How Does Helicobacter Pylori Cause Stomach Ulcers

How does Helicobacter pylori cause gastric ulcers in humans?

How does Helicobacter pylori cause gastric ulcers in humans?
A. It neutralizes the acids of the stomach.
B. It causes the production of excess acid in the stomach.
C. H. pylori does not cause gastric ulcers.
D. It damages the stomach's mucous coat.
E. It eats away the lining of the mouth and throat.

Is it true that H. Pylori (the stomach ulcer causing bacterium) can be contracted from rivers?

There is some research that fresh water contamination is the source of human infection there is still some doubt. Here are few citations that I found in under 5 minutes (as you could have done):Helicobacter pyloriHelicobacter PyloriScienceDirectSurvival of Helicobacter pylori in a Natural Freshwater Environment

How does Helicobacter Pylori cause stomach ulcers?

H.pylori is present in the mucous layer near the epithelial surface where physiologic pH is present. They secrete proteses that modifies the mucous and further reduces the ability of acid to diffuse through the mucous( acid will kill them). They also has urease activity which yields production of ammonia and further buffering of the acid. Their toxins and lipopolysaccharide damage the mucosal cells, and decrease mucosal defense. The acid now could come in contact with the epithelial wall, with host factors and certain inflammatory response that aggravate the condition, stomach ulcer develops.

My mom has Helicobacter Pylori. Please help.?

First of all, please do not freak out. H. Pylori is much more common than most people realize. Most of the time a doctor will recommend a combination of a proton pump inhibitor (this med blocks the acid production of the stomach) such as Prilosec and an antibiotic such as Clarithromycin. Rarely, only an antibiotic is prescribed. Actually, in my experience with patients with this bacterium, doctors use a combination of medications. The chance of your mom dying from H. Pylori alone is extremely rare. It is actually easily treatable with early diagnoses. Just make sure she sees a doctor and follows the medication regiment to the letter. Since you know that she has this, she should be on a treatment plan already. Best of luck to you and your mom :-)

Helicobacter pylori and the Bacteral Theory of Ulcers?

explain the results presented in Table III. What do you conclude from this data?

this is from the article "Helicobacter pylori and the Bacterial Theory of Ulcers by Debra Ann Meuler

Does H. pylori increase the risk of stomach cancer or is it the ulcer that comes from H. pylori? Does it increase the risk or cause stomach cancer?

A common kind of bacteria called Helicobacter pylori, or H. pylori, can cause an infection in your stomach that sometimes leads to ulcers. It can raise your risk of stomach cancer. H. pylori is a very common infection: at least half the people in the world get it at some point, usually in childhood. Doctors aren’t sure why it affects some people differently than others. The spiral-shaped bacteria get into your body through your mouth. Then, they burrow into the mucus that lines your stomach. You can pick up H. pylori infection in several ways. The bug can be in food or water that isn’t handled in a clean, safe way. You can get it from mouth-to-mouth contact with someone who has it. You can also get it if you come in contact with the vomit or feces of someone who’s infected. H. pylori is much more common in parts of the world where there’s poor sanitation, poverty, and overcrowding. H. pylori can inflame the lining of your stomach. That’s why you may feel stomach pain of get nauseous. If it’s not treated, it can sometimes cause ulcers, which are painful, open sores in your stomach lining that bleed. Studies show that people who are infected with H. pylori are also up to 8 times more likely to get a certain kind of stomach, or gastric cancer.

Can helicobacter pylori causes pyelonephritis?

ardnas,
Not to the best of my knowledge. I shall explain. Even though you may be aware of some or most of the following details, there may be details contained in my discussion that you are not aware of. Whilst helicobacter pylori -H. pylori - infection is the most common chronic bacterial infection in humans, the bacterial infection causing pyelonephritis - Escherichia coli. Staphylococcus saprophyticus. Proteus mirabilis. Klebsiella pneumoniae - may sometimes develop elsewhere in the body and travel through the bloodstream to the kidney. Far more commonly, however, the infection is the result of bacteria from outside the body traveling back up the urinary stream through the urethra to the bladder and eventually to the kidneys, in which case it is known as an ascending infection. This may explain why women, whose urethras are short and in close proximity to the anus, a potential source of bacteria, have four times as many cases of pyelonephritis as men. H. Pylori infection is the single most reported responsible factor for dyspepsia by the studies that investigated the causes of this complaint in end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients. However the bacteria is not considered to be the causative organism in pyelonephritis.

Can stress alone cause stomach ulcers?

No, it doesn't.That's a theory which has been abandoned for several years now. Most gastric and duodenal ulcers are induced by a bacterium: Helicobacter pylori. When the bacteria are found in biopsies an aggressive antibiotic therapy is given (there are multiple combinations of antibiotics available) Since these bacteria are surviving in pretty harsh conditions: a very low pH (acidity) they are not easily eradicated. But this doesn't mean they are impossible to get them out of your gastrointestinal tract. The treatment is based on simultaneous use of omeprazole (or similar) and a combination of two or three antibiotics, depending on the fact if the patient has penicillin-allergy. (Amoxicillin-Clavulanic acid + a type of enhanced Erythromycin + or a high dosage of tetracycline)It's imperative to treath this infection because it not only leads to ulcers but ultimately also to gastroduodenal cancer.Helicobacter is transmitted orally.Nevertheless the relationship between gastric ulcers and stress can be found in increased levels of gastric hormones, that can further lower the pH of the fluids in the stomach, causing irritative effects on already present ulcers or gastritis. The latter is a sort of inflammation of the gastric superficial tissue. So in the end the crises of gastric pain can be influenced by higher levels of stress hormones, and foods that lower the pH and thus increase the acidity of the gastric content.Currently working theories have abandoned the idea that stress as only factor is not the reason for ulcers.

Can helicobacter pylori causes hallucination and depression?

No. It can cause a peptic (stomach) ulcer in which you may have heartburn, stomach pain or ulcer bleeding.
