No. This is not normal. He needs to notify his LCPO and chain of command that he's not getting his BAH and is now using Navy Relief to assist with his rent. Somebody in personnel needs to get his *** kicked.
Do soldiers receive BAH while on terminal leave?
Im on terminal leave right now and just checked me LES. I have $960 worth of BAH coming to me in my last paycheck. Im a single E-4 living with parents and I've never received more than a few dollars for BAH while in the Army. Is this a mistake? If it is, how soon will DFAS correct do you think? Thanks.

I m currently active duty finishing up my 3yrs 17 weeks contract. 1. How much does the Post 9/11 G.I. Bill cover? 2. When do I need to start applying for federal assistance like fasfa if my ETS is in July 2017? 3. How far out before my school starts or ETS date do I need to apply for my G.I. Bill so it can be ready for when I begin? 4. I want to start school A.S.A.P. after the army, what if my school starts a month before my ETS date will k have wait until the next start date and can I get a early discharge if so? 5. For BAH that comes with the G.I. Bill, how do I apply and how soon will I be able to start using it?
Army BAH with mother as a dependent?
please only answer if you have experienced this or know what you're talking about. Hey there I'm a single soldier who lives in the barracks, and my mother has been sick for the last few years and she use to be able to support her self with a little help from me till now,and with my E-4 pay there's only so much I can do but it's gotten worse meaning she's lost her job and will lose her home in the nearest future, my dad's not in the picture. Here's my question; 1. If I claim my mother as my dependent, which I was informed I could, would I get full BAH so that my mom could move in with me either on/off post and get medical treatment at a medical treatment facility because I was told she is not eligible for Tricare. How does Basic allowance for housing (BAH) work?
For BAH if you are single then usually you must be E5 or higher to be allowed to move out of barracks or off ship and live out in town. E4 with 4 years in can also qualify. Anything less than that it must be approved by the CO first. BAH it is to pay for your rent/mortgage and utilities. If you are married then you qualify for BAH w/dependents and it is slightly higher than BAH w/o dependents. BAH w/o dependents is E4 and below the same, the E5, E6, etc... The same with BAH w/dependents. It is based on the zip code of the command. New rates come out each December for the next calender year. If your BAH goes down but you are already getting it, it does not change. If it goes up then your BAH goes up starting January 15th. BAH is an allowance that you receive along with your pay on the 15th and 1st of each month.

I'm coming back Stateside from a year in South Korea. My wife dosen't want to move to the fort I'm going to be stationed. She and the kids are in our hometown, where there is lots of family and great schools. Will I be able to live in the barracks while she is three hours away? Will there be any changes to BAH?
