How Do You Use Iron Sights On War Z

Iron sights: how far is possible to hit a man-sized target using only iron sights?

One of the most remarkable long range shots with iron sights occurred on 27 June 1874 at the Second Battle of Adobe Walls. A group of buffalo hunters at the trading post came under attack by Comanches led by Quana Parker. On the third day of the siege, during a lull in the fighting one of the hunters spotted a group of the hostiles on a knoll a long distance from the post and said that the youngest of the hunters should try a shot. The young man was Billy Dixon, considered to be the best shot of the lot, and the rifle was a Model 1874 Sharps .50–90 he borrowed from a fellow hunter since he did not think his .45–90 would carry that far.Although Dixon expressed his doubts that he could hit someone at that range, he nevertheless stepped up and fired two ranging shots. Making a few adjustments to his sights and aim, he fired a third and one of the hostiles dropped from his horse. The long range shot so unnerved the hostiles that they withdrew. When the distance from the post to the knoll was later measured by the US Army it was found to be 1,538 yards. This distance alone was enough to make the shot extraordinary, the fact that it was made with a black powder rifle without the aid of modern optics and ranging, makes it even more spectacular. Dixon himself, though, wrote later that in his opinion it was a lucky shot.

How do you use the tip up sniper sites on a .303 british no. 4 mark .1 what do the numbers on it represent?

The Backsight, or rear sight, of a No. 4 Mk 1 rifle is graduated in yards. Each number represents hundreds of yards (2 = 200, 3 = 300 and so on...).

They're a good example of military iron sights. I've used them to hit bowling pins at 200 yards. Like all iron sights, it is important to be able to see your target clearly.

You get a choice of one primary weapon, one handgun, and one of any medical support to survive a zombie apocalypse, what’s your choice?

Thanks for the A2A,Dario Nunez.Let’s go for boring, yet more reflective of the real world, answers, shall we?Primary weapon: AR-15 chambered in 5.56 mm, equipped with a suppressor to protect my ears, some sort of reflex sight that co-witnesses with the open iron sights, a sling and possibly a bipod. Rifle and ammo are both light and plentiful, greatly increasing my scavenging opportunities. The rifle is capable of far greater accuracy than I am.Handgun: Pretty much anything in 9 mm. I like the Sig P250c. Light, readily available ammo is a good thing.Medical support: I am a RN, so let’s go for a well-stocked first aid/trauma kit.

Lit help please? >.

Are modern infantry soldiers trained as a general rule to use their Ironsights\optics\reddots or to aim from the hip?

All of NATOs militaries, not just infantry but non-combat professions, and other combat fields too (e.g. artillery), are all trained to aim down the sights. There used to be a few weapons designed to be fired from the hip, but no NATO military uses them anymore. In the field some soldiers get to use optics, but in most situational training exercises, and for shooting qualifications, soldiers use iron sights.
