How Do You Take Notes When You Have 19 Different Teachers

To Special Education Teachers, how do you handle difficult parents?

Two of my students have extremely difficult parents.

Unfortunately, because the students are non-verbal, i have to occasionally write notes home to tell them things. It seems like no matter what i write, even if it's simply "she had a great day," they will find some way to complain about it.

I've been told by my supervisors and many of the other parents that i am an excellent teacher and that they are very impressed with how smoothly i run this difficult classroom.

These parents are extremely discouraging and even sometimes insulting. No matter how hard i try to let it go, it's impossible not to take it a little personally.

How do you handle these negative comments?
Does anyone have a similar situation? How did you handle it?

Thanks!

Why is my gym teacher so mean to me for my medical problems?

I have JRA, and my doctor told me I cannot run, climb, or jump because my hips are so damaged. He said I'd have to get the replaced when I'm 19. If I do any of the things he told me not to do he said I'd have to end up in a wheelchair. It's been this way since I was in 5th grade, and I'm in 8th grade now. I bring in doctors notes all the time, and in 6th-7th grade I had female gym teachers and they let me do stuff, just not what I couldn't do and were nice to me and somewhat understanding. But this year I have a male teacher and when I gave him the doctors not he just barely read it and asked what was wrong with me. I told him what I had and he replied rudely "Since when did people with arthritis can't do anything?" It made me feel really bad and embarrassed, so I just kinda shrugged. Since then he's made me sit out of class and do these 5 page packets that are literally impossible to finish in one class period, especially with all the distractions. And now he's making me do 2 two page righting assignments to make up for fitness testing, because I'm pretty sure he thinks I'm lying about it just to get out of his class. It makes me so stressed out because I'm really working hard to get straight A's so i can stay in my honors class AND I'm having family troubles. I always feel so nervous to go to gym because I feel like such a loser and a slacker.

Does anyone have any advise for me?

Is my teacher trying to SEDUCE me or does she LIKE me?

*THIS IS NOT A TROLL*

I'm 18 years old (Malaysian-Chinese and German-Eurosian). I study in Malaysia. I'm in Form 6 BAWAH (Lower) which is 18 years old. 19 if you wounded up in Remove/Peralihan. So I have this erm, Pendidikan Sivik teacher and I think she likes me. Cause yesterday (SECOND last) period. It was only 1:38 PM (If I remember correctly). She wore a (Black office jacket up to her upper waist, a pink shirt, a skirt, what office women wear up to her legs, you can see the knees.) So the shirt revealed what controls us boys/men. CLEAVAGE. When I was just doing my homework (She asked us to take notes.) she came to me and said "Everything Ok?" in Hokkien/Chinese. I typed in English cause you guys wouldn't understand. Then she BENT down to read what I was writing. (She had files in her hands, but she DID NOT cover the cleavage.) So thanks to that. I saw her black bra. A bit of nipple. Heck? I'm not a pervert she's just askin for it. It's not my fault alright? Don't be so pissed off.. I don't know what to do here. Is she trying to seduce me? Cause when I walk by her everytime in the Canteen/Cafeteria (What you people call it.) She just looks at me. (I'm quite good looking actually. I have long curly hair, do you know Harry Styles? Yeah similiar to his. My face is quite charming too actually.) Pissed off? Don't continue then. Alright, she looks at me, I look back. The *WINKS* at me. Which is what freaks me out, I do not want to have an affair with my TEACHER. That's just ILLEGAL. Plus, I have a crush on a girl! How do I tell her.. please respond. I'm typing this for as I'm gonna leave. So I'll read your answers when I get back home. Buh bye, Thanks for your help.

-Peace..

Teacher/Student False Rumor?

am a female teacher in an urban school district. Today, my prinicpal confronted me about a rumor she heard about my having a physical relationship with a male student. She "reassured" me that it was a rumor, but I'm not sure what to think at this juncture. The student in question is 19 and lives with a 28 year old female who is pregnant with his child. I taught him as a ninth grader, and last year during a computerized chemistry class after school. He feels comfortable sharing personal information with me because I have known him for so long. I expressed concerns to him on a regular basis about him missing school and failing his classes due to the fact that he should be out of school already. There hasn't been any inappropriate behavior, but I know how folks like to make things into a witch hunt. How should I handle this?

Hi i have too many absences/excused notes in school i was wondering ...?

it depends on your school's policy and your school board's policy
for instance .... one year i had about 56 total absenses in a semester (the other semester wasn't great either), i still was among the top grades in the class and i passed with around a 75 average
but if you are worried about it talk to your teacher or if you have a school guidance councillor go talk to them, they will help you with any questions and if your wanting to do something to fix it they can help you with that too!
hope it works out for you!

My voice keeps cracking when I sing high notes....?

Hi, common problem.

Are you warming up for long enough before you start to sing?
It's important to remember alot of time must be dedicated to warming up before going to your songs. You can do this using a piano and singing the relevant notes of a scale, up and down, in three's, arpeggios, etc, whatever it takes to get your voice ready.

The voice is cracking because it's not used to the pressure being applied to the different muscles when trying to hit the notes. That's why if you warm up for a long while, it will prevent the cracking from occurring during your singing. Also another risk is that you may be trying to push the notes out too hard, you should be switching between chest and head voice if your reaching real high notes. But don't force notes out of you. It's always an ugly sound and never good for your voice in the future.

Try warming up for as long as you can. Your voice won't get tired from that because your efficiently excercising it. Remember to always go up and down the piano and with your voice singing those notes in tune. I recently opened (support act) for one of Australia's finest singers (Marcia Hines), and she was warming up for around 2 hours before her gig!

All the best with it.

Anyone have ideas for Teacher Appreciation Week?

This is all for the PTA to get things together outside of class, there is no time for activities with the kids, it's only activities for the teachers/staff...

I'm a 19 year old doing my bachelor's in mechanical engineering. I want to excel in my field and work hard and be awesome at life. What do I have to do?

Since you are studying I will recommend that you should study like a champ, give it your 100%, having knowledge is totally different and when it comes to practical experience in the field, everything is different. When you try to establish a connection between these two that is when you get to learn the real deal. And it is awesome. So right now concentrate on the text.. Learn more.. Read more.. Try to understand the concepts word by word.. My experience is even the sequence of facts changes the whole story.. So dig deeper. And never leave any question unanswered, ask your teachers, professors, mentors and seniors as many questions as you need to ask, don't be shy, don't worry what they will think about you. More you investigate, better you will get. Listen to lectures very carefully and take notes, everyday go through your notes and clear you concepts, because sometimes you can only understand a new concept if you are fimilar with previous concept which is already covered. You should always keep up with your lectures .. So whatever you covered in lecture today.. Understand it today.. Do all you research and mAke sure you understand that and its saved in your mind.. Step one : study hard and realStep two : keep up with the lecturesStep three : never ever miss any class or lecture if you do cover it before you go back to schoolStep four : don't be afraid to ask questions in the class or after the class, before the classDon't worry if some teachers find it difficult to cope withStep five : don't be lazy, in asking a question, clearing you mind, discussing your confusion When you go in your field have same approach
