in cruise ships - P&O, Carnival, Disney etc. (there are many openings in this field) You need to speak to a vocational counsellor and get the right advise. Good luck.
