How Do You Think To Recover Files From Usb Hard Drive

Recover files from a flash drive (USB) that has been formatted?

Formattting won't make the data in USB flash drive or other disk erased permanently. Those formatted files are still stored on the disk just invisible or inaccessible. Only the FAT or NFTS table erased the information about where those data were saved but the real data are still intact there in sectors of the USB.So as long as those data are not overwritten by new data, it's highly possible to recover the files. And the MOST Effective way is to rely on some format recovery programs. Have a try of Wondershare Data Recovery - Format Recovery,

It should help. But before your files are recovered, better not put more files to your usb in case the original data are overwritten.

My suggested way is: try to make your usb detected, but if it still needs formatting, you have to format it first and use some data recovery software to recover the files.
I cannot ensure that you can get back all your lost files, but that seems the only way.

Broken external hard drive. How to recover files or repair.?

A week ago I wanted to defragmentate my laptop. I had my external hard drive connected to my laptop with usb while i clicked the defragmentation button. I just used windows defrag to defragmantate the laptop.

I have windows vista and when i clicked to defrag, it named a couple of hard drives and partitions.
The external hard drive was also selected. And while defragging, i pulled out the external hard drive from the usb hub and later, when the defragmentation was finished, i wanted to use my external hard drive and it didn''t work anymore.

It's a Western Digital 500 GB. I do see a little light when i attach it to the laptop but it doesnt make the same sound like it normally does when connected to the laptop.

I can't open him or see it in the device manager either. I can't see him anywhere. I don't know how to get it working again. I hope you know a solution to get it working again.

thanks in advance!

Is it possible to recover files from a corrupted external hard drive?

Methods to Resolve:Check For the USB Cable Damage & the connector on the Hard Drive. (You can find physical damage signs if any)Replace the USB Cable & Give it a try, Sometimes due to cable damage proper power is not forwarded to the hard drive. (If the same issue with another cable don’t plug in thehard drive again and again to the PC)If your Hard Drive is under warranty, Draft a Mail to Seagate for the approval of Data Recovery. (Call Customer care Number of Seagate for Email Address enquiry)After receiving the approval from Seagate for data recovery from the hard drive, try to buy a SATA USB Casing from any Computer Store or you can Buy it Online as well. After Receiving the USB Casing, Try to disassemble the Seagate old casing, and shift the hard drive to new USB Casing. After Shifting the Hard Drive to new Casing, plug-in the USB cable to PC or Laptop & check if the clicking noise issue is resolved or not.If still, you hear the clicking Noise, remove the cable & re-shift the hard drive to old Seagate Casing. This means your Hard Drive is in a Very Bad Condition & you need help from a Data Recovery Professional.Don’t download free data recovery software from the internet to try recovering data on your own, because this is a physical issue & these methods are not going to work. if you are still doing the same thing you are just making it worse.Precautions:If you are not able to solve the problem & still hear the clicking Noise, Please follow the instructions for your Data Safety.Don’t Plug-in your Hard Drive again & again to any Laptop, PC or other devices. ( It can cause Critical damage )Don’t visit a Computer Store for Data Recovery, as this can be only done by a Professional Data Recovery Expert.Try to keep your Drive safe until you reach an expert. This will cost you a lot of money to get your data recovered, so don’t visit multiple data recovery centres, Every time you visit a Data recovery centre, your drive will be powered on & it can damage the platter so the chances for data recovery will be reduced.Search for an Expert or a Professional Data Recovery Centre, Discuss all the details, Get a quotation for data recovery, if the amount is worth to save the data, go for it.If not going for data recovery, visit Seagate service centre & get your drive replaced if under warranty.

Missing Folders/Files From WD External Hard Drive?

With external drives, there is a scenario where you can lose files/folders without explicitly deleting them.

I use Windows-XP Pro and I have a Western Digital USB external drive that I bought about 6 months ago, and I have experienced this problem a few times. Here is a possible reason for that problem.

Inside Disk Properties for your hard-drives, Hardware tab -> Properties, Policies Tab, there is a Check-box labelled 'Enable write cache on the disk'. You really want to uncheck this box for your external drive. If you always use the 'Safely Remove Hardware' icon (that Windows put on the Quick Lauch Bar the first time you pull a USB connected device off), you will be told sometimes that you can't disconnect your external hard-drive yet. When that happens to me, I shut down my PC first, then wait for my external drive to turn itself off (with an audible click), before I disconnect or turn off its power.

Assuming you had Disk Cache enabled for your external drive, it is possible that your USB drive was disconnected or powered off before Windows copies the cached files back to your external drive. You can try to run Scan-disk (Disk Properties: Tool tab: Error-checking option, Check Disk button, check 'Automatically fix file system errors', Start.)

This may restore the 'lost' files/folders back to your external drive. I haven't seen a Windows Help that says this would help, but theoretically it can hurt. I would like to hear about how it goes.

Recovered files "cannot open" ? formatted hard drive (accidently) and using DMDE recovery now and not sure if it's working! :(?

I accidently formatted my hard drive. I needed to reinstall windows (laptop gone very slow). i've no disc drive on my laptop. I downloaded Windows 10 from Microsoft and used my external hard drive as a device to store it, not knowing it would wipe my hard drive.

I discovered this then, panicked, and found a DMDE recovery software. I am using the free version at the moment and it's currently scanning. I stopped the scan and tested one .jpg file and recovered it and the photo viewer with windows said it "cannot open this file" . i picked a file at random to test, and the name of it just came up as something like f568866.jpg so I have no idea what picture it is. I don't want to recover everything on the hard drive, only some things.

Will the name of the files recover too or will they all be like "f939848.jpg" or "h3388339.wav" for example?
I haven't reinstalled Windows yet and I didn't get any warning that the external device would be wiped. I'm no expert on computers, but not totally illiterate with them either, more advanced than an average computer user. Any help would be much appreciated. :(
