How Do You Take Care Of Baby Owls

I dreamed I found 4 baby owls in a nest in my home?

The dream started out with me wondering my house and finding new rooms. I was excited about the house being bigger, and finding new places. But when I came to another door it lead to another persons house and backyard. So I closed the door and made my way back to the kitchen. My whole family was there visiting I guess, so when I went to go get glasses and opened the cupboard I saw a nest of baby birds. They were startled but then very calm...when I looked into there eyes I noticed they were owls.

Dreamt I had two baby owls? Meaning?

I dreamt I had a found a baby owl. It was beautiful and I was trying to find a place to keep it. I couldn't quite figure out how I was going to keep it. This is weird, but it pooped and instead of smelly nasty mess, it was like the defecation was pure white and fluffy like marshmallow cream. Then another baby owl showed up and I had two owls. I kept struggling with finding a place to keep them and someone suggested a bird cage. I bought them a big beautiful cage with two separate compartments and kept one owl on each side. Any suggestions? I'm usually good with dream interpretations, but not this one. I'm going through major life changes right now. A job change is coming soon, my marriage is over, and I'm about to put my house on the market. But I feel I'm doing the right thing with all. Thanks.

What dose a baby owl eat?

Baby owls only eat regurgitated food from their mothers. They can't eat by themselves. Take it to ASPCA or a wildlife control group. If not it will probably die. I hope you do this very soon! Good luck and best wishes! :)

How can I feed baby barn owls?

Find a raptor rehab center, or a licensed rehabilitator in your area and take the barn owls to them. Organizations like Animals in Distress often have a list of qualified rehabilitators. The local animal shelter, Fish and Game office, and local police or sheriff probably have the list also.Baby barn owls are actually hard to feed and keep healthy. They need more vitamins and calcium than they easily get from most food. They also crap all over the place and generally make a mess.

I found a baby owl on my yard, what do I do to either free it or feed it until it flies away?

Contact your local Audubon Society. Depending on where you live they will have wildlife facility or will refer you to one. If you cannot locate a reputable wildlife rehabilitation facility take it to the nearest emergency veterinary hospital. Unless you have expertise in care for wild birds please do not try to care for it yourself as it probably won't survive. This answer is for a recently hatched chick. If the bird you found was young but fully feathered, and uninjured, put it back where you found it. Nestlings usually can't fly well when they first leave the nest but the parents are nearby to protect the baby from predators. It you go this route put the bird in a bush or low branch where you can keep an eye on it until you see the parents. If after an hour or so the bird is still there and are no parents are seen it is probably better to retrieve it and follow the advice above.Unless a baby bird is obviously to young to survive or is injured don't pick them up. The parents are nearby and keeping an eye on it.

Where can you find baby owls for sale? Are owls legal to keep as pets?

If you are in the US and you are not a licensed falconer, it is 100% illegal for you to have an owl as a pet.North American Falconers AssociationHow to Become a FalconerYou do not keep an owl as a “pet.” Owls have very little brain and it is all devoted to hunting. They generally do not bond. What people mistake for “affection” in an owl is generally either due to utter indifference, or due to the fact that it is daytime, and the owl wants to sleep.Have you considered the fact that you will need an avian specialist vet? Have you even looked for one?Have you considered the fact that you will need to feed the owl whole animals? There is no Purina Owl Chow. Have you got room in the freezer for 3 months worth of mice, rats, or quail? Do you know where to get these things? Do you have the money to buy these things? Quail run about $2 each, rats the same, not including overnight shipping. If you find a local supplier chances are prices will be higher. A large owl needs 1 whole quail or 2 rats a day.Have you considered where you will house it? You can’t keep them in a parrot cage. A large owl will need something like this.Have you got room for that?Have you any idea how much mess an owl makes? They throw bits of fur and feathers and meat everywhere. And they poop everywhere. A lot. Most of them “projectile poop,” squirting it as far away as they can. It stinks. And then they throw up the fur and bones of what they ate in an “owl pellet.”If you are still owl-crazy, go volunteer at a wildlife rehab and rescue center. They always need help.

Baby owl not eating anything?

I am assuming you found this owl "abandoned" (the vast majority of baby owls found alone just means that the parents are gone hunting for food for the babies). Don't even bother trying to raise it; its highly illegal and you could get fined or even prison time. Turn it into your local wildlife animal rescue center, they will know what to do.

I found a injured baby owl in back yard. I'm going to try to nurse it back to health. Need suggestions.?

Good on you for rescuing the poor little thing. I'm not sure what country you're in, but I've got a lot of links to wildlife carers in a lot of countries on my site, at
http://au.geocities.com/leaswebsite/link... under "Wildlife Assistance" - just click on them all, have a browse, 'phone them and ask their advice.
