How Do You Treat Dysbiosis

I have Bacterial dysbiosis in my stomach, For some reason Prebiotics(Inuilin) work more effectively than probiotics. Why?

Prebiotics are (usually) fibre that feeds probiotic bugs.  Probiotics need to get fed in order to do their job(s):  1. Out-competing the bugs causing dysbiosis and eventually displacing them (as they die), and keeping them in check by secreting antimicrobial substances  2. Probiotics are commensal organisms that create "waste products" that benefit our immune system -  they help to signal to dendritic cells in the gut that it is a "safe environment", helping to improve regulatory T-cell counts thereby reducing overall inflammation.  They also encourage B cells to secrete greater amounts of sIgA than IgE (thereby downregulating mast cells). All information taken from the book The Probiotics Revolution by Huffnagle.http://sitemaker.umich.edu/huffn... I suspect you are feeding the probiotics and feeling better because of that.  In the future, you should purchase probiotics with FOS or other prebiotics in them. Also, I have seen some people who take probiotics and have a negative reaction - if the probiotics are aggravating perhaps your microflora "type" is diff than the spectrum of probiotics you are supplementing with. You should talk to an ND/MD who works with probiotics to address the dysbiosis, there are a number of herbals that can be helpful to rebalance gut flora.

What is an effective way to get rid of dysbiosis/yeast overgrowth?

The best thing you can do is feed the 'good' bacteria already trying to grow in your gut. Studies have shown that prebiotics are the key to a healthy gut that will fight dysbiosis. Here's a short clip that explains how prebiotics combat dysbiosis:

What is the best way to self-treat PTSD?

I plan to self-treat diabetes, cancer, a broken arm. I’m sure an author somewhere has written a book on each illness I mentioned. I bet the author sells lots of books. You can’t self-treat PTSD.How do you KNOW you have PTSD? Have you EVER been diagnosed by anyone? If you have been diagnosed, why won’t you get treatment?Any one who has never met you, should never tell you how to fix anything wrong with you.I was seen for two years BEFORE I was diagnosed with PTSD. Never label your pain. Experts do that.Several types of psychotherapy, also called talk therapy, may be used to treat children and adults with PTSD. Some types of psychotherapy used in PTSD treatment include:Cognitive therapy. This type of talk therapy helps you recognize the ways of thinking (cognitive patterns) that are keeping you stuck — for example, negative or inaccurate ways of perceiving normal situations. For PTSD, cognitive therapy often is used along with exposure therapy.Exposure therapy. This behavioral therapy helps you safely face what you find frightening so that you can learn to cope with it effectively. One approach to exposure therapy uses "virtual reality" programs that allow you to re-enter the setting in which you experienced trauma.Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR).EMDR combines exposure therapy with a series of guided eye movements that help you process traumatic memories and change how you react to traumatic memories. All these approaches can help you gain control of lasting fear after a traumatic event. You and your health care professional can discuss what type of therapy or combination of therapies may best meet your needs.(Mayo Clinic)PTSD is never cured. Trauma is branded in your brain. You CAN learn how to leave pain in your past. Was the trauma your fault? How can you stop giving this pain more power than it’s already taken from you?You can learn to live in THIS moment, not a past moment. You can learn to love, laugh, and thrive even with having PTSD.You get ONE life. Don’t waste a moment in pain.

What are the best ways to treat fibromayia?

What are the best ways to treat fibromayia? With respect to the others who have answered, there is no “best” way to treat fibromyalgia; there are only the ways that work best for you.Fibromyalgia presents differently in the people who have it. There are at least 7 types of pain, for example, and you may experience a subset of them. You may or may not have IBS, you may or may not have nausea or ocular symptoms or headaches and so on. Because there is no treatment for the cause of fibromyalgia, which remains unknown at this time, it is treated symptomatically. Because it’s treated symptomatically, your treatment may be different from mine because we don’t have exactly the same symptoms. To the suggestions already noted, I add:Follow a low glycemic load diet, not a low carb diet (which can make insomnia worse)Take coenzyme Q10 to reduce fatigue and pain by supporting mitochondrial function. The mitochondria are the power plants of cells that produce energy. They do not function properly in people with fibromyalgia (which is why we get so tired).Learn how to pace yourself - it’s one of the most important things to do if you have a chronic illness.Hot baths are one of the most effective ways of dealing with the all-over pain. Add Epsom salts if your muscles are stiff as well as painful.Get your thyroid function checked. Fibromyalgia impairs the operation of the thyroid, adrenal, pituitary and hypothalamus glands. Low thyroid function is very common in people with fibromyalgia. Many, if not most, people with fibromyalgia will experience depression at some point. Do not ignore it. It will make your other symptoms worse. If you become depressed, consider using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy as one of your treatments. There are effective natural alternatives to medications such as gabapentin. Let me know if you would like more information on them.

Can I give my bunny cereal as a treat?

It is bad for them.
See this article written by a PhD:
http://www.bio.miami.edu/hare/diet.html
It states... (check 2nd paragraph especially)

"NEVER feed your rabbit commercial "gourmet" or "treat" mixes filled with dried fruit, nuts and seeds. These may be safe for a bird or hamster--BUT THEY ARE NOT PROPER FOOD FOR A RABBIT. The sole function of "rabbit gourmet treats" is to lighten your wallet. If the manufacturers of "gourmet rabbit treats" truly cared about your rabbit's health and longevity, they would not market such products.

"Don't feed your rabbit cookies, crackers, nuts, seeds, breakfast cereals (including oatmeal) or "high fiber" cereals. They may be high fiber for you, but not for your herbivorous rabbit, who's far better able to completely digest celluose ("dietary fiber") than you are. Fed to a rabbit, the high fat and simple carbohydrate content of "naughty foods" may contribute to fatty liver disease, cecal dysbiosis, obesity, and otherwise cause health problems. "
